is someone able to tell me wat motor is in a 93 civic GL
Most probably 1.6L SOHC non VTEC. Have a look at the engine number on the block (in front of the radiator)
Check what engine it is. I drive a 1998 Civic Coupe VTi and it has the D16Y8 engine, which is [acronym:9b5db577bf="Single Overhead Cam"]SOHC[/acronym:9b5db577bf] [acronym:9b5db577bf="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:9b5db577bf].Quote:

seems like not many people ever heard of this engine too...
66kW according to this
Just thought i'd let you know that the 88-92 Civics were 4th gen, Not 3rd gen. My 83-87 (85) Civic is the 3rd gen and the EW4 1.5L SOHC in mine has 63 kw from the factory. Anyone else have a civic like mine? Have a look at http://trd_rolla.boostcruising.com
TRD Rolla
Ok. Everyone who has some questions about what engine their car may have, have a look at this link: http://www.superhonda.com/tech/honda_engine_codes.html
It is a comprehensive guide to every Civic engine ever made (well most anyway). Hope it helps :)

ok reading all this im still unsure.. which civics came with either sohc or dohc Vtec engines between 92 and 95 ?
I've got a 97 EK Vti Coupe (SOHC VTEC), saw in the specs that it doesn't say that it has ABS brakes where all the others do..
I know its got drums on the back (which was a shitty surprise cos the dealer said *4 WHEEL DISCS!* what a dick), does this mean it doesn't have ABS??
Not sure what ABS needs to run, but from the bit I (kinda) know it seems that ABS is only available on 4-wheel-disc cars.
Feel free to prove me wrong, would prefer that actually. If it doens't have ABS I'll have to shove something very sharp and uncomfortable up Mr. Dealer's ass..

hey, im new to ozhonda
i've got an JDM EK3 VTi sohc vtec d15b hatch, juss wonderin if anyone else has one of these ?? seems like i duno anyone else or seen any on the streets.
Can someone tell me if the following is correct regarding the VTi's:
- 1993, 1994, and 1995 all have drivers airbag, sunroof, and the 96kw SOHC VTEC engine?
- Late 1995 is when the EK came in, which had the SOHC non-VTEC 88kw engine?
In the first post it says that '93 and '94 have the 96kw engine, but I've also seen '95 EG's VTi's with a VTEC engine. Whats the deal?
Oh yeah, whats the engine code for the 96kw SOHC VTEC? And where is it located in the engine bay?
I can't remember the contents of the frist post but........Quote:

1991-1993 SI has a dohc non VTEC engine ~96kW
1993-1995 (I think) Vti has a SOHNC VTEC engine ~96kw
Engine number is located on the engine block in front of the radiator (standing in front of the car). It's stamped on the actual block itself just to the left of the headers.
Thanks wynode
I was refferring to the 93-95 models with the SOHC VTEC 96kw engine, because as far as i know the SI doesnt have sunroof or airbag which i want
so how heavy is an eg5 si? too many pplz posting diff sources. one stating 990. other stating 10#$
also how many litres of fuel does it take?
Both hatch/sedan si's take around 42L of fuel.
Sedan Si weighs around 1040, hatch is around 1000kgs
93,94, early 95 civic Vti has sunroof, drivers airbag, a/c, power windows etc
they have a 96kw SOHC engine
and the curb wieght for the Vti sedan is 1060kgs. (and that is NOT a guess, its on both the aus compliance plate and in the owners manual)
I have sorted through all sorts of models but am in dire need (still) on the AUDM models.
So please help (check out the blue vin plate in your engine bay, it has you chassis code on there (pos 4 - 6) as well as your engine code.
Can you please complete the australian model info?
