The intake is clean but i didn't clean the throttle body, i'll try that before buying a pump, thanks!

Can you chuck us a photo of the fuel injector rail
usually the EGR port has a runner that runs along the top of it
I know some Honda engines here did NOT come with an EGR port like their USA counterparts
If you're stuttering at 2k rpm it's probably your o2 sensor playing up (Under certain light load the ecu takes info from the MAP & o2 sensor)
Does it bog at WoT (wide open throttle)?
Had a similar problem with my old accord, were it would hesitate at that rpm - i replaced my IACV (cleaning did not work) and reset my base idle, after bleeding my coolant and checking vaccuum leaks
Also hows ignition timing?
Any CEL's?
I just had a google, D16Z does not come with EGR

If you need more photos i can take them :)
WOT is always fine.
Checked the radiator and there's no bubbles so it doesn't look like there's a cracked head.
The ignition timing might be a cause. i went to do it today but can't do it because i can't find the little plug thing to cross-wire before a looking at the timing.

i just cleaned the intake manifold. man, it had nice coat of black crud.
I might take if for a drive later to mcD's and see how that goes.
but i do have another question....
there was this hose that goes from the top left corner of the valve cover into the intake. i suspect this is the case if the crud.
Does anyone know if i can remove it? can i just add on of those valve cover external oil filters??

stupid pipe spewing shit in my shit.
Jimper wire
Interested in knowing how she got a fuel pump in there. If all ed3s are carb, was the tank replaced from the concerto or pump added to the existing tank?
Nice car, good to see some of these still knocking around.
OK I've learnt some new things about this bogging down at 2,000
Exhibit A
I have 2 of these problems.
"difficult to start cold engine" & "poor performance - loss of power"
I know the injectors are good, I've already changed the fuel filter for a new one so the only other thing that is mentioned in both of these issues is the fuel pump. That being said, i've disconnected the fuel line from the fuel filter and it seems to prime ok...

Exhibit B
The lag at 2,000 seems to happen more when the engine bay is hot. so it happens more on hot days, and it happens more after running the engine hard. This leads me to believe it might be an O2 sensor failing as it gets hot.
But no, there is no CEL on.
maybe its heat soak lol
post pics of the wiring around the passenger side of the firewall, i might be able to identify it.

I think this is it

Brown and green are the colours for the diagnostic connector so it looks to be it.
I thought it was that too. In the manual it says it's a rubber cap. but this is a connector connected to a sensor in the A/C. But i don't know, maybe it is it.

i'll double check on my car, that looks like a P/S pressure switch.
yup, you're right.
Finding this is more challenging than I thought it would be....
maybe I should make a video of the whole engine bay??
Well here's a video. I just can't figure it out. is there any other way i can make the same cross connection so i can do the timing?

How many km's are on that engine? Has the dizzy ever been opened up? It's an external coil from what I can tell.
No its definitely not external coil.
Could be time to rebuild the Dizzy
OK yeah I could take a look at the dizzy after I did the ignition timing. but I'm still figuring out how to do it so I'll clean the dizzy and see if it helps.
Yes it does have an external coil.
Finally got the exhaust tips sorted. 2inch inlet, 2 x 2.25inch outlet.

Yeeeeeeeiiiiiiiìiiiiiiiiiii!!!
I like what you are doing with this - I've always had a soft spot for ED/EF/EE Civics. Re the piping, if it's blowing a lot of oil into your intake, there's an internal leak somewhere, possibly valve stem seals which is over-pressurising the valve cover. It's normal to blow a little, hence the system. Best bet is to not vent it to the atmosphere as it's illegal but to plumb it into an oil catch can that can be tucked hidden out of the way (and then vented).
WHo put the type r sticker on
Ed type r
I like your car however I don't like your type R sticker.
No offence.
None taken :)
It was already on there when I got it. I guess it's some sort of joke. It'll be coming off when I to the body and paint anyway, I was originally thinking of putting an official type R civic badge on once the new paint gets done.... but my taste in humour has changed a bit since then.... so I'm not so sure.
Mate keep it clean. NO STICKERS!
I would even shave and fill in badge holes so no badges.
Just that clean look.
Just installed a K&N air filter.
Anyone know the best oil catch can set-up for a D16? There's a lot of random info out there.
check out go-autoworks, they make good kits but not cheap.
Thanks i'll check them out
