anyones EP3 engine mounts break or stuff up? mine did today and i heard that oem EP3 mounts are weak...
I also heard the same. I heard that the ep3s engine mount is fairly weak and is the most common prob for this car. :( (how much would it cost to replace/fix anyway?)
they are known to be soft and weak, that's why sometimes when driving the car might feel jumpy as such when shifting. there are different mounts available ranging from about $400 upwards + labour depending on the exchange rate.
If you go for uprated ones then there will be more NVH in the cabin, it's a trade off really. When i had my car i went for a J's Racing strut brace with engine torque damper as a stop gap solution and just set it on a low to medium stiffness and it worked well but it depends on what you are using the car for be it just street driving or track work as well.

Gavin recommended me to go there its ABC something its off parramatta rd. not too sure if its in North Concord though but it might be. I didn't have to supply the part they ordered it in for me.
i spoke to Andrew from IMG and he told me that if ur still under warranty, they will fix it for u.
yeh my whole car and engine is shaking. but if u get aftermarket mounts like hasport or avid there is alot more vibration aswell.
what does EP3 do quarter mile stock??
got my car back from my mechanic, need new mounts cause there stuffed lol
anyone using different mounts in there ep3's that could give me a run down on how they are? i was thinking avids
Mine to i'm thinking whether i should get a Hasport, Avid or just another OEM replacement. Avid and Hasport has alot of vibrations because the mounts are really stiff.
i was thinking innovative, they have 3 types so im guessing the lower ones shouldnt be to harsh compared to avid and hasport
Mugen mounts are basically OEM replacement, have heard from others who have tried them that if you want to put something that is a bit stronger but pretty much feels as if you have stock mounts then Mugen is the way to go.
ive got avid installed on mine..car rattles vibrates.i miss my oem mount :(

i tried to look around for mugen or spoon replacement inserts but couldnt find any, u got a link or no who i could get them from?
nah i don't sorry. try looking at the Spoon or Mugen website type it in goodle and theres and english page there might be one there..
Innovative , Avid Racing , Hasport = They all will produce very similar vibration. But those mounts will handle any abuse on circuit or drag strip.
If you want something abit stiffer than OEM , try Spoon or Mugen engine mounts.
what is the result of the mount being stiffer? is it heaps of vibration?

I am going overseas soon for about 2 months. Is there anything i should take note in? like not starting the car for the whole 2 months or anything?
Disconnect the battery or just have a trickle charger on it so the battery doesn't go flat,
have as little fuel in it as possible and when you get back take it really easy on the car as the fuel will be stale,
and also give the car a good clean before you leave as you don't want any dirt or bug poo etc etching into the clear or dirt on the wheels just caking on and so on so on.
No probs, happy to help. If i were you, use a trickle charger as then you don't lose radio stations and also don't have to worry about then resetting your power windows as well.
Hey guys, Im currently new to the Honda scene and just sold my S15 and was looking at buying a civic type R, I fell in love with the Ep3 and the current shape one. Just wanted to check, how are parts like? expensive? are they hard to get? are there many around? how quick are they? I had a silvia so parts were cheap and easy to get.. When purchasing my ep3 is there anything i should look out for to make sure its genuine JDM? as i've been told there from the U.K but japan also?
any help would be appreciated.
parts are pretty hard to find, used i mean but if ur talking brand new theres a few traders around who can get the goods for u but prices wont be very friendly
imo i reckon ep3's would be harder to get now cause of the current us dollar so low i doubt importers would wanna import until the dollar goes better so ur best chance would be to look for a private sale, EGBOY and EGADS are both selling there ep3's with minor mods so thats a bonus
i heard that only the jdm ep3 came in champ white and UK came in other colors? correct me anyone if im wrong, cluster 180km, lsd gb, thats all i could think of atm but thats my 2 cents

it wouldn't hurt with all three of those things but being 2 weeks it isn't as much of an issue, the only thing i would really take into account is the battery as it is a pain if it goes flat. The other two it is more up to you i guess pending time constraints to clean the car but it would be best to do that obviously.
what is with everyone and moving from S15s?
and how do EP3 stack up against them? I reckon if they were both standard the EP3 would seriously have a chance against the S15
I'd rather the EP3, as S15s have a badly designed box when compared to previous sil gens (S13,S14).
Saw one of the EP3s the other day at Honda getting something for it, very solid car, still yet to drive one
Boys just had my car dyno tuned with apexi vafc2, mods are gruppeM air intake and Fujitsubo RM-01A catback exhaust, result is 175hp@wheels, my tuner recon I could get 180 if it was cooler day but here in perth it was just over 30 yeaterday so yeah pretty hot. Anyway car is running very smooth and makes power all the way into the red line.
I'll try to put dyno sheet up soon. Overall I'm very happy with the result, it's making more power than my S2K and DC2R use to make.
thats just over 131kw, very nice, though pity about the weather. there is definitely more in it since i made 129.8kw, but your mods > my mods

