that facelight looks good :D
hey guys! long time no mod/post, since its the start of easter holidays i decided to buy and install Paul's new carbon fibre Mugen Grill that he has in stock at www.bodykitskingdom.com.au for our CU2's.
took some shots while installing it, the fitment was not the best and it was missing some holes for the clips on the bumper to hold it so had to use double sided tape, luckily there were bracers on top of the grill so that it would hold on to the radiator cover however those bracers didn't have holes in them either! so we had to drill our own.

Hey guys,
What do you think of chrome highlights for the headlights:
http://tiny.cc/dzj69
Would this be the right globe size for my euro? 2010 model btw :D
Low Beam Headlight Bulb Size: HID-D2S
High Beam Headlight Bulb Size: 9005
to cut up into a custom grill (i.e. no middle bar) and then spray paint to match car.
probably replace the super ugly mesh behind it too. that mesh pattern makes me shudder everytime i see it (mazdas 4wds have it exposed..ugh)
any ideas for the bottom grill?
turbo + radiator:D
shitttt so my friend is right...its the h1 hahaha i thought it was d2s, has anyone changed to hids on their cu2?
Haha, D2S is for the lux version. I've got HIDs for both my lows and fogs :) and changed my high beam's bulbs too :D
Man i cant yank the globes out...do i really have 2 open that tyre cover thing to get it out :(
getting hids installed on this car seems like alot more work then the camry and the rav4 ==" where do u hide ur ballasts?
As far as I know you'd have to =(...even the stupid Jazz is designed like that =_=" (probably a Honda Thing)...so stupid...Jazz it takes heaps long coz it's so hard to unclip it from underneath...took less than a minute for both my dad's Corolla's low beams yesterday =\
I hid my ballasts around the front bar (within the bumper), zip tied to wherever there is space for it haha
sighsssssssssss ill just fetch one off firesport, i think we got a maxvision seller lurking around the forum.
fkkkkk my k&n drop in filter is taking its sorry ass time coming 2 melbourne ==
do u have 2 move the tyre again 2 install the driver side ligh? or is it for the passenger side only?
Haha fair enough mate.
Where did you order your drop in filter from?
I'm not sure...coz I removed my bumper when I installed it lol...I'm guessing you might have to @_@
damn ==" so look like i have 2 remove my bumper for this job whoop whoop hahaha
The seller :) on ebay
That's the part i got....
Ah ok...US IS pretty far :P
You don't HAVE to but it'll be easier since you wanna hide your ballasts haha
Has anyone here done any weight reduction on their euro's yet?
MKI4EVA. Looks like Usd is getting closer to 1.10. :)
damn i wish i lived in melbourne...
yeah thats the word i was looking for, "TRANSformer" more than meets the eye?
Hi buddah51au, i never received any emails from you. two possible problems, either you didnt enter the correct email address for us to reply back or it was caught by spam filter. either way we are aware of this problem and we are rolling out jdmc v2 which will ensure all enquries are received.
we always answer email and LM9 not hard to get quote for...
what did youend up getting buddah? i struck out on the ron jons too
Nothing as yet mate, still running OEM. It is such a tough decision, add to that I Have probate on a deceased estate in progress which is making me think about updating to the new model CU2 when it arrives. But also in mind is the fact that my car rarely leaves the garage these days, so why spend money on it. Since moving to Hervey Bay, everything I need is within a few kms, so it is far better to do what is needed on 2 wheels. The car just sits in a garage with a cover over it. I am in no hurry to make any decisions, but at present I intend to wait for probate to be finalised & I will either update to a new CU2, or keep what I have, add a nice set of wheels, a Modulo kit & possibly a Fujitsubo exhaust, bit will definitely not be lowering it.
Regardless of getting an update model or keeping my current car I think I will be getting a set of Work Varianza SCHWERT SC1. That is my current thinking anyway.
price? pics?

