combined fuel economy for an Accord Euro is 9.1l/100km. So if your doing alot of stop start driving that figure sounds about right. Are you carrying much excess weight? Big chrome wheels, subs, amps?? Also, what fuel are you using? If your using an ethanol blend you probably wont get as good economy either
i got 2 18inch wheel but they are roughly the same wieght if not lighter than my stock 16's on the front and yes i have 2 12"kickers + amp in the boot but the subs + amp wiegh abot 20kg tops doesnt reely wiegh the car down at all. other than that i have ct headers, a tuned vafc2 and thats it.
tires are pumped to correct pressure, new airfilter, new oil, new oil filter, tuned the vafc last year november. I cant understand why my cars so bad on fuel.
I do do a fair amount of resedential driving, short trips to my friends houses and stuff but i do a bit of hyway driving too to get to work....
running ur car til empty?....and at the same time suck up all the particles and crap at the bottom of your fuel tank.... (Y) lol
^^ hence its not good i heard....
I filled up my EM1 today (45L tank capacity).
I filled up just as the light came on, it took 37.22L. That means the light came on with around 8L in the tank. For a bB16a anyway, seems on the money.
Worked out 9.34L per 100km. Pretty good since the car sees 8,400 RPM a bit.
Anyway, NEVER let it run empty, you'll dig up all the crap at the bottom. The older the car, the worse this can be. It'll clog your fuel filter and can pollute your fuel injectors.
I had a sound system (sub, amp), 20" rims and a tune and I got 550-600 and that wasn't driving granny spec all the time. I'd go get that checked out. Mine was manual but it shouldn't affect the K's/tank that much.
The fuel system takes its fuel from the bottom of the tank anyways people. Id be more worried about the possibility of water from the top of the fuel getting to the bottom. And thats not likely.
Anyways, your fuel economy is horrible.
Can people stop being retarted when talking about fuel economy please. Its not that ****ing hard to reset your trip meter, drive, fill up and note how many litres and just work out how many litres you get per hundred k's.
(litres)/(how many hundreds of kays)
So 50 Litres in 500 kms is 50/5 = 10L/100kms
50 litres and 5 hundred kms.
I have an average of 8.5L/100kms in my manual BB6. And thats with only suburban and peak hour traffic in Adelaide.
It is possibly because of the VAFC2. If you tuned it to get more power, then it is most probably been set to increase the injector cycle. The problem with VAFC2 is that it is a coarse fuel adjustment tool. You get only a 12 point fuel curve adjustment per low/high cam and only 2 throttle setting banks (partial throttle and full throttle). There is no fine high resolution map which changes the fuel adjustment setting for every 500rpm and for every 5-10% of throttle opening.
To be honest im super noo bwhen i t comes to the vafc but the tuner said it was almost impossible to reajust the fueling on the car because the computer would reajust to factory fuel settings by itself or something... either way he said the fueling was spot on already.
Ive been reading up and im thinking maybe i shuld be looking at a new 02 sensor?
ive realised that the car tends to smell quite bad after i drive it especialy if i drive it hard... smells like rotten something as well as and i dont know if this is relevent but my car is able to read the outside temprature and today id say it was about 12 degrees celcius outside tops, but the meter said it was 22 degrees...
and ideas?
It could be the O2 sensor, my friends ep3 was getting 350km per tank which is pretty bad compared to when he first had it. Not long after his engine light lit up and had it check and it was O2 sensor and his fuel economy has gone back to what it was originally.
