here my clean and simple boot.
im running
x2 12' MB Quart referance series Subs with RF power 5001 amp
MB quart referance series Splits
head unit im unsing is the Alpine CDA 9887
1 gauge stinger wires
the splits were 700
subs were 1k
the 2 amps 1300
and the custom work i did myself - around 50 bucks.
nice set up!!man i was going to go like that...but the experience i had with my impreza..meh not worth it...no boot space at all even to put a bag
oh ok...thats good den...
Even with my setup the boot spae is limiting. It's okay for a roadtrip for the weekend or carrying a bunch of auditors bags, but not much else. Carrying furniture when moving house is a no-no (even with seats down, my amplifier sits on the back of the seat so can't put things on it), and picking up my bodykit requires someone elses' car.
of corz...moving house u need a van man...hehehehe not an FD!
JaCe, do you think lifestyle ppl can install them so its easy to detach whenever you need it? My friends euro has similar installation to yours and he sed if he needs to pickup sum1 from airport, he just detach the cables and take the whole "Fake walls" off the boot... kinda handy eh?
OMG you guys! does anyone here mod there cars so they have more room??? If u wanna put a sound sysem in ur car, obviously ur goin to have less room. if you guys want more space buy a hiace
Rephrase: cant... with 30k u can get a NEW basic FD, but with Hiace only 2nd hand basic model :p
wait hold on..... who's complaining about space. the end of the day, if you want boot space don't do a custom boot. if your looking for more room strip everything out if you want.
what your saying; you have find a chick with big ****, but you complain they're too big.....
its an easy concept buddy, just quit complaining
lol! nice one ssr.
u have a good piont!
well what I sed is we should mod the boot in someway so you can enjoy your sound system and, when needed, you still can get more space.
well thats usually the reason why people place there amps on the backs of
there seats, or under the driver or passenger seat not even in the boot.
i use to have my amp under the drivers seat, but then moved it to the boot
then it comes down to the subs do u want 1 or 2 or some more lol
having 2 is awesome but one does a good enough job, personally i have
one 12" sealed and 2 amps in the boot can detach the sub at any time but
never need to cause i can move it around, mind you its not an FD boot.
but the thing is the FD boot is probly the same size as a CD5 accord boot..
just different shape lol

:)Got my Fascia from DMX
running 1 monoblock Audiobahn Amp A8000T
2 X 15inch Rockford Fosgates for that DEEP DOOF DOOF
and JVC DVD player
setup done by ej20i and myself. :D
This is for a different car but some one might be able to tell me...
how do u wire up a high to low converter so u can run an amp of the stock head unit???
ive wired up everything such as power cables and remote wire jsut need to do this for the RCAs but car audio in hornsby wanna charge me 65 bucks just to do that little high to low converter what a joke...
yes its quite easy, where the seat belts came from the junction of back rest and seat, in the middle there is a 10 mil screw which tied the seat from moving. so first unscrew the 10mil screw and click the left and right on each of the button under the seat and it will pop out. i just did my sound last weekend and thats how i found out.
Yes, its quoite easy to remove the seat. look where the seat belts came from joint between the seat and back rest, there is a 10 mil screw which u need to take it out first in able to release the two clip under the seat. then it will be able to remove the seat easily. for the front engine, yes u can tidy up by putting all the cables into crimp tube...i did mine last weekend and run all the cables under the carpet..not an easy task, but looks more neat...
thanks guys
hey guys...
i'm upgrading the audio on my new fd and was just wondering if anyone had the wiring diagram for the wires that come out of the stock head unit and what they do?
i'm connecting a rockford fosgate 3sixty.1 and need to know which wires are for the speakers?
thanks heaps!
Did anybody get the optional "Bass works sound system"?
From the honda website -
Does this mean it replaces the standard rear speakers?Quote:
This audio performance pack includes two special low-frequency rear speakers, which guarantee high-quality sound in the lowest and low-mid frequency range. Applicable for all Civic variants.
and what is the control unit below?
where does it go?
http://www.honda.com.au/wps/wcm/conn...pg?MOD=AJPERES
$500 :thumbdwn:
there goes that idea,
thanks for the info
i got it for free when i had my FD. It was ok but so not worth it.
Yep i got the bass works speakers as well. Definitly can do better wth aftermarket parts... but since i got it for free... i think it sounds good. But definitly do aftermarket.
sorry for late reply, my HDD folders are mess up :thumbdwn:

awesome! cheers mate!
that must be the most complicated thing ive ever seen in my life
for everyone with splits, where did you mount the tweeters?
i'm trying to figure out where i want to mount them... the spot near the windscreen where the oem ones would go if i had them doesnt look like the best place to put it so i'm wondering what everyone else did...
hahaha true2... ^_^ I believe in other country the civic sports comes with OEM tweeters... or maybe not :p
yeah...we've been thru this...they're playn with us...it looks like ther are tweeters in there but there actually isnt...just an optical illusion
few options :
1. A pillar
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...2007002rx4.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...0062007277.jpg
2. mirror triangle (scarifice)

