Thanks! I'm going to try keep the HIDs cos I think they're really good for night vision. I'm just going to angle them even further down more than they are now, and see if that helps! Hopefully stay defect and fine free!

HIDs need an auto leveling and washer system to be ADR approved. They'll usually be projector based with a hard cut off to stop blinding other drivers. I hate cars with aftermarket systems because they're blinding!
^ditto, i dont get the point of pointing lights down to the ground just to have hids resulting in you not seeing the road properly, but yet still blinding the oncoming traffic (imagine high beams on all the time or staring into a welding torch). Unless you have done a proper retrofit with leveling system and projectors, please for your safety and the person infront of you, please get rid of them. Nothing worse i hate more than seeing a car with hids just wacked in 'cos they look good. IMO they only look good with the proper sharp cutoff, and proper focus, none of this glare shit wached into stock headlights or projector for non hid setup.

out of curiosity what does the washer system do on hids?
purely jsut for that reason? why must they be on cars with hid kits?

The whole purpose of xenon lights in factory vehicles is to aid in safety by providing more illumination further up the road to detect possible hazards, so people have more time to react accordingly to the situation.
Now pointing them down to reduce glare from HID kits defeats the whole purpose intended when this technology was introduced.
The problem with that is, since i'm in NSW and this is what RTA states in their road users handbook but most likely the same for every other states, a safe driving technique is to scan further up to road for possible hazards and have enough time to react.
More crucial at night due to the fact you need to rely on your headlights to see, eg a road with no street lighting.
With the headlights now pointed downwards the only light you get is pretty much infront of the vehicle itself in comparison with OEM, since you can't see further ahead and in most cases people tend to only focus on the brightly lit part of the road, you might not have enough time to react to a possible dangerous situation because you were concentrating too much on what's infront of the car instead of further up ahead.