Well it has been over a month since my installation was to take place, and I'm not much closer to it. My son's motor bike was damaged while parked and TOTALLED so he's been using my wife's car until the bike gets replaced. So I can't monopolise her car while mine is in the audio shop. Hopefully in two weeks' time.
In the meantime, the audio has been adjusted. Gone are the back door speakers. An extra amplifier has been thrown in - a Schneider SPA 9702A 2-channel amp. My Hertz HSK165 splits are being split - they are losing the passive crossover and going active crossover so they can be time-aligned by the JBL MS-8.
I'm also replacing the battery, going for a FULLRIVER 12V 55AH DEEP CYCLE AGM battery. This battery is 100% spill-proof even if damaged, can be discharged to over 80% of capacity which makes it excellent for high power amps, yet provides sufficient instantaneous cranking current for repeated engine starting. It has a 2 year warranty and a 5-to-10 year service life. Actual voltage available will be significantly greater than 12 volts, probably over 14 volts, which is optimum for most high quality car audio amplifiers. The 3.5 farad capacitor should keep the voltage to the amps more-or-less constant to the amplifiers. The battery terminals will be replaced with gold-plated terminals with digital voltage readout, able to accept multiple + and - cables up to 0GA. Total fuse requirements still to be determined.
- Bury CC9060 IQ voice-controlled Bluetooth
- Bury Series 9 Modular Base and Active Phone Cradle for HTC Desire
- JBL MS-8 8-channel Digital Sound Processor / 8-channel Amplifier
- Alpine MRV-F405 4-channel Amplifier
- Schneider SPA 3072A 2-channel Amplifier
- Schneider SPA 6000x mono block Amplifier
- Hertz HSK 165 splits (new model) for front doors and pillars (replacing existing speakers)
- Infinity 652i coax speakers for rear parcel shelf (replacing existing speakers)
- Infinity 452i coax speaker for centre front shelf (replacing existing speaker)
- Phase Linear HC-12 subwoofer for boot
- VFM Audio 1.4 cu ft sealed subwoofer enclosure
- SSL 3.5 Farad stiffening capacitor
- FullRiver 12V 55AH deep cycle AGM battery
I have edge-braced and massively sound-deadened the subwoofer enclosure. For some subs sound-deadening can be a problem as it effectively increases the volume by perhaps 15%, putting more strain on the sub's motor (most subs rely to some extent on the internal air pressure of the enclosure to help the motor return the cone to rest. The Phase Linear sub can be used as a "free-air" sub, so its motor is not expected to require that help).
The wheel arches have been sound-deadened, using 3M Sound Deadener spray paint. The result has been very good, but I shall be adding more sound deadener in the next few days as I'm not completely happy with it yet.
The bonnet has been sound-deadened using a combination of constrained layer dampening (CLD) (like DynaMat) over 25% of the surface, then covered by foam-backed Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV). Sound deadening the bonnet has been very instructive - the direction of engine noise has changed from my face to my feet, meaning that the bonnet was one major conduit of engine noise, with the rest coming through the firewall.
The boot area under the spare tyre has been sound deadened using CLD 25% and completely covered by MLV. Exhaust noise has been lessened, but not nearly enough - the rest of the boot floor needs to be done.
The following areas will be similarly sound-proofed or sound-deadened:
- Rear shelf
- Boot
- Doors
- Firewall
- Floor between firewall and front seats
That's all for now
Regards
Warren
You know those crappy excuses for speakers that Honda put in your CU2? They are none other than Alpines!!! The very worst speakers that I've ever seen, made by a company that can definitely make good car speakers. Infinity's retail speakers are slightly laid back but very natural sounding - not a shadow on the Hertz speakers though. Not sure if you know, but Infinity was the first company in the world to market a super-expensive domestic speaker - the Infinity IRS was considered for several years to be the best domestic speaker in the world, at a paltry US$65,000 when US$1 was real money.
