When i first bought my car i was getting about 400 a tank...
I reset the ECU and i was only getting at best 300...
I rest my ECU the other day and im hoping i get back to 400.
How do i check if i'm running to rich? and or how do i change it?
wats ECU ?
I'm telling you from personal experience, yes running premium allows your car to run more efficiently therefore saving you a bit of fuel in the long run, how much would depend on your driving style.
Whether or not this saving outweighs the cost of the premium is another story, but it feels better driving on premium anyway, better response.
I've been running my car on Shell optimax for most of its lifetime and whenever i feel stingy or when i'm pov, I use regular and i notice that i'm not getting the same KM's as I would when I was on premium.
Hope that helps ya.
if you wanna get fidgety with the petrol, theres also an optimal amount of ethanol to be had in your tank for the best efficiency. something less than 10%. reason for this is because the structure of ethanol also contains oxygen which can improve combustion. the more ethanol that combusts, the more energy is transferred to octane, which can improve combustion overall. but dont run ethanol unless honda says your car can take it (or fork out a shiteload as it unclogs your fuel lines and moves the crap to clog up somewhere else). shop around for premium unleaded, some people prefer bp, others prefer shell, etc.
oh and ECU is the electronic control unit? in an efi vehicle, it controls how much air/fuel mixture is pumped per cycle, which in turn can affect how efficiently your vehicle runs. usually people tend to tune their ecu to run their motor lean for a bit more power and a bit less fuel useage. its enough to make a 400rwkw supra do 7L/100km
lol I'm amazed you can only get 300km from a gli even with a heavy foot. I'm getting 400-450 vicinity with my converted breeze.
even with a heavy foot im sure u can get mroe then 300. lol i get more then 300 with a b16 and quite a lot of vtec =p lol
my crx with a ZC(D16) does about 480-490..thats like 38L of fuel and thats with a heavy foot as well
I'm getting around 550 before the lights come on...
