About time a decision like this was made...
oz honda could try a system where every account gets only 1 or 2 invites to get another person aboard. 2 more invites can be given again once the account becomes 'member' status, or after every 6 months or so..
however, people that want to join independently may not have the opportunity to. so.. i dunno lol.
just a suggestion.
enable the system already
IMO, newcomer's shouldn't be allowed to post in the lounge.
Depending on how things are going (I will confirm with the other mods) I might re-enable new registrations in a few weeks. It really was done only so that we could focus more on bringing things into a bit of order. So far so good and if things are all OK according to the other mods then I will re-enable new registrations in a few weeks.
Its a good idea, nice one Wyn. I've seen some seriously insensitive comments over the years relating particularly to builds which haven't been completed due to mostly personal/unfortunate circumstances. Wankers coming in here with no understanding to the bond you build with a car when your restoring/fixing it should be shot.
That's my beef with some of the newbies joining up on these forums.
Warnings then IP address bans imo. Will stop the majority of knobs who are most likely not aware of circumvention.
I think post limits are sufficient way of minimising the damage noobs can do. It would be really frustrating being a new Honda owner, wanting to come on the leading Honda forums in Oz and trying to get info/ask a question, but not being allowed to register due to other idiots mucking around. This happened last time there was a registration disable period and the result is that noobs ask registered users to post on their behalf or share accounts.
Guys one of the main problem is actually existing members who are being immature. Hence to allow us to focus on what we have already (and not just the influx of new members) we disabled new registrations.
i think its a good idea.
im all for it.
something needed to be done.
We need to open it soon, Im having to tell alot of ppl on other forums about meets we have as they cant see it here :(
