I own an Eg, BUT... I installed "smoked" look side markers on my sisters EK... that count? haha
Put some Skunk2 Pro S II Coilovers on :) (Thanks to Bennjamin for the help)
Sits well now, Tyres are right inline with the guard. They have actually been quite comfy compared to my WRX which has Tein SS on it. The best thing is that it has drastically improved how it handles.
Ill put up some photos when the car and wheels are clean and not covered in dirt from all this rain :(

Also installed a light around my cup holder area. Went orange light to keep the same colour as everything else in the car.

Installed Genuine Type R Rear Bar + Lip. Finally got rid of the bumper moulds.

Bought Og sans 15x8+25 which were off (jdmst mod: JF) old ED.
wrapped in re001 sits perfectly!
I'll be keeping it frost white :)
D/w updates will be done in the build thread section.
Haha yeah looks much nicer without the cxi/gli sticker. At least you can peel it off! Should put a nismo sticker under the civic emblem! Haha saw that once on a fully hektik civic cuzz!! Haha!
Thanks heaps man!
nothing beats OEM fitment!!
picked up these today form JDMyard!

Looks like you have been busy ekx105 lol, Very nice mods, should be a clean ek when its done.
Started painting my valve cover black then decided to paint my CAI pipe black too, dunno why, i was tired and i could of been tripping on paint fumes from painting the valve cover, i stupidly forgot to open the windows in the garage lol. anyway i ran out of paint so i gotta go for a trip when the shops open to get more paint so i can finish them off. should have pics up tomorrow or monday of the finished products installed back on the ek.

What i did, drove to winton race way for track day to chill with a mate............................ my ears are still ringing from 2 hours of constant droning.............. But the amount of quality cars there, top notch! well worth the travel
and my god, how fukkn loud are the Buddy club Spec II exhaust!!!!! Seeker motorsports ek4 was super loud!!!! i want one :D
Changed rear engine mount and thermostat on my EK4
So it seems car wasn't really running a thermostat at all notice in pic thermostat was modified to allow coolant to flow constantly (eg they cut off the bottom bit) which is why my car took forever to warm up. But now with new thermostat installed I've got a problem. Car warms up fine, temp needle sits around the 50% mark and even when I drive it around it stays on the 50% mark but as soon as I hit VTEC the temp needle starts to surge all the way up nearly to the HOT bar!! :( and will only come back down when I stop booting it and drove normally for a min or so, I assume temp drop is due to thermostat finally opening. I know thermostat is working because bottom hose is warm, And I've also checked cooling fan works and comes on when it's supposed to.
Anyone have this problem before? Should I try a lower temp thermostat or is the problem elsewhere. Car never over heated before I changed from non existent thermostat to a CPC thermostat rated at 82 degrees C
http://tapatalk.com/mu/3aa64dab-ed5a-c7dd.jpg
Yeah I did so its definitely not air in the cooling system,
Today I drove the car for about 15 mins changing gear well before 5500rpm (not going into VTEC) and not once did it show signs of overheating I thought hmmm maybe problem fixed it self over night
but at the end of the drive I hit VTEC in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears and surely temp gauge started rising all the way 2 bars from HOT! and would only go back down after i continued to drive normally for 2-3 mins
I'm stumped and lost for ideas, its as if the car heats up dramatically during VTEC and the thermostat isn't opening in time to allow the hot coolant in the engine to circulate back to the radiator.
This obviously wasn't a problem for the "constant flowing back yard modified" thermostat. Because before I changed it, I'd drive the car hard on VTEC and not have any signs of needle movement, this is because the hot coolant would constantly be cycled through the radiator which is why car took forever to warm up!
Decided to get rid of my hubcaps and spray my steelies with the rattle can.
Heres some pics from my iPhone. Will probably finish the last wheel tomorrow and probably put another coat of paint on. I'll put better pics up too with the car under the sun. Hopefully :)