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9.../DSC00152a.jpg
3. Mirror triangle - non scarifice but messy

4. The best  Mirror triangle -custom pod

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/Image036.jpg
how bout the oem spot??i rekon that wuld look nice and wont attract B*****Ds like thieves
1. oem spot too far, the sound won't be max
2. the tweeter would be facing upward, and the sound would reflex to windscreen and bounce back.
3. oem spot sometimes too small to fit good tweeter (read : big size)
4. we need the tweeter to face to us to get best sound.
:honda::honda::honda:
what do you guys think of this?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....4245&indexURL=
i'm going to be upgrading head units and want to get a double din - so i figure i might as well go with in dash dvd, with blue tooth, i-pod control, etc...
i've never bought anything no-name before... do you think i should spend a little bit extra and get something branded or should would the one shown above be sufficient?
cheers!
That's all true- sound stage isn't the best (so that means points 1,2 and 4 are identical!)... but as you mentioned as well, it's neat and tidy- and people outside who look in, won't know you've modified your sound system and it's less likely to attract attention from bystanders. That's the biggest reason why I did it that way too.
yeah the reason i dont have the ddin dash is cuz im tryn to keep the stock look...not cuz im cheap
i ended up ordering a soundstream double din dvd unit with bluetooth, ipod control, and all the other standard features like sub control etc for $700
btw regarding the ebay links... this is the one we won:

Hey guys i have just installed my facia and head unit, just wondering has any one connected their steering wheel controls to the after market head unit? Mine is Alpine btw. If any one is considering to change their head unit and run the subs and speakers of that, it is well worth it.. the sound quality increased big time! compared to running my amp and sub from stock head unit.
Also if any one is interested where to get the antenna adapter i got it from an AUS company http://www.egear.com.au/
Its called the Scosche Honda 2005 + Antenna adapter Part number is HAAB
I got my old ipod interface which connects to the stock head unit if any one is interested, its the USA spec hon2y which is the neolink which they have rebadged it to sell as neolink.
I hav an alpine unit i mine an u can keep the steerign wheel controls you need to add a PAC controller swi-jack is the model i am pretty sue pm me if you need one
^^^ bodas, I didnt get one... but my friend have it. Its ok for a non-brand product though... cant really find any problem with it... Its like... I prefer to buy this made in China product for less than $500 rather than buy a $1000++ pioneer which is made in Indonesia
i thought i might bring this thread back from the dead.
How about we get a list going of people that have TermLab ( spl tested ) there cars.... And there results
Ill start.. last night
145.9 db off 5000wrms with a crack in my box
hmmm..confirm what ??? ..lol
brackets ?? yes, they (2pcs) come together with 2din dash.
$10 pockets ?? hmm.. seems very hard to find.
FYI. OEM Honda single din drawer (not pocket) about $90-100
sony single drawer with AUX jack inside the drawer (for ipod ?) about $50-60 at supercheap auto (forget the series, i think Sony RM-700 ??)
arrr great thanks mate..
yer im looking to replace the stock HU in my FD1 but cant afford a 2din unit at the moment.
got a nice alpine single for it but didnt know if the 2din dash supported singles.
do you know if its possible to obtain wiring harnesses for the stock HU's? if i take out my stock i don't wanna snip snip my wiring just yet (even though i will probably rewire the car as i upgrade the rest of my gear)
;)
cheers mate, exactly what i'm after ;)
Does anyone know the maximum size the factory tweeter location can hold? The speakers i want are either MB quart ref or premium, but i was told the premium tweeters wont fit in the stock location(premium tweeter size is 1.6") . If that is true then i will just get refs, so does anyone know?
Im pretty sure someone has put in type R splits and they have 2" tweeters. Just need confirmation before i start buying.
anyone here DIYed their FD for sound deadening/sound proof like Dynamat? =)
I have about 25 sheets and a box of dynapad in mine
DIYed? got pics?
I have pics somewhere i did it myself but i am an audio installer
i see.. how much it usually cost if i asking a shop to install for me? =)
Simple DIY. pull apart car. sound deaden all panels with dynamat.. including roof... put car back together lol...
i used 3 bulk packs of dynamat.
yeah simple lol. Did you do the bottom of car?
Im about to get a quote on just front doors and the boot. It was estimated at like $900ish when i asked last time. DIY saves so much money but that's if you can be bothered.
well a bulck pack costs around 300.... it would do boot and doors... probly take 3 - 4 hours of your time.. can u justify paying 150 - 200 a hour to get it done?
omg.. since shop quote so high price.. how about i pay u.. u DIY for me with lower price? hehe.. =)