egads' results is pretty good considering he has only mugen airbox and mugen catback i believe.
i got told that good header (prob toda) would give me maybe extra 10hp at wheels and more power in mid range, definitly something I want to get in future, but at the moment everything is so expensive cos of our $$$$ getting farked :(
One other thing I like about this set up is sound, it's almost like a stock car when driving normaly but once you hit 6000rpm it changes to lovely sound, and I think gruppeM makes more sound than exhaust hehe.
yeah ep3 do around 120kw at the wheels give or take a lil
when i got my ep3 i got it dyno'ed stock and it was 119.3kw. Now ive got a gruppe m and toda cat back exhaust and doing 137.6kw. I gained quiet abit of power once the intake was installed and also the awesome sound of the engine opening up when in vtec :D
malenic try and get a dyno when the weather a bit cooler :D bl that the weather was abit warm that sucks. Also yeah the gruppe m makes more noise then the cat back yeah ?? thats what i reckon aswell ! ! lol
Man very hard to get cool weather in perth at the moment, today was like almost 40 hehe, prob have to wait until summer is over.

i think after 30000km you need to replace it.
Last time i checked and found it was very expensive. Most gruppem intake use the same filter and cost $300+. Especially since our AUD is not very good, it will hurt our wallet quite dearly.
30000km?? that's ok, it's gonna take me at least couple of years (if not more) to do that much, I work away from home so I don't get to drive it much
get 3in exhaust and top end headers from the states and crack 150kw!!

steve, how much did you get yours when our AUD was up?
i got mine the same way Steve did, paid $870 odd i think.
Just get the k&n cleaner kit for about $30 and do it every 5000km and you will never need to replace the filter, blow it out with some compressed air first then follow the instructions on the cleaner kit.

Ok went for drags tonight, was pretty good with lots of different cars, anyway my best time was 14.5, also did 15.07 on my first run, 14.7 and 14.8, I'm pretty happy with 14.5 I didn't strip the car or take tyre pressure down, so it was same as driven on street, my biggest problem was wheel spin on take offs (pretty much first gear), power wise I love ep3, once I hit second gear and get grip it flys.
Room for improvment? yes definitly, I don't think I need more power just more grip, with more grip I think car would be able to brake into 13s, plus some weight reduction it could be pretty fast, well I hope in 09 I'll be hitting 13s hehe
My mates did 13.2 (Evo 6 TME), WRX STi 13.3 and Lexus IS-F 12.8 (love that IS-F)

14.5 was my best time, as for EK doing that time with CAI and zorst, good luck mate hehe, don't know if you ever went for drags but it's not that simple, I use to have DC2R I was doing 14.7 with it (later my mate managed 14.3), with S2K I did 14.9 so EP3 is pretty good
if I had better traction 13s would be very possible, power of EP3 is not problem here it's just traction on takeoffs

14.5 is a good time for ur first time considering u havent had ur car for long :) good work Malenic. Go acouple more times and u should hit the 13s for sure mate. EP3 has power its just the launch that screws us up because as u stated the car wheel spins heaps. Ive taken my car to drag way once and my best time i did was 14.1. Im going to purchase bridgestone adrenalins and i reckon the car will easily hit the 13s for sure because i ran the 14.1 with my worn out kumho tyres. Cool thing was aswell i cherped 2nd and 3rds :D (haha it feels good at the time but means nothing i know :( )
Also on the night i went to the drags there was another ep3 there aswell. His been there quiet a few times and he just has a airtake intake setup and catback and his best time he has managed was 13.8. So yeah power and grip is good but it also comes down to experience of the driver aswell and knowing how to launch ur car.

hmm I had 157km/h on my 14.5 run, too much wheel spin hehe
on my best run (14.5) was around 3.5K, but I was sort of riding the clutch, the other times it was 4, 4.5k
