Take a photo of the hose, post it up and we can try to identify it for you.
**sigh**
now to find a dealership service dept that i can get my car into without scRaping the front bar soo much...damm u low car...haha
so is it that , they just replace the hose? or do they also change the OS fluid and o-ring too?
Just wondering if any one that has it replaced has had a problem with their aircon. Since I got the hose replaced my aircon is not working it is blowing just outside air in as if i turned the aircon button off.
Would it more then likely be a coincidence and is it an expensive fix or can i just get it regassed.
As a result my windows fog up like crazy now unless the all the windows are down it is insane.
Any ideas?
Finally got mine fixed including the clamps for the headlights...
ride feels SO much smoother then before !
HONDA U ARE THE BEST
just open all your windows and turn the heater on as opposed to aircon. and for the demister to work its best its better you leave it to air coming from outside into the car.
got the recall done,
agreed with davib about the driving 5km. lol
Is it standard practice for them to steam clean the engine bay after the replacement? or was it a once off done only on jono_l euro?
All CL9s are affected so it is not necessary to do a check. If you are paranoid check your VIN and if the first 6 characters are 'JHMCL9' then your vehicle is affected by the recall.
Just found out, best thing to do if you've bought the Accord Euro second hand, call up Honda Australia and let them know that you've bought the car off private or dealership, and they'll update your details on their database and they'll let you know you can just organise to goto a dealership to get the recall done without waiting on a letter.
Imo, I can't see how someone who has bought a second hand Honda would know that they had to update on HondaOne.
Even owners who bought brand new will fall off the Honda radar after the warranty expires. Honda assumes that you've since sold your car. I've had mine for almost seven years. I haven't received a letter about the recall and I don't expect one because Honda wouldn't even know or care that I still have the same car. Even though I get it serviced at a Honda dealer.
I remember that when I paid for the extended warranty, part of the deal was membership of HondaOne. That membership expired when the warranty expired and at the same time I stopped getting those silly one-dimensional Honda magazines and the roadside assistance I never used.
Just booked my appointment with Travis Honda in Frankston for power steering hose replacement. I do not have a letter but I have given them VIN and they were OK with it. They also told me that I'l eligible for discounted service ( I'm due for 60K this month ) for just $140 and they will also give me a voucher for $150 for my next service. Sounds to good to be true, considering others quoted me about $400 for 60K service, but will see how it goes.
Anyone else car is pulling slightly to the left since the recall?
Mine has always done that from time to time and I haven't had the recall done yet XD
It is intermittent so I suspect it may be that the car is sensitive to wind conditions and the gradient of the road rather than a steering problem... I had my tyres changed recently and was advised alignment was not an issue.
I had alignment do e twich and it's still happening lol.
Hey guys, last month my power steering hose began leaking and I noticed the recall on the TSX which I brought up when I called Honda.. which they said it doesn't apply to Australia.
I had to pay 600 dollars to get it replaced... do you think I could get a refund because of this?
Just called them and they said they'll contact Honda tomorrow morning and call me back to see if I will be refunded. Fingers crossed i do.
Honda just called me to confirm that if I got their letter in the mail confirming the recall. I brought up the fact that I paid for it a month ago when the car started to smoke and they said the refund should be possible... however, I still need to come and change the hose regardless of the fact that I changed it already :\. Talk about a waste of money... but oh, well. Booked in for 3 weeks time.