^^^ Looks good, needs some tyre shine tho i recon, i used megiurs nxt generation insane shine and it seemed to work well. What type of paint did you use? I did the same thing to my civic because the hub caps on mine had gutter rash all over them lol.
Thanks buddy :) yeah i'll be putting some tire shine on today once ive finished the last wheel. I just used a spray can. I chose satin black so its not too glossy. Didnt want matt. My hubcaps had gutter rash on them too, plus i dont want my car lowered on rashed hubcaps lol!
Nice one, i meant what type of paint tho sorry lol, like was it just normal spray paint or something specific? Just wondering as i have no idea about painting and what paint to use so i used engine enamel and it seems to be holding up well so far lol but if there is something better to use ill give that a go next time:)
Peeled the "F5 Fujita" vinyl off my cai after the paint had dried, seems to of come up all right considering its my first time laying something under paint, just need to wipe off the adhesive left by the vinyl and shes ready to go back on the EK.

man where you get the 96-98 EK9 front lip from?
got rid of the water built up in my left tail light after the terrential rain we had over the past week, tightened the light back up so hopefully no more leaks! also washed the car for the first time in ages because its finally stopped raining, dont know for how long though, cleaned my wheels and tyres too, looks SO much better. will post pics soon of difference.

Its just regular spray can from bunnings. Just need to do 2-3 coats, which i guess is the norm when using a spray can. Plus its on steelies, so i didnt really need special paint for it. I could always do another layer if it fades. I put 4 layers on just to be black black.
Awesome job with your CAI too! Im sure te same paint you used for it should be alright for your steelies. But like i said, normal spray can can do the job for steelies.
Im guessing your asking me?
Well mines a genuine front bar + lip. Got it imported through jesse streeter. Im sure some traders on here can get you just the lip.
put my car up on carsales :(
Getting my EK project all ready for sale and cleaning it up for inspections :)
Lol your both tratiors to the honda cause... :P So what cars are you guys getting to replace ur ek's??
Probably a more sensible car to have but not as much fun i would think lol.
Finished cleaning up my valve cover after painting it, should be going out to the workshop tonight to put it back together if something doesnt pop up like it ususlly does lol.http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMAG0983.jpg
put in new floor mats, and finally fixed the f*cking driver side speaker, ever since I bought the car i've been wondering why it never worked, sussed it out today and turns out it was never plugged in from manufacture.. fml
thoughts on stickerbombing my sideskirts?
what about the whole car?
Installed my fog lights

Today i stripped interior and all sound deadening, pulled exhaust off to finish the mock up and ordered new mounts for K swap.
Thanks mate, i just sanded it with some 100 grit sandpaper, i think it was emery sandpaper but ill check when i get home from work, i was going to polish it but after sanding it sorta looks like brushed aluminium and i liked it so decided to leave it like that :) need to make sure you use a solid sanding block if you do it so the letters dont get rounded/smoothed off edges.
Heres a pic of the block i used and the type of sandpaper, its abrasive emery cloth 100 grit, got it from bunnings and the sanding block was purchasched from super cheap auto.

Moar painting engine bits, this time im trying plastic, moved onto painting the timing cover and oil dip stick. Decided to hide some of the cables around the drivers side strut tower, will try and clean up the passenger side at some stage but its full of AC and PS lines so dont think i can move them too easily lol.

thats a clean looking d series bay, nice work!
washed my car today, if have time might wipe down the engine bay, its a bit dusty
Thanks mate ive been using the d series to practice painting and hiding wires so i got some experience for when i do an engine swap later on down the track. Ive been enjoying working on the ek, great car for diy'ing.
Put my headers back on after waiting for a week and a bit for a gasket from the US. Blew out the gasket that joins the 2 piece headers together on a mountain run on mount Nebo.

