yes there is paint behind it, there is paint behind all of it. and i wouldnt wait a week when my tuner is in town from the 16th till the 23rd, need it tuned in that time :D plus cant drive my sisters car around for ever. u will get a better idea on the paint when all the masking shit is off

just the wired and shit, i couldnt get them off without breaking all the tags so i just stopped before i did. sprayed the strut tops, but its getting new suspension soonand the brake master cylinder will still be black... hopefully lolQuote:

well the new engine is now practically fully built to go in, just need to put new clutch in then bolt gearbox up and get it in the engine bay, then the fun part starts.
picked up my new turbo as well and also bought a new front mount (pictured), same size just not so dinted and more shiny lol

yep mine is SOLID proof of that d15b7, running 12psi on microtec lt8 ( PIECE OF JUNK!) treated well, warmed up and down, run on the best fuel 98bp ulitimate, and the best oil, mobil 1 5w50. been running for 3 years, no problems yet and still perfect compression
projects coming out nice aza... can't wait till its done! can't wait to see final figures too!!
You didn't tape up the BMC very well. lol I thought you said it was still gonna be black. The whole thing is orange.

Well he said he wants about 10 PSI for a safe reliable daily driver (said so earlier in this thread)
I think 6 or 7 will be safe tho.
i'd be going for a dual stage controller if it was me. 10 psi daily may be 'lil risky when you dont always need it

just because the wastegate/boost controller is set at 10psi doesnt mean he is going to be hitting 10psi every day

as just said it will be on 10-12 psi but will not be hitting that much EVERY time i drive, it is very rare i even hit boost when driving, let alone full boost. with a T3 turbo u r able to drive the care very safely

not sure if you've mentioned it earlier... but you doing a wire tuck while doing this? SOHC's look awesome tucked... place makes soooooo much more space to work!!
and blue rocker cover would set off real nice against the orange!
rocket cover is being done, but not blue. haha need to get on to trav about that he is doing it atm. all i know is its completely shaved and has a fancy design. also it will be tucked after its running again. i want it running first

no parts.... got all the parts, just with a few of the connections not 100% sure how they go. its ok i got a few guys who should be helping me out. should be running within a week and tuned (if all goes to plan). then yes cory i will take u for a spin

Might wanna think about heat management and air flow through the front end of the car otherwise you might run into some issues.

well explain what u mean then?
* you've got a large hole where the AC radiator used to sit so air is going to find its way through that gap instead of through your radiator. yes your car might not over heat but its not as efficient as it could be
* obviously you've got reduced air flow cause of the intercooler. might want to see if you could re-route some cooler air from the front to the radiator or even to the air intake. Every degree counts.
* Your turbo is unshielded so i'ts going to be producing alot of heat which is going to be soaking into surrounding components (block and radiator)
Its small things like this that make it alot better. Might be marginal buts always an improvement.

An oil cooler is not really necessary for a street car unless you are frequently visiting the twisties and giving hell through there. In some cases it can be bad because it will make the oil TOO cool.
Thats why you need a thermostat on your oil cooler.
Any additional cooling you can give to a modified engine the better. there is no such thing as too cool, the oem heat exchange systems will control everything as required.
Also, as the air moving over the radiator is at the same pressure as the air flowing through the open hole where the condenser used to be (also the same pressure as the engine bay) please explain how less air will flow over your core with a "gaping" hole.
There are no ill effects of leaving this area open, except for maybe taking a small bird and subsequently grilling it on your header/manifold. And the only way you are going to get more air over your rad core is to direct it there with some sort of over engineered aluminum splitter and shroud. Waste of time on a road car. especially for the sake of a cooling difference you cannot quantify and especially when the stock honda radiator setup will do the job perfectly. If not, there are plenty of All aluminum items that may be used instead of the oem core.
Go spend some effort on cleaning your wheels or somthing instead of wasting time posting about "gaping holes" that may or may not affect your cooling...
Because its easier for the air to go through the big gap rather then through the small gaps in the radiator.
At the moment i reckon only 30 to 40 % of the air will be going through the radiator, where as if you blank the hole up the air has no where else to go apart from through the radiator. Some of it will find its way through small gaps above the radiator etc but i reckon about 95% of the air will make its way through the radiator now which is alot more then what there was originally.
Have a chat to anyone that has built a hi powered car before and who has had heat management issues. They'll tell you similiar things. Also, have a look at alot of the major drift cars. They have lots of problems with heat because the engine is doin heaps of work and most of the time there is very little air flow going through the front of the car. They really need to get on top of the air flow/heat management problems in order to make a reliable car.
EDIT: Obviously honda's don't drift but airflow is airflow and heat is heat.
like i said. wash your wheels, its a honda. honda's near to never have cooling issues, unless there is a broken part.
And drift cars have heat issues because they are always going sideways and slow and hardly ever straight ahead where maximum airflow is had. Thats why they have elaborate aluminium splitters. Also, look at the style of bodykit. you think that the big front lips and huge airdam is just style? In australia it is, but it all stemmed from grabbing air from the surrounding panels and ducting it towards the rad opening. This is the only way to ram air into the radiator and having a hole next to the radiator is not going to affect it.

The red spray is high pressure area, green spray is low pressure area. The arrows show the direction of air travel. In the 1st and last pic, the air has nowhere to go but through the radiator this big restriction means air is high pressure. Since less air is flowing into the bay, behind the radiator will be of a lower pressure. Greater differences between the 2 pressures means more air flow.
In the 3rd photo, there is a big hole where plenty of the air in front of the radiator can easily escape there will be a greatly reduced high pressure zone in front of the core. Since tons of air is flowing into the bay, it will be of a higher pressure, ie. Less air flow.

Imagine an air blower blowing air down a tube at your radiator (bottom pics) a lot more airs gunna go through the radiator that is sealed up, not just having the air blown at it.
Believe me it will, air flows the path of least resistance. If you have a half size radiator, with nothing next to it, a lot of the air directed toward the core just goes around it. Putting a simple block off plate will raise the air pressure on the front side of the radiator and lower the air pressure behind it, causing more flow through the core. Every bit of resistance for the air going around the core will increase the air through the core.Quote:
