Thats good advice. And yeah its what im planning on doing, its why im being so fussy I guess :)
Goodluck on the sale though!

yeah i believe being fussy in the end youll be happier.
because you got what you wanted.
you could always go one with high kms for less then just engine swap it.
doesnt take that long and you just need someone handy on the tools.
but im sure there would be a heap of people on the forum that would lend a hand.
yeah the only down fall on my sale is that the engine is at 200,000kms.
but ill keep on selling im not going to go below $7k for mods and body works sake.
that might be my biggest downfall.
I've thought about that, but I want a facelifted model, and there arnt any around with high enough k's...
yeah, body work is body work.
why get a face lifted one when you could easily do a jdm conv.
just pretty much lay out all your options.
then deciede on the best path for you.
you could always face lift it yourself in due time.
but once again, lol, options options options.
Yeah that's a good point too.. im just thinking, why not jsut save up now, and not worry about spending the same money and (more) time later on doing all that myself.
Facelift > JDM anyways :p
so true.
lol.
Thought i'd jsut give my thread abit of a bump..
Im still on the hunt for a clean VTi-R, so guys if you know of any let me know please :)
Also crx51 you'll notice I 'reviewed' the Teg you bought after I went and looked at it a few pages back in this thread haha..
Have you checked out this one? http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/...vti-r&trecs=11
What happened to the clean silver one? It's not on carsales anymore.
Yeah I texted that guy a couple days ago, and its sold already.. Bit of a bummer, with that amount of k's on it it's no surprise though.
And that silver one, the immaculate one I wanted, it was bought buy a fellow member on here before I could get it haha :D I'm glad it went to good hands though!
There's a new ad that got put up today, It's a 97 model with 138,xxx k's on the clock, so I'm gonna check it out asap. I really wanted a facelifted model, but i'll see how this one is.. I can always get a 98+ bar I guess..
Anyone want to drive this over to Brisbane for me? :P
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=129C7C5E7D69
I think i've seen that thread.. Im looking for something that is reasonably stock/not thrashed that's all..
oh! right. WA is the one to go for! DO IT! ahhaha going across australia just to get a car ahhahaha
I'd be up for a road trip too! haha.
lolz I'll come too.
Road trip to WA to get Alex a car!!
Who's in?
be different, BUY MY EH! :D
honda cruise road trip!! lol
Haha thanks guys, It looks liek I have plenty of support..
But seriously, does anyone know anything about transporting cars interstate?
yes, not difficult at all. Will cost between 450 and 650 dollars from WA. Basically contact transport company and you could get it shipped door to door which will cost more. I'd suggest door to depot to save a little money.
yeah as above.
OR u can have a fun road trip with some ozhonda members just to pick up the car ! ;)
You will need to get it registered in QLD though, because techincally if the car will be permanently moved to QLD it's not meant to be registered to another state, and you're meant to change the rego as soon as you can.
This will involve getting a RWC and whatnot to do so.
You could also try google to find car transport companies, however I would never feel comfortable paying so much money to someone I have never met to buy a car I have never seen or inspected.
In my opinion it may be difficult to wait, but if you can, try and find a mint one in QLD.
IMO buying a car interstate is costly and more hassle than it's worth.
Brisbane is a fairly big city. One will turn up sooner or later.
BTW, whats ur budget? You didn't get the silver one, so I'm guessing ur budget is less than $11K.
I love my EM1, but maybe if I find a mint, unmodded DC2 I might buy it. I want more torque, even though the em1 has got a more modern look. Originally I thought I might upgrade to an s15/DC5r, but I'm not going to be able to afford it. I've toyed with the idea of turbo EM1, but it would be too expensive.
I want a coupe, but lately I've been looking at some mint MY'00 WRXs. They are very cheap these days, peeps are asking $12-$14K for low km (<140,000km), mint and unmolested examples. Talk about bang 4 ur buck (0-100 in 6.6 secs bone stock!). Depends on ur budget, but you can find some higher mileage ones for <$10K. I won't look as sexy as a Honda coupe, but it'll give you A LOT of fun and they are reliable.
Are U after just an Integra, or would u be happy with a VTi-R Civic? My EM1 is mint, well looked after and it's had an easy life. When I upgrade I will wanna get at least $10K for it if u might be interested then.
my eh is mint and has had an easy life too! :P cheap tooo haha. pm me your number vvvtec i wanna discuss something with you!
