Mod: HKS Racing Suction "Reloaded"
Price: 850 New
Performance: 4/5, Picks up cold air from driver fender air guide and HKS air guide.
Install: 4/5, Took 30 minutes, easy install. Just need to remove stock airbox and fit the HKS intake.
Overall: Very Loud Intake (close to ITB noise) with more butt gain from mid to high rpm.
Mod: ASM SPL Header 07
Price: $2000++
Performance: 5/5, Looks awesome when new and it does not discolored after installing, retaining the goldish look. Gives more mid and high rpm gain.
Install: 5/5, same difficuly like any other header, nothing special.
Overall: Very Impressed with the build quality, one of the best or the best from all header for s2000 that I've seen plus it gives good hp gain.

qiute good coilovers but will be changing them out eventually for tein monoflex or ohlins. Just depends on the direction i wish to take with the car
I think they are better than mono flex.
Ohlins are waste of money if you are not going hardcore.
Mod: Bride Ergo II with bride rail.
Tight fit in the S2000 cabin, rails sit you slightly higher, possibly by 1-2cm. Much more comfortable than stock seats. The fit is very tight, and the sliding ability is not as smooth as stock, and it rubs slightly on the centre console.
Looks awesome, it is black leather, grey center mesh, and red stiching. Matches my FDNR knob, Muzz console with red stiching and Type R shift boot.
Really is a holding monster, would be too small if you have a 34 inch waist and above.
Mod: Project Mu HC+ Brake pads

impressions/comments: 0-800 degree temp rating, very good initial bite, very dusty, lots of squealing, very confidence inspiring for hard/track driving...supposedly more rotor friendly than endless brake pads

Mod: TWM Performance Type R Shift Knob

Knob is a replica of the Type R knob except it weighs heavier at 440g. I find that shift feel is improved with this heavier knob and the best thing is the NTIS(Nylon threaded insert system) technology which allows height adjustment to suit individual preferences. It looks good as well with a nice smooth finish.

Details: Not really difficult to install, however did struggle to get bonnet to close and possibly should cut small section of bonnet. It took about 3hours to remove and install intake(in workshop). Carbon finish is good but not great.
Performance: Sounds noticeable inside but not loud, however outside it's not the loudest i've heard but provides ample bark possibly alittle louder than J's Racing. Will post dyno results as soon as dyno and car is availabe.
by the way, any one changed their ECU to any JDM brand here? etc Spoon, Jsracing or Mugen.....
or u guys prefer to get a sub-com and get it tune up.....
Keep in mind these ECUs are tuned to specific conditions. They kinda expect you to have all I/H/E mods of the manufacturer. And because they are JDM they are tuned for Japanese fuel (higher octane) and JDM engines (higher compression). Whether or not you could get any advantage from them here and without a whole host of supporting mods is doubtful.
I guess by sub-com you mean a piggyback. I've played with the V-AFC and E-manage (pre-Ultimate) and there is not much you can achieve with them. Maybe the E-manage Ultimate or AEM FIC could have some advantage.
Then you might consider the AEM EMS or Hondata standalone. Big investment for little return if you're not going FI though.

Is there a way to get a "vtec" light if you would, on an early model s2000? or would it need some serious wiring/ecu work?
looks the goods h17am I used to want one for my old car, had been looking for one like this in awhile. Saw it on a sportivo back in the day but he said he custom made it, and I couldn't be bothered making my own. Super usefull on the track :D
well the shift light now doubles as a vtec light. i set the first light to come on at 6000rpm. so whenever vtec is on, at least 1 of the lights is on. the lights come on progressively from 6000 rpm to 8500 rpm, evenly spaced. after 8500 rpm all 7 LEDs will flash like its on fire.
the great thing is that it has 12 display modes so you can choose how sequence the LEDs light up. And the setpoints are adjustable so you can set it to whatever u want. No engine revving required to set the setpoints too!
oh vyets the vendor (Ecliptech) is in melbourne. hahaha.

Is it hard? No. Just bear in mind that the risk is cutting the wire instead of removing the insulation only. In which case you'd have to solder the wire back.
Do you have to remove wire insulation? Yes. Otherwise what are you connecting to? Plastic isn't a good conductor.
Wanna know more about electrical and wiring? Read books? Hahaha...

DESCRIPTION: Accidently stumbled into buying these as a last minute option (as my intended pads never arrived in time for a trackday). They were stable throughout the whole day. The car had completed over 65laps on the one trackday with these pads. There was no brake fade, no noise and little dust considering the amount of braking it had done. Excellent performing pad in street conditions.

Details : Excellent pedal feel. Not sure whether its due to the shims or pads as I put them both in at the same time. Pads have a superb bite right from cold start. On track, very consistent braking with no brake fade at all. The shims may have contributed to this as well with better heat shielding.
Pads bite better than the Ferodos 2500 imo but the downside is the noise they make. Very squealy even after applying permatex brake quiet. Another downside is the brake dust generated is not easy to wash off.
Rating : Perfect for street/track if you don't mind the squeals/dust.

DETAILS I bought my one with the resonator removed because the steel wool stuff was coming out from it (i don't know why, but i saw it happen). Its super loud and droney at certain revs. 2300-2800 RPM is okay. You need earmuffs if you want to go for 100kph cruise @ 3500+ rpms. It sounds meaty, and has a rasp @ around 6000rp. Especially sweet in tunnels or driving down between tall buildings. Light weight. Fills the rear muffler openings well. Best to keep a resonator with it!

Theoretically, it's about 3,261rpm in 6th using stock gearing, however with friction and wind resistance it's realistically about 3,500rpm.
excuse my ignorance if im missing something here, but how would wind resistance and friction cause a change in mechanical gearing? roadspeed and engine speed should be directly linked through gear ratios, right? if roadspeed is staying at 100km/h but revs are at 3500rpm instead of 3261rpm, doesn't some part of the driveline have to absorb those extra revs? :confused:
That's a good question. Basically, there are effeciency losses throughout the system from things such as slip and friction. To do the calculations, I essentially, multiply RPM by gear ratio by rotations/km based on tyre geometry. Unfortunately, this doesn't account for effeciency losses. These losses are beyond my capability to measure, but I have estimated them based on some testing which have worked out to be fairly accurate with 4.10, 4.56, and 4.57 FD ratios.
Ahh I see. I guess it didn't make sense in my head because I imagined a similar scenario with a bike - ie. if you're riding at a constant speed means your feet are turning the pedals at a certain rpm, but if you're riding into a strong wind at the same speed your feet don't need to turn the pedals faster, just harder. Given that you've done practical testing I guess slip has a something to do with it. Thanks :)
