Far out, stop teasing us and supply us with more goodies.
Hehe, i got a few more photos, just have nothing to resize them. Been sending them to ken to fix it all up though! Nah not a 4G93, its a 6A12TT, a v6 twin turbo, from a mitsi galant vr4.
horrry fark !
well ive come across an absolute ripper !
Its an Integra VTiR with wait for it .. a prelude engine mounted MR configuration and converted to RWD.

Quote :After purchasing a wrecked 97 Prelude VTEC with 90k miles off eBay and a theft recovery 94 GSR in Charlotte, the conversion process is now well on it's way. I spent most of the spring desiging and planning the conversion and began the fabrication process in July.
I basically chopped the front end off the Prelude at the firewall and stripped it down to the front horns shown here with the cross members and lower suspension arms mocked up

Appreciated fellas :) I see some of you have added me. Just let me know who you are... so there is no confusion.
pics up mark? :p
Hi AROUSN
Though it’s certainly not something I would ever do or recommend
I do wish you all the best with your um, interesting & unusual project.
From the pictures & information given,
You seem to have overcome the obvious bothers associated with the fitting the engine & driveline,
and have covered the various other issues associated with making it run in your car etc…
Since I read a few posts ago that you welcome constructive criticism etc.
I thought I’d take you up on that…
How do you propose to overcome your next two considerable hurdles?
In that I mean, how do you propose to be fast enough for your sake?
It’d be a shame if you go to all this trouble & the result is simply people saying,
“Hey, doesn’t that Integra sounds kind of weird”.
From the way you talk about it,
I get the impression you believe it’s going to be convincingly fast.
Could you place some sort of performance target in the mix,
so that the rest of us might gauge your idea of what is fast enough?
Ok, back to the two hurdles I mentioned that I see ahead of you:
1) IMO the 2L Mitsubishi 6A12TT V6 is in no way a remarkable engine.
With a factory 7000rpm red line & two smallish TD025-7G (I think) turbochargers,
(Even if they were TD025-8G items of the larger 2.5L engine.)
How do you propose to produce enough power to beat by more than a whisker, a fairly mildly turbocharged DC2R?
(My question is based on using the compressor flow from the two std turbochargers found on your engine you have as a guide; being generous, the maximum power I can see you’re likely to produce is somewhere around 330hp at the engine.)
2) If and when the power output of the STD engine with boost increase etc is not insufficient to achieve your goal.
What is your plan of attack regarding finding more power when to be honest, you couldn’t have picked an engine with less aftermarket support if you tried.
No offence intended with above statement / questions
Just grabbing the spoon & stirring the pot in the other direction so to speak.
Btw, I think you'll do great at "Autosalon"
They love this kind of thing.
Cheers
Adrian
Some good points mentioned!
Yes, the standard turbos are tiny. And aftermarket parts for this motor are rare as chicken balls. And yes, your right, the engine isnt too remarkable. To start off with, the rods in it are as weak as sticks. So if the standard turbos are upgraded (Which i plan to do quite soon), the rods will have to go. At the moment, i am trying to source out some forged pistons for the motor, but it is quite hard. I know toda, and arias dont make anything for the 6A12TT. As for the rods, mike, with the green lancer, and the 6A12TT, running the single gt35r, was able to souce some rods from the states for around the $1400 mark.
Regarding your comment on people saying the integra sounds weird, i dont see how that will bother me? I didnt build it for them afterall (if your referring to them saying it sounds weird, rather then saying its quite fast, that also wont bother me)
On the standard motor, from experience with people who own the Galant, the motor cannot be boosted in excess of 16psi. I have already purchased 2x TD05-16GBIG for the motor. These however will not be going on until i think the block has enough strength in holding boost with those turbos. It could be awhile until i find someone who does make parts for this car. If i dont find anyone, custom work will be required. Might dig deep into the pockets, but it doesnt bother me.
And yep, the 330HP at the engine is a very generous statement.
If you read the previous posts, you would have read that i did have the old N/A engine, packed with alot of toda goodies. Turbo charging that, because of its high compression would be a complete waste in time, as most things would have to go, and would just add to the costs of labour and parts. It was close to a $25,000 mark to produce a strong B18C7 motor running a Fairly large 600-750HP turbo. Other options included a SR20, out of the S15, a SR20, with quad throttles out of a GTIR, a K20A (correct me if im wrong), which is a honda legend turbo, brought out in 1988, a 6A12TT, or a 4G63 out of a evo 6 or 7. 4G63 was too expensive, k20a too old, SR20 GTIR motor was in the books. At the end it proved to be too expensive. SR20 out of a s15 was also going to be a yes. It had the obvious truck loads of aftermarket parts. But at the end of the day, a V6 got me instead of a 4cyl. Even though it might only be a 2litre.
What i want from this engine, is roughly 200-250kw at the wheels, and to be able to put that down on the track, and when im driving. Im not saying i will get it from the standard engine, but its what i want to acheive at the end of the day. A Low 12 will do me fine.
EDIT : Btw, i was the one who dropped in with a mate. He was asking for a surge tank, 700cc injectors, and a oil catch can from memory. It was for a SR20 in a vitara. I think from memory, we were also laughed at. I dont know what was amusing?
EDIT2 : No offence to the above edit... Just thought it was quite rude thats all.
NOw thats stirring the pot :DQuote:

Either way, its what i like to hear :) People criticising me. If i wanted respect i'd drive the 34 everyday. But im always up for abit of argumentation(word?), etc.
Edit : haha, thanks for the vote in the near future.
This is to adrian...
Out of curiosity, how much would Advan charge for a job like this? Without the AWD system, so still remaining fwd.
Simple bolt on's. Fmic, motec m48 pro, complete exhaust system, engine and gearbox(nimbus) fitted, custom engine mounts, custom crossmember for front engine mount. Including labour and gst. 5 Lug conversion, upgraded disc's and calipers to type-r jap spec brembo brakes, and whatever else will come with a conversion like this.
Or simply, you would not do it?
Great thread.......keep it up guys.................Quote:

