Yep the 2610 will automatically organise waypoints according to the most optimal drive. For more info on differences, check http://gpsinformation.us/c320/c320review.html, http://gpsinformation.us/c320/comparison.jsp.htm . I like the current heading speed etc display mode of the 2610, plus info on satellite tracking, and lots of other fiddely bits - that's why I'm getting that - in addition to the option to use the remote. As a passenger that is much less disturbing for the driver.
The fact that you can get a motorcycle mount for the 2610 is also of importance to me.

I've got the Roadangel v1 for that. Really good. But will make for a mess of cables when I get the 2610.
Another thing to consider is the quality of the mapping. Have some fun with Garmin's stuff if you feel like it on http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ma...citynavAUS.jsp, then click the mapsource viewer link top right. On popup, ensure that you have selected max detail and max size. Then start drilling down. You may also find that this link (if it works) gives you a better starting point - showing Melbourne CBD with full detail. That's a bunch of cafes etc right there! :)