Taking mine to westpoint Honda this week. Don't really know if I'll sense an improvement or not though. Might be just a placebo effect lol.
i got my letter last week, all i had to do is sign up with hondaone either that or they got my details through other means, still waiting on the dealer to give me a time to bring it in, service department said they are flat out
o00o0o, i got my recall letter today......spose that means im gonna have to do the recall..incase something bad happens ay.....sooo cbf raising the car...LOL....i cant get into any service points with this height....hahahaha...fuuuuu
I received the recall letter early this week, they must get the owners details from the transport department because I purchased the car privately 2 years ago and have not sent any change of ownership to honda and it hasn't been to honda for a service either. I rang honda today and booked it in telling them that the hose had already been replaced with a non-genuine part. Since fitting the non-genuine hose, the steering has made a whining/groaning noise so I was extremely happy when they said they would replace it anyway. I certainly am happy with the outcome and will from now on use only genuine parts.
just got mine done today. Only bought the car privately 3 weeks ago. just called up honda to update my details and then they told me to call a service centre and they will sort it all out. steering feels a touch heavier, or maybe its me just being paranoid.
Yeah I just received a notice from Honda. I read the news about it beforehand and I was already aware that my Accord Euro was affected by this issue. Will book it to get fixed. Better be on the safe side! One question though, is this problem completely separate from squeaking noise when I turned my steering wheel?
Booked mine in to be replaced :)
oh man dont say that tranz, i also ceebz raising the car
ill just bring it in and if i cant make it in ill just leave it till it actually becomes a problem lol
are the power steering hose replacements done for free?
Yes, they are free of charge.
The power steering hose in question failed on my 03 Euro on Monday, leaking fluid onto the exhaust manifold, which caused smoke to spew out of the bonnet. Luckily i got the recall letter today just before i was about to pay to have it fixed.
I recently bought a '06 Euro Lux. How do I know if the Steering Hose was replaced on mine? Who can I call to find out?
It probably hasn't been replaced, most of us are only getting letters from Honda now. But there are pics a few pages back of the completed replacement so you can compare with what yours looks like.
If you have logbooks I'd hazard a guess the replacement will be in there too.
I'm getting my replacement done in two weeks, that's the soonest I could get in =/
Ive just taken my car to Trivett Honda in Parramatta. Fixed it before I got the letter from Honda. They seem very helpful but don't know what they did though. After getting the car back, the steering is harder than before, I dont like it. Guess its all about safety in the end
I got my hose replaced back in August of 2010. When I got this letter a few days ago I was spewing but then called up the Honda Customer Relations department and talked to a nice man who assured me that the dealership would refund me the cost of the part and book me in to replace the hose (again). Hopefully they refund he labour too but the hose itself was already $400 so I'll be happy to get that back anyway.
Will this fix my squeaky steering???
hey guys, i bought my euro on the 26th, just then i just registered with hondaone, is this all i have to do? when will i receive the letter or what do i have to do next to get the replacement?
NO.Need.to.wait.for.the.letter. Just call the dealer with your vin
Approximately how long does it take to get the problem fixed at a service center?
I gave them my car at 2:10pm and they rang me at 4:20 to tell me it was done.
The only thing different about the car that I could feel was that the technician had moved my seat out of its perfect sweet spot :( Not that I was expecting a new hose to suddenly improve handling =/
Just got mine done from Hornsby Honda today. Can't feel any difference! My steering is still squeaky especially when parking, etc.
Any idea how to fix?
My Euro is done. They also replaced the PS pump at half price because the hose had leaked and lack of fluid damaged the PS pump. Still squeeky and uneven assistance though.
Earliest I could get in is 2 months (wtf?).
Anybody else got their PS fluid changed in the process? Was that added cost (out of your pocket) or covered?
hey, i asked them to flush my power steering fluid as well... added another 80 including fluid... =/
Just did mine today, everything is all good.
But they didn't wash my car this time, haha! probably too busy, I saw a lot Euro coming in and out.
indeed. i didnt find any difference with my recall. slightly quieter but then again think we are all biased here on ozhonda:P we love the hondas too much !
Done mine yesterday, cant feel anything different haha, took them only 2 hours to fix
getting my car done today, yeah dealer wanted to charge me for power steering fluid.. its not a flush its just a top up due to the fluid lost during the change.. anyone getting charged for this is BS.. seriously they should be wearing the cost for this.. but i didn't want to argue and just said to leave it as i will be due for my 60k service soon anyway. seriously its ridiculous they are charging like $80 for steering wheel fluid..
