i was also told by the 'professionals' at bob jane that c-drive was the successor of a539 as a539 was old technology. honestly i would get a539 over any tire anyday of the week best bang for ur buck in the yoko range anyway and if ur an advent tracking looking for real grip your not gonna run es100 or a539 anyway....
so for daily driven cars looking for excellent road grip, minimal noise, good tyre life and not to harsh on the pockets i would say a539...BUT its true that they have been around for awhile so they are kinda old technology....and seriously no complaints about c-drive thus far...oh besides a bit on the noisy side when travelling at higher speeds...
in summary IMHO
a539 - way to go
es100 - waste of money - unless tracking and daily driven reguarly...den agen better of running to sets of tyres...
c-drive - still thinking...
c drive > a539.
es100 > a539.
Thanks guys, I'll look for the A539 for a while cause my new rims haven't arrived yet, but if I can't find any by that time, I'll go for the es100. Trust me, my car is driven regularly haha!
Get C Drives... they are awsome tires... Got them on my type R atm. A really soft compound tire, when u burn out they don't make a noise... sort of like that semi slick sound. They offer really good grip in the dry, won't say much for the wet. Really happy with them tho!
I had them on my DC2- r they great tires in the dry. Not in the wet tho. Really good for street and track! Offers awsome grip! Not noisy, I think the C-drives are better, and they have replaced the A539's! And they last quite long compared to pirelli and bridgestone and stuff!
Has ne1 ever used Kumho ECSTA SPT before. What did u think of the tyre. Was quoted $200 each for 205/45/16, including fitting n balance.
Well the ES100's have been worn in for a while now and I am very happy with the performance in all conditions, even in the wet they're fantastic, I highly recommend if you can afford them otherwise C-Drive's would suffice.Quote:

But 225/45R17 Tyres for the Euro Sport/Luxury. Apart from the stock Potenza REO40's are there any good recommendations for an all-rounder that has a decent tread-life?
Don't care so much about price.
C.Drives. Performance is as good as the high po tyres like G3, but much quieter. Downside is the price. For 225/45 R17, you might be looking at 250-300 per tyre.