Not because it’s too hard. More because we would consider it something we’d rather not be associated with.
(I know I speak for everyone there when I say that)
Hence my first statement, “it is not something I would do or recommend.”
That said, I won’t shy completely from your question.
Regarding total cost, realistically I can only offer an educated guess based of past experiences etc,
so I’d say the total bill would be in the order of $24~25k, drive in drive out.
That would be assuming the engineer was satisfied & the engine was in good working order.
(& not including an engine build but everything else you mentioned)
That would be giving you a neat,
reliable & road legal job where time is taken to do the job right rather than rush it through to stay under a certain budget.
Regarding pistons & rods,
Unless a manufacture actually makes a specific piston to suit this engine, you’re going to have to figure it out.
There’s a very good chance one of the manufacturers already produces a piston that will do the job.
Trouble is it isn’t marketed as such.
You’ll need to know max / min bore size useable, pin diameter, pin height etc.
If you don’t already have your rods.
Use a piston from another engine with a given pin size.
Do your sums & drawings & have Argo in Newcastle (North of Sydney) produce a custom set of rods for you.
That’ll solve both issues at a realistic cost level.
Further, if the pin height & pin diameter are different on the new piston it can be accommodated for in the new rod.
Failing that, & you have a set or rods & cannot find any pistons to do the job.
SPL TODA pistons can be produced for you to suit your application.
Though they’re not cheap, you certainly get your money’s worth.
Just ask Croydon Racing how well the TODA pistons stand up to abuse...
They'd know as that's what's in their world record breaking Drag S14 - DEVLSH (& current world record holder)
Cheers
Adrian
EDIT - about the name.
How about Mitegra?
You could almost make a plate out of it...
Autosalon love that too... ;)
Most autosalon cars that are competing for a high ranking usually arent driven. This one will be. I'll stick with my plate anyhow..Quote:

The bottom half of the engine bay is NOT BLACK. Its a Real dark Kandy purple. Was done to prevent scratches etc coming up real bad during its construction stages, as well as driving.
interesting to say the least. i dunno how i missed this thread before.
good luck and keep us updated
Yeah it was hidden a few pages back for awhile :)Quote:

Haha. Fair enough, I picked the teg :D
EDIT - And out of curiosity, how much power is your turbo teg making?
juz curious, how much power r u planing on pushing with this setup? its very extreme~
also, see this car alot at GP, just curious if ya gonna get the car resprayed the same color as ur engine bay? or leave the bodywork which is currently on it now? AND MAN ITS BEEN DOWN AT GP FOR AGESS!! lol. whens it gonna be finished?
Not at GPC anymore. The cars paint is getting stripped again, though leaving the engine bay. Doing entire car the colour of the bonnet. No more graphics.
But i want to be pushing for starters 200kwatw and work from there. Eventually when im done with the car i want to be around the 300kwatw mark. Thats going to be daily driven also.
200kw + (not including the nos)Quote:

AROUSN.... i give you plenty of credit mate. Being different and making a success of it, is twice as challenging as sitting there doing the same thing as everyone else....
cant wait to see the finished product and be sure to let us know when your gona be out at WSID so we can witness the time it gets....
Awesome dude, thanks :)Quote:

But for a motor with a base like that, and simple bolt ons, doing 200+kw at the wheels i think is good :) Who knows, might push it beyond 300kw's. I know with the pair of GT25/30s and the pistons/rods in, i should be making close to that, if not more on 14-16psi. At the moment im just stuck on 10 with standard turbos, and internals. Americans are abit slow when sending engine parts over.
Nawz is c00l.
atw man , wnt be able to give an quater times till the engine gets put in the dc4 integra i just picked up two weekend ago, bit of an upgrade for a wee gsi, from daily drive to type r killerQuote:

Devalued the crap out of the car? I dont think the car had any decent value to begin with. Also the fact that money is of no concern to me.
Funny you said that though, as i was offered 35k for the car once completion. Better then the 18k i was offered with the old vtec motor.
I think thats a decent price seeing modified cars dont ever get their money back when being sold.
i dont know why everyone is giving you such a hard time.... its a great car, better than seeing the usual turbo b18c or big b20vtec. Keep it up!

Talk about an old thread.
Brings back some memories haha
damn, old thread!
so is it done?
Long story short, i slacked off. Never really finished the car, got lazy, sidetracked, and whatever else life can throw at u.
So now its back in a workshop getting a few things finished. Still need a whole heap of work done on it (not engine wise)...
Brings back memories
lol i just read this thread right from the start to the finish, biggest let down ever! lol gl finishing it though
lol you owe us pics of your car at least.. or 30mins back? haha nah jks. I'm very interestd to see how it turned out
did you end up converting to 4wd?
Nope still a fronty
this seems very interesting................
updated pics would be awsome..........
i hope u find some motivation to finish the build
So how much power did you end up making?
Still at workshop getting a few minor things done to the engine bay. Just purchased the Haltech e11v2, and upgraded the turbos to two TD05's.
Will post pics and figures up once its all done.
looks like we got the ball rolling again ay
haha nice!
Quick update.
Decided to go single turbo. Less fiddling around. Went with the Trust TD06H-20G.
Im sorry to bring this up again, but have you finished man?
Cos if you have, that is some serious respect!
so, how long has the project gone for?
I just read the whole thing... =(
I was expecting a finished car with dyno's and quarter times, especially when this project took flight 5 years ago ahahaha. Still waiting for the results!