This is absolutely BS........you might want to call up Honda Australia and address this problem....see what they come back with.
how much did you guy pay for the normal car service / 60k service? they told me that $450++
yeah i didn't ask for the top up.. i ain't paying 1 cent for a recall fix.. why should i pay for it.. anyway checking the power steering fluid level after the fix they fill it up anyway.. so yeah.. everyone.. don't let them rip you off.. just insist on no top ups.. they will end up doing it anyway..
yeah they quoted my 450 plus for 60k service..
Just want to report that I got my refund that I paid to get my power steering hose replaced before the recall.
no worries and no problems.
call one of the dealer today try to make appointment for the replacement but the earlier available day will be 2 months after
anyone know do they have deadline to do that replacement??
No deadline but it recommended you report to Honda ASAP
they are trying to get me to change the fluid whilst I am at it, but will not cover the costs.
I've done 65k, to my knowledge I have yet to change the fluid, but why would I change it now assuming it's part of the recommended service items.
Had mine done today so just thought I'd share my experience with you folks. Had mine done at Westside Honda(Hoppers Crossing Vic). Was done in 1.5 hour. The team there were great and really helpful. Didnt have to pay anything additional. If you live out on the western side of Melbourne I'd highly recommend taking yours to them though they are quite busy and you may not get an appointment for a month.
Getting my pipe changed at Honda Trivett in Parramatta right now :)
Hi guys,
I'm getting my power steering hose replaced at a Honda dealer right now - and as I was due for minor service (I had the 80K major service done just 6 months/5K ago), I decided to get that done while it was in there.
They've just called and said that while they will change the hose for free (they said it was normally $1000, a bit more than I've seen in previous posts here?!?), they need to drain and replace the power steering fluid as it has become dis-coloured, and quoted me $140 for this as it was not covered by the recall, which at the time I agreed to.
Does this sound right - given that I had a major service only 5K ago? Is it possible the dis-colouration is due to a faulty hose??
On top of this I was told that I should get new wipers ($65 - I've heard other people get wipers replaced for free) and a fuel injection cleaning ($115)
Does it sound liked I'm being fleeced?? Should any of these have been covered under the recent major service?
The dealer I went to has been rated highly here so I'd be disappointed if they are taking advantage of me.
Strangely I had a similar issue. The recall was done by Southside Honda with no further comment, however less than 5000kms or so later I took the car in for a 90K service and I was told that the power steering fluid was 'burnt and discoloured'. I had already requested a heap of extra work and these mechanics are pretty honest so I don't think they were trying to scam extra money out of me... in fact they called me mid-service to recommend changing it ASAP. Although, the flush and replace was only $65 for me, using genuine fluids too...
It seems odd that Southside Honda wouldn't have tried to upsell me the new fluid since they did the recall for free and even odder that after the hose change the fluid has suddenly become completely wrecked. The mechanic said the only way it could have happened would have been over a long period of time (Southside should have noticed too) or if the fluid was running low, which he said was unlikely given that he could find no leaks.
Unless the new hose contains contaminants from the manufacturing process that are ruining the power steering fluid. The plot thickens... /speculation
had mine done 2 weeks ago at Peter Warren Warrick farm, great service. they told me i must change the ps fluid though i argued saying that its the original hose that affected the ps fluid so they changed the PS fluid at no extra cost.
had mine done and they must've drained the fluid cause i started noticing a whining noise a couple of days later. found out it was the power steering pump being damaged. pricks!
do i have a case against them? this is peter roberts honda toowoomba
For me, I did not pay anything extra during the PS hose recall with Larke Hoskins Homebush. They did not flush the fluid for me (nor did they suggest that I should do so), so all they did was top up any fluid that was lost during the hose change.
Just got my 110k service done, had the PS hose replaced. They didnt ask me for any thing about the fluid, I checked the levels and it was more than full. Courtney and Patterson VIC
