turbbo it up YO!
taking the easy way out.. boring! :thumbdwn:Quote:

Driving a honda is not all about power, its about balanced performance and reliability. To me driving a type R/s2000 can be more fun than a stock R32/33 GTR on the track & street, ITS ALL ABOUT PERSONAL ENJOYMENT, if you want big power and speed, Honda is not the car for you!!!! :)
werd. honda's are slow.Quote:

Speed limit is 70 on high ways....
i reckon my Type R is sufficient for every day driving....
goes great for what it is... just a puny 1.8L.. but hey!!
its good on the fuel :D
You'll be surprised what it'll do to a "Nissan" Pulsar SSS 2.0L.. :)
honda for life
lol
get a rebuilt motor
even my civic vtir coupe beat the sss 2litre when vtec kicks in its so fun to beat a bigger engine, honda is awsomeQuote:

This would have sounded stupid to me 4 years ago... but ive grown with this car.. its been with me hell and back.... never broken down.. i pretty much know every bolt and screw on it.........
ill wait until the engine blows and get a b18c or somthing... but i dont think i can ever blow this b16a2......... it is stronger than ever...........
If i wanted to beat an R u definitly need more displacement...... unless u have some kick us engine..
cheapest way to do it!! B20 /crvtec........ could be done under 2k.... and you should beat a r.......... or atleast keep up with it........
if you are staying na, swap in a b18cr, best bang for buck and you can sell your b16 to recover some of the costs :D
Forced induction is your only chance mate, if you can afford it, go turbo, or an easy bolt-on then get a Jackson Racing supercharger kit from the USA.
does anyone know how much roughly a integra VTi-R halfcut costs? and a type R halfcut? was thinkn bout going b16a, but i want to be doing 13s one day so i figure in the long run itll be better starting wif a better motor...
wif out doing strengthing internals for b20 vtec i dont think so it will keep up wif typeR'sQuote:

like someone said, u can buy speed but u can't buy skill.
actually ek4 is good enough with b16a2 engine. u should mod for suspension better than power because u can't drive fast all the time, got a speed limited on the street.
if u really want beat type r you should beat it on a track by your skill, this will save your money and improve yourself.
would this thread stop already,
it sucks, everyone knows the mighty b16a will shit on the b18's.
DIY stupid... you dont know a clutch from a brake peddle... noob kakka dont make me laugh especially coming from youQuote:

Sard FPR----
B16A water pump ----
B18C timing belt----
B20B head gasket ----
B20B thermostat ---
Golden Eagle oil line kit ---
And i also know a person who works at home who would drop the engine out and put it back in for $250......
If u get him to drop it out.. and u make the changes to the engine it would cost you under 2k........
and when comparing in pricing the price of a b18c5 would set you back over 3 k to begin with..
where can i find this motor for 1600? lol i want one :) how much kw atw we talkin?Quote:

I was level with the DC2R with EK4 and these mods.
Full intake, 4-1 header, full exhaust, ITR transmission with LSD.
But i couldnt pull away from it.
yeah you'd be surprised how a mildly modded B16 in a civic can keep up with a DC2-R.. have had a few rolling runs with a stock ITR on the freeway and I got past him every time.. from standing it was very even.Quote:

but anyway yeh type R speed is not THAT hard to reach with a hybrid.. swap the type R B18C into your civic and chop all.
Simons Civic is bloody LOUD !
This was what I had on my civic to beat type-Rs (even those with air filter and exhaust)
Spoon Cams, Springs, Cam Gears and Gasket and twin core radiator, earls oil cooler
Apexi Power FC, Filter with cold air intake
Fujitsubo 4-2-1 headers, high flow cat, Buddy Club spec 2/Spoon N1 exhaust
Tein HA coilovers, Cusco Struct Braces
Brake upgrades include endless pads, and brake lines, cusco master cylinder
It still had stock internals
This setup will beat type-Rs and I've never been scared of one....
Was planning for a final drive and LSD, that will kill type-R's with no problem
Mind you, it's kind of scary when I had the cams in coz for a tiny 1.6L,...I was still accelerating at full song going into turn 2 at wakefield (stockies will know their acceleration has already started to tail off)
Well, I rev all the way to 9,000 for gear change (rev cuts at 9,500-9700, forgotten the exact setting)
Took awhile to get the overall balance right too
It was worth it just to see those 4WD turbos and skylines getting their arse wasted at wakefield
But sold the car to go overseas, so it's not in my possession anymore...if i did,...i reckon the final gear, LSD would be in with an upcoming spoon engine (all the way to 11,000rpm)!!!!
nice:thumbsup: set upQuote:

other thing su may consider:
bigger radiator
And mabe a CRV fuel pump to provide sufficent fuel to teh engine
drool...Quote:

You know about this green civic as in this green civic or you know about EK4Quote:

If it's just EK4 in general,..this engine obviously can't get to 11,000rpm...if it could,...,why the heck am I spending on a spoon engine for..;)
This car wouldnt to happen be the car that tracks with bel performance?
Its because ur a spoon whore like 80% of the people on the forumQuote:

two ways to go ,you can boost it or engine conversion,at same time weight reduction.
oh ic.. sorry.Quote:

way to dig up an old thread...
I thought a VTi-R hatch would already be getting pretty close to DC2R straight line performance?
I mean, with good extractors, exhaust, CAI, bigger TB, intake manifold and a tune it should beat a ITR?
no ithink it would need a few more mods transmission wise etc.
Still , this thread is yonks old.
Its proven - without major mods to a vtir ( both EK or DC variant) they will not beat a type R version of the same car.