No jokes, I don't care if he doesn't want it. Believe me, it's guaranteed to sell within a week when i choose to part with it. It also has FSH and no mods whatsoever except injen CAI.
p.s. Don't wanna sound like a dick... i hope ur just giving a good natured ribbing.
im not mocking you or anything buddy. me and vvvtec have been spoken about my car already, im just giving him a 'reminder' haha.
Thanks for the offer man! To be honest though, I am after an Integra. Like you mentioned yourself, I'd like to have that little bit extra torque, plus I just have a thing for the (facelifted) shape. Interior is damn sexy too IMHO.
As for my budget, I very nearly got that silver one. The only thing holding me up is my current car. I need to sell it before I can buy another, as a chunk of my cash is gonna come from that. Tbh, $11k is probably the most I'd pay for a Vti-R, afterall these cars are 10-12 years old already.. Saying that, if I found THE one, like that silver one, I'm not going to have any trouble whatsoever handing over the cash :P
But like you say, and really struck me is that Brisbane is a large city. It's only a matter of time (inbetween) a fine example turning up. I've already seen 3 sell that I'd have been satisfied with. So I guess it's only a matter of time before the next turns up and everything is in place, with my eh selling and getting my tax money back too.

haha, just let me know when you sell..
I hope u find ur 'teg.
Still, today i went 4 a surf down the GC... whenever I'm on the freeway and I plant the EM1 into 3rd (within the speed limit of course) and let it hit vtec everyone that hears the b16a roar and sees the acceleration reacts. Even SS commie drivers usually smile or give a thumbs up. Its a great little screamer. As far as torque goes, as long as u slip the clutch, you can get it going from a standstill reasonably quick, although the DC2 doesnt require as much driver involvement to get it moving due to more low-down torque.
Even though I'll get a Subie fairly soon, I will never forget that b16a sound. It's priceless and truly turns heads :P
Yeah I am. '98+Quote:
Alex, are you only looking for a facelifted teg?
Good to see that your taking your time and not rushing in buying a car.
Thanks man. I am taking my time. I figure there's no point settling for anything other than exactly what I want, because I know it's out there ;)
hmm would anyone know how much a 1993 model honda integra si vtec (jap import) with 190xxx k's, stock as a rock besides a sound system and pretty clean paint job (as ive been washing it) will go for? bought it fairly cheap, havent driven it for long and never shifted above 3k rpms since i like to baby it because thinking of getting the most out of it to swap to another car =), planning to sell it off here eventually so how much you guys think it would go for =)
oh okies i see then, guess that aint bad =) price can always vary later on =) prob gonna sell in 4 months or so, i dont really like silver and i didnt think price of a complete body respray was that much until after i bought it. Nts: buy a car in a colour you alredi like hehe
Well thanks for that =) good luck with your teggy search =), so many to go around here if you were in NSW xD
Your right bro, you might just be able to get more, you'll find out when you go to sell it..
Thanks btw, my search continues!..
i am selling a 98 dc2 vti-r, 23k ono keen?
52,000 kms on the clock
haha thats what vtir's go for man. what are you talking about? You should settle for something in your budget...MY EH9! HAHA jokes buddy.
23k is pretty crazy. regardless the extent of mods.
He's got a K24 in it with i/h/e lol
It still seems to be a bit expensive though, maybe around 20K?
What power figures do you make kwokstaa?
Nothing new on carsales lately hmmm.
mistake. nevermind
160 kw atw. just spent 19k total on everything quality parts + labour tune, kpro.. comes with so i know obviousy you cant get back exactly what you have spent but the shell is clean has endless list of mods
I hear you. I regret not getting the silver DC2. Absolutely no nice and clean examples around. Must be the economic turndown, no one wants to trade up.
No clean stock classic WRXs around even, apart from 2 over priced "Red Mica" (crimson red) ones. Horrible colour!
my car can put your regret to rest! :P
That thing is a ****in rocket man, and it's so damn clean! Your car is a car that actually meets my standards (Everybody I went and had a look 89lude's eh with B18c5)
I just can't legally drive it yet, if I was to get pulled over I'd be done for haha. Such a shame. That's why I'm after a stock teg :)
Alex after the conversion i got my car registered with the motor without requiring a mod plate. (yes it really did pass all the scutiny it was under) I believe p platers are only restricted from driving cars with conversions that require a mod plate - which mine did not require.
