sexy fog lights mate! is that leds? or HID? add the angle eyes with audi led's = perfect!
its not fogs.they are just leds that blinks with the blinker
I thought the angel eye with audi's led haven't come out yet? Correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm waiting to get one of those to pair up with HID.
yea its out maing...
but 2 b honest bro...it looks kinda tacky
so you reckon the old angel eye will look better? is there anyone has a pic with the new angel eye on their lovely FD?
noob here. never changed rims before
Looking to upgrade my stock 16s to 18X7.5. The tyres available are 215/40 or 225/40 with the closest % difference.
My question is, if i go into a tyre store and ask for 225/40 (for example), will they all fit my 18X7.5? Or are there additional specs i need to look out for?
Also FD2 lugs are 12mm X 1.5"? Again, it will slot into all rims?
chers
shimian use this to calculate stock rolling diametre vs new rolling diametre http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
thanks. my question is, if i walk into a tyre store and ask for either one of those spec tyres, will it fit any 18 inch regardless of offset or width? im not sure if theres anything else i need to look out for.
Heres the spec

Planning to get one of those with HID as well.

can someone link me with the correct red honda badge for the FD? The ebay store here: http://stores.ebay.com/bestjdmparts_...dZ2QQpZ5QQtZkm
is pretty ambiguous about which one is actually for the civic FD..
cheers
edit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-R...mZ360105746780
would it be that one? Anyone actually purchased from here?
why don't you just buy from JDM yard? they're australian dealer...anyways i think this is the right one...maybe get some other guys to double confirm as well...

ahh sorry shimian i read what you said wrong,
for a 7.5 " wide rim i would go for a 225 or a 235
only because a 215 is a bit too narrow for a 7.5 IMHO, 225 x 40 x r18 is a much more common tire size in my opinion so probably easier to find the tire you want etc.
tires have nothing to do with offset, thats your rims.
the only things you need to know are what size i.e 225/40/r18 and of course most importantly what rubber you are after :)
thanks for the info. Ill go get myself some decent 225/40 tyres.
I had another question.
"Also FD2 lugs are 12mm X 1.5"? Again, it will slot into all rims?"
Can someone confirm if FD2 lugs/wheel locks are 12mm X 1.5"? Therefore i just buy this size and it will fit my 18"x7.5?
cheers
^Buy any Lugnuts which are 1.5" and you'll be fine, the length is irrelevant. Just depends on how much you want it to stick out.
Shimian, can you share the info on what tyres u got and how much u spend on them? I'm currently looking for the same size as well
yeh 1.5 mm thread is all hondas i think
what tires did yo uhave in mind?
using adrenalins at the moment and i love them, obviously not as good as re01r or ad07 but i get around the local track with hardly any problems :)
Agreed!! RE001's are great, bang for buck as most people would agree.
they are pretty good...i scored some awesome tyres when i just bought my rims
i got dunlop sp sport 9000...s 500 tyres yo..and they stik...i mean they STICK!!!!!
^ how much and what size?
i got it with the whole rims...17s with 215/45
2 dunlop sp sport 9000 and 2 kumho ecsta for rears all up for 1180 wand trade in with the stock vti tyres which are dunlop sp sport 300
Depends on the colour of your car, my one's is black FD and i managed to get the red badge(back part) with black layer after the silver layer which makes the badge stands like this ---------> /| instead of //
The original red badge (back part) will sit vertically instead of following your body curve.
Yea i got a black FD, oh what u mean? Well i just want red badges that perfectly fit the FD. I've foudn some from JDMconcept, geeze these things are a bit pricey ey..
uhm how do you install them on? is it easy? Cos on the pictures ive seen come screws and stuff, so just wondering how it fits in..
denot, if i were u...i'd try 2 sell em my self...i traded mine in with 99% thread...30 mins of the dealer
^^^ thanks EJ, I will post up these on the selling thread latter on...
@ shimian: looks like you've sorted out the size of the tyres but you might want to consider the load rating as well. FD1s require at least 91 load rating. speed rating shouldn't be a problem for tyres over 17" as they at least have "W" speed rating.
225 wide tyres should be perfect for 7.5" wide rims.
@ dmx: thanks for the input. looks like the ebay ducktail won't really be curved from the side view as you illustrated in the pics that you posted coz it will be on top of the boot lid (similar to your ducktail). the curve that i'm concerned of is if you look from the back of the car (green curved line on the pic of your car with ducktail). you think this curve of the boot lid for the JDM/AuDM same with that for the USDM boot lid?

Got my base figure before any performance mods
Will upload a video soon.

