My mate suggested that I was able to reprogram my remote suit my EP3R. I wasn't too convinced, but we gave it a go anyways.
He searched the net and we found the steps on how to do it HERE.
It didn't work the very few times we tried to reprogram my remote, but we decided to give it one more go, and finally it worked!
Now I have two keys with two remotes.

Whats the average price paid? i am looking to hopefully get one in a few months... only thing holding me back is the insurance cost, and the chances of it being stolen

surprisingly the insurance for EP3 (@$30k agreed value) is cheaper than what i'm paying for my Jazz (04 with mkt value).
cheaper than a DC2R (@$20k agreed value) and a brand new Golf GTI.
but i have a clean record tho.