Moar pics when i get :3
^^ Nice and congrats on the purchase! :)
Looks like an EK4 going by the rims? How many ks on the clock?
Yeah Ek4 :) Um 190xxx on the clock, a little high, but it was well maintained, so should be pretty right. It's stock as a rock, which is good, at least i know some fan boy hasn't thrashed the Shit out of it xD
Probably due for a major service, so I guess just get everything checked out if the previous owner hadn't given it a 200k service.
Hey - also noticed you say you have a 95 EK4 - any pics you can show us?
Umm those are the only pics i have at the moment, will take some more when i get the car here, should be within the next week. 95 is bad?
Ordered my Blackworks Racing Coilovers :D:D:D:D, will do a write up on installation and most important, ride impression
Hahaha shit! '95 was probably build date...
whoops i mean 97 LOL
CivicEGSI thats a nice looking ek, definately need moar pics when you get a chance :) Do you have any mods planed for it yet?
No worries mate always glad to help :)
Im thinking of getting a RSB and ASR brace next probably followed by some strut braces then coils later on when i got some spare coin or should i be getting the coils first instead? suspension and brakes are stock atm so need to start working on them i recon.
Hahahahah yeah man, heaps of plans, can't stop thinking about it xD... But have to pay mother back 3.5k :/ Hahahaha so ill get that done first ;)
^^ You moma boy
^^^ Stop Hating, Start Participating :)
Moar LED for the ek :) For all of you that hate on darkness.Tired of not being able to see in the glovebox at night? Put 30 leds in there for ***** and giggles.

Feckk.. Nice!! Looks very neat, shed some more light on how you did it (pun not intended lol) or link to a DIY?
Lol thanks mate ill put up a DIY tomorrow, need to take pics of the switch in the daylight. Its just a panel of leds hooked up so that when the head lights are on and the glove box is open then the glove box lights up, can have it hooked up so its on Accesory or constant if you like but i only use it when i have the lights on so this seemed like good way to do it :)
Hahaha, i like the 'Before' shot, very detailed ;)
Everyone has their own opinion and depends what you can afford at the time, but from what I've read normally springs, shocks first, tower or strut bars, then sway bars but sway bars are a cheap and effective mod if you can't afford a spring/shock combo or coils (personally - I think coilovers are way overrated for everyday use - a good spring/shock combo is more than good enough for the road).
Just my 2 cents :)
^^ Thanks mate im too indecisive when it comes to buying upgrades lol, so any input is great:) with springs and shocks they arnt adjustable are they? that why i was thinking coils as i like to mess round with settings till i have it how i like it :)
Haha thanks mate my phone camera sucks at night, i took a picture in the moon light hoping to be able to see it slightly and thats all i could get lol, thats what it was like trying to find stuff in the glove box tho lol complete darkness.
DIY should be up in a few hours for those interested:thumbsup:
BC racing BR coilovers ftw, they're cheap, have awesome adjustment and are just plain win
Each to their own, I wasn't willing to shell out $2k for good quality coils/install, but if you do some research there are some good spring/combos out there for less which then gives you the money to buy your sway bars and struts. Just a thought. Like I said overrated IMO for daily street use. You'll also find shocks such as Koni yellow are adjustable. This link might help you come to a decision on what's best for your application: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...cks-on-Em1-Ek4
LOL - I thought you just pasted in a black box hahaha
Nice :)
^^^ lol i use superbright leds and they seems to work well, they were recommended on the supra forums a while back and been using them since, they cost more but id rather pay a bit more and not have to redo things :)
Thanks Temp3st And Alvis for the info ill have a bit more of a read, im still a suspension noob expecially with hondas :) It will be a fairly long term project so i dont mind waiting and saving for good parts, i inherited the car from my aunt so i figured i might as well do it up nicely and keep it to remember her :)
Lol nope my phone camera is that bad at night lol :)
heard $A dropped to $1.04... still good but not as good as $1.10...buy your overseas parts while you can LOL
just put my pioneer mvh8250bt in hehe
what are the chances of me finding a decent pair of foggies for the preface lift? without going on eBay