I can show you registration paperwork. Engine is registered to the vehicle, no mod plate was required. Passed rwc and qld transport.
P platers cant drive turbos, superchargers, or anything with a certain power to weight ratio... Im guessing that what stops him driving it. I think technically us QLD P platers cant drive a dc2r?
alex are you seriously asking a guy that thinks a dc2r is not a p plater friendly car for advice? no offence samoth but yeah.
anyways like i said, a conversion is not the issue its a conversion that requires a mod plate that is a problem. And like ive explained, i can show you paperwork, my car did not require a mod plate for registration. At the end of the day, the paperwork covers your ass. If the boys up stairs approved, why would you listen to someone on a forum.
I cant stress anymore, i have the documentation still in my car. At the end of the day, a police officer can frame you into a fine for anything. Don't go houning around and you'll be fine.
we can drive dc2r. its under the 200kw limit, non turbo/supercharged. and its a 4cylinder
Yea my bad, it's not power to weight it's just anything over 200kw, soz
Got my tax back today, a car just needs to turn up now. Still absolutely nothing on carsales.
Yea man, nothin' is right. All of the ones on atm have been there for ages, no takers. They look like tired examples. I reckon you should consider a pre-facelift, you'll be waiting around ages for a 98-99. They don't seem that plentiful right now.
I'm still sitting on my EM1, actually I'm planning to put some fresh rubber (T1Rs) on. I'll trade up but if I find a nice car, but I'm in no hurry.
So how much is your budget after your tax return?
Yeah I've thought about it, but I decided against settling for something other then meets my standards, which are:
-Facelifted
-120,000k's max.
I know it probably makes me sound super fussy and pedantic but I know it's out there it's just a matter of time before I find it.
And put it this way, I have enough CASH to buy it when I find it, none of this debt/loan business haha.
How many k's has your em1 done man?
Be prepared to wait a while. 120,000km is extremely low for a 11-12 y.o car. It would have to average 10,000km per year. Personally, I do about 15-20K per year.
Also, check all the car sites, and not just carsales. It's the most popular site, but sometimes they can pop up on other sales sites. They rarely do, but sometimes you can find one.
My EM1s has 180,xxx Km. Engine still pulls like new, they're mostly highway Ks and done by a middle-aged woman. Ks aren't as important as long as a car has been well maintained (regularly) and not driven into the ground.
They are pretty rare, but I've seen 4 since January. There was a red one about 3 months ago with 88,000k's that was up for $10,500 I think, which is roughly the amount I'd pay for one.
Yea I remember that one. The colour is more of a burgundy, even though they call it "burning red pearl". That one was on sale since about Aug 2009, about the same time I got mine. At that time they were asking $15,000. I would of definitely bought it if it were 10,500 at that time.
That's the exact one my friend! That was probably the best deal I've ever seem on the net. I never actually went to inspect it though so I have no idea what shape it was in, I remember it had a tow-bar haha..
Back then (when I first started looking) my budget was about 9k tops, but in a way the lack of good cars has helped as it's let me save a whole heap more.
Hey man... just wait... I may have a suprise in store for u faster then u think..... !!!
Spill the beans man ^^
nah man... I will let ya know when i find out a bit more!!!! it will make your year... hopfully.... !!!
I went and looked at that burgundy one, it was in pretty good shape from memory. So stock it still had the original honda cd/casette player... The guy had a babyseat in the back lol.
i got dc2 vtri 1999 180,000 km back in dec 2009 for 10.1k.
The engine and interior looks brand new
it took me 2-3 weeks searching for it
make sure u have the cash ready when you going for car hunting .
Only bad thing was paint on the spoiler was peeling off.
Even though the car done alot but im sure the old owner taken good care of it.
the car is still running smoothly .
Goodluck
patience is virtue =)
Thanks man!
There's a 99 model over in Perth with 118,000k's on it, looks immaculate for $9,500!
Hey man, nah, i will go when you are keen to go...
Sounds good!
I've seen 3 facelifted vti-r's on the road this morning.. Out in force today!