wow, did I see 73KW??? O.O
Edit: what does it mean by "Gear: 4"?
73Kw @ wheels in 4th gear @ 176Kph 6750rpm
Only thing remotely related to the engine is Optima Battery and Earthing Kit
If i'm not mistaken, the vti/vtil have the same engine and whatnot, and i got 80.8kw at the wheels.. (car was stock back then)
What was the top speed of ur 4th gear? Mine was 204km/h on the dyno...
Where was your dyno done?
Was done at GFS in taren point
Was yours on a hub dyno?
how much does it cost??
$75 they run the car up twice and you get a laminated printout of the better run
a rim guard is when the tyre comes out abit further than the lip of the rims so u can gutter the tyre first then the rim...but most of the time...its bull...u'll hit the rim anywae...hahahha just becareful
noob question:
Does all centre caps fit all cars?
nope. they range in size and diameter.
Haha i dont install them my self, dont think its easy hence front parts would need the front bumper taken off first i think.
It is pricey and the worst thing is pricey items doesnt mean original, I am not sure whether JDM concept has original one's or not but the same measurement testing still applies.
if you stick the original rear red emblems, it will sit vertically as in /|
from the side
/ = your car body
| = your emblems
if its fake it will sit like this / /
Hope you got it.
hey guys.. i get my new extractors made and fitted on friday. along with full highflow exhaust.. anyone got extrator yet?
so the rear emblem comes with two pins? anyone installed the front emblem as well? and DIYer?
well its custom made.. mine was 700 bucks. but it could be anything.. all comes down to the shop.
700 for a custom made exhaust and extractors? pretty cheap .. show us some pics heh
will post up pics on friday
as i thats when it gets done.
Exotic exhaust here in brisbane are doing it... there pretty famous here.. and know there shit.
anyone from melbourne who driving FD interested to go clayton tomorrow? will going there to install my HIDs and grounding kits.. =)
hids and grounding kit installation??how much is that?
y dont u just d.i.y
Yeh depends if u wanna keep the original H then dont do it my way but i just got a screw driver and popped it out...
It broke the 2 clips holding it in though so yeh up to you...
then the red badge just has two pins and is covered in 3M tape and just goes straight into place...
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3.../PA2400641.jpg
so when u pop the silver H out, it just leaves that black plastic backing right? and the red badge just goes over?
sorry to butt in but yeah, that's right. the plastic backing where the double adhesive 3M tape will stick on to and 2 holes where the 2 pins of the red H emblem will slip into.
by the way, anyone of you guys heard about fitment and quality of the replica mugen kits from here => http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HONDA-CIVIC-S...1%7C240%3A1318
thanks for the info.. but do anyone have the pics after take out the silver H? so u mean if using screwdriver and popped it out.. the H will surely broke? =(
80 bucks haha for 20mins work... ill do it for a 6pack of beer
The H doesnt break just the 2 little clips on the back of the H break..
I put my standard H back on using super glue when i sold the car and it didnt move a bit...so yeh it is possible to put the normal H back on..
haha.. but i dont know how to DIY.. so i need to pay for it.. too bad.. =(
so u mean the clip will broke.. so the clips will stuck on the grill.. then the Red H also need to cut to clips and stick on it? thanks..
anyone tried using a hair drier?/heatgun?
if theres two clips, i dont think its gonna work.
anyway, that body kit is damn cheap.. 400bucks? other ones made of polyurethane are aronud 700+. but i wonder if its good quality.... anyone had experience with it?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HONDA-CIVIC-S...1%7C240%3A1318
yeah true, although ending in one day, and no bids as of yet, i doubt there will be that many bids on it. so no one has experience with this ABS plastic one?
399 is quite cheap.. but without paint.. paint will cost u a bomb.. =)
ah paint's not an issue for me, got a mate who can provide installation + paint for me. But yeah quality and reliability is the main problem.
u got a mate???hook us up yo...been wanting to get the dam kit...but cant afford paint!!!
yeah.. im wondering your mate charge you how much on paint? i heard my friend said it normally charge 400-600 for full set paint.. =(
yeah, seriously paint is an insane cost.. its like more than the kit itself almost.. but uhm i'll have to arrange a few things with my mate, its actually my mate's dad but yeah haha i'll see what i can come up with.
so uhm anyone got recommended kits to purchase? like.. ebay sellers to buy from and stuff.
yes, the clip will break if you use a screw driver to pry the original chrome H out. you can take it out without breaking those 2 pins if you take out the whole grille and work from the back. the 2 pins on the chrome H are actually held in place by circular metal 1-way fasteners - real tricky to remove these fasteners without breaking the pins!
going back to the "pry the chrome H out with a screw driver" method, the 2 pins with the fasteners will just fall inside the grille leaving the 2 holes where the pins of your new red H will come in. you probably won't need to place fastener for those pins as the red H emblem actually has a full adhesive backing so it's quite secure just by sticking it to the grille.
yeah that's right. but i've seen this ABS replica mugen kit a number of times in ebay ending with the $399 price. i'm getting tempted to buy it... anybody here who bought their kits from this ebay seller?
yeah im quite tempted to buy it too, its about 1/2 - 1/3 the price of other sellers around. But as i said before, quality is the main issue i guess. Although people say ABS and PP material are similar, guess its just a matter of the supplier.
thanks for the info jpestrada115.. waiting my emblem to come and will DIY on my car.. hehe.. so the rear emblem also comes with two pins as well?
anyway.. be careful about the seller selling in real ABS or fibre/FRP.. because the price is too cheap to believe.. even in Malaysia.. the price wont be that low.. anyway.. good luck.. =)
i asked this ebay seller a question about holes required. here's his response:
"NO YOU DO NOT REQUIRE HOLES AND DRILL ON THE BUMPER AND BODY TO FIT THIS KIT. THEY COME WITH RUBBER STRIPS TO TAPE THEM ON. WE ALSO RECOMEND YOU PUT SOME SPECIALISED GLUE. WE CAN PROVIDE A TUBE OF THE GLUE FOR 25.00. YES WE CAN POST TO CAIRNS AT 100.00 EXTRA FOR POSTAGE. THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIDDING
- stylish.body.kits"
i requested photos showing the fitment of the kits from the seller.
his ad also says that local pick-up can be arranged. anyone there from NSW who would go the distance (Monterey NSW) to trial fit the kits for fitment? :D if only i was in NSW i would!