You just made the Kia sound like a really good deal LOL!!!
check this out, sampling of the Infinity system in a Kia Optima, lightyears ahead of the CL9 and CU2 what do you think?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHgq-7aDWus
Try the new Optima... Just go and try it, I was very impressed, not at least the GDI engine, 148KW on 91RON while drinking the same as a CU2
The new Gen Theta engine is so advanced Mitsubishi and Chrysler is paying Hyundai/Kia for the right to use it.
The Current Mitsubishi Lancer and Lancer Evolution are running on modified HYUNDAI/Kia engine's (Mitsubishi 4B11/4B11T/4B12)
I'm waiting on the Optima turbo version to come out, 204KW, 365Nm, Less than 9L/100KM combined (still drooling over the Coupe version), only thing I'd do is swap out the terrible Nexen tyres for a set of Falken's or Sumitomos
My opinion is the new optima is a huge step forward for Kia. The major problem for me is a fully sealed auto transmission, meaning you cant change the oil. Therefore the transmission is a disposable unit, not suitable for those who wish to keep a car longer than 5 years.
I have checked with my dealer - Honda / Subaru / Kia / Suzuki Franchise, they say you cant even drain the oil, at least they haven't found any drain plugs as yet.
The other problem I've found with Kia cars that I have driven is the lack of noise shielding of any type - wind noise, tyre noise, motor noise, exhaust noise all are above average. It sounds like they want to radically reposition themselves in the market, so I expect their lack of noise insulation is also being improved.
The owners manual/logbook tells them to change ATF fluid every 60,000 miles under severe usage... So you have to be able to do it otherwise it won't be on the manual.
Tell the dealer people to read their workshop manual. again and if they STILL don't get it give them this:
See the link below, download the PDF "Auto_trans_fluid_service.pdf" (abotu 1/2 way down the page)it's the workshop manual for the 6spd auto tranny on the hyundai/kia platform. theres no dipstick to avoid contamination/oxidation.
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t48206...ansmission.htm
It'll be interesting to see how many cars got ruined cause dealers don't know what they supposed to know.
Engine is still nosier than the Euro (at least the CL9), but all Direct-inject engines are like that.
Ok back to topic anyone else had upgraded their sound system in the CU2?
upgraded? as in the speakers/subs and headunit? cbfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff i looked at it, too many speakers =="
just installed my k&n drop in filter for the cu2, its mintttttt =D fuel consumption kept dropping...now its about 7.2lt/100km :D
It isn't really that many speakers you need to replace - all you need to keep for great sound are a pair of front splits, centre front, and sub. If you have people regularly in the back, you may also want to put in replacement parcel shelf speakers. The big problem is that the head unit is equalised to try to compensate for the existing terrible speakers - replacing these speakers with good ones, and feeding them using the same signals, would be even worse than not replacing them at all. So you need a Digital Sound Processor which can pre-equalise back to normal (or completely replace the head unit which is a real bitch). Using a DSP which does automatic time alignment, such as the Alpine or JBL, means that you can get a sound system with a real stereo sound stage.
hrmmmms guess i can look into it again...
anyways has anyone got hids low beam on their cu2 cheaper then $120 + installation ><?
Hi Guys,
I am looking in upgrading my alloys wheels with these!
Honda Accord 18" Delta Alloy Wheel
I can source these from the UK but can not find a Honda dealer here in Brissie.
Does anyone know if these can be sourced from here in Australia?
arent they 17"s
*edit*
oh wait you said accord
No they are 18" wheels here is the link
http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genui...eel-p-663.html
I would if I lived in Melb or if you drove up to Brissy just to do them :P
just an FYI the HID installation is a bit more trickier on the CU2 than Toyotas...Toyota headlight changing in general is way easier to do...Honda = accessing the bulb through the wheel flap (or watever it called haha)
It's a USDM car it appears.
Leftie drive...its a usdm :)
Hi Guys,
I contacted Cox Motor Parts and ask for the shipping cost to Australia.
Price per wheel 145.00 pounds X 4 add 250.00 pounds for shipping = 830.00 pound
830 X $1.51 AUD = $1250 delivered to door.
do you think that is a good price?
