Engine Start ! (Remote Start)

they're actually pretty handy if u need to drive early in the monrings when its FREEZING... Just turn heating and demister on b4 i leave the car, next day wake up and start it up while i'm shaving breaky, then get in a nice n warm to to drive to work.

We've had a remote start ever since we got our car (which was like 7yrs ago) and not a single problem with the alarm, nothing abt engine not starting or anything like that. If its wired properly then the alarm should also be hooked up to the handbrake. As in the remote start wont work if the handbrake is down (shouldnt hav it down in the first place, but apparently u can also get fined for having the handbrake down and not being in the car. So all the more reason to hav the bandbrake up when your not in the car). Also if the car is remote started and you dont put the key in the ingition but try to drive it (ie put the bandbrake down) engine shuts off.

But as someone mentioned earlier, its not a necessity but its convenient if u got it.

so u remote start it, go out to the car, hop in, it turns off, u start it again.... hmm?! rumour has it that starting a car uses more petrol... or can u put the key in while e-brake is up and move it to on?!?!?! plz explain

no all you do is remote start the car let it warm up get in the car put the key in turn it all the way to acc2 or where your key sits when your driving and away you go.

can u get ones where u sms a code to the alarm and it starts??
Like when ur coming home and are on the train and its all cold and u start it 5 minutes b4 u get there so that ur right to go, cause ur alarm buzzer wont work from 5-6 stations away??

on mine i can start it frm newher within 1km

but then again i could set it on my remote 2 a certain time 4 wen id like it to start.. and when it hits that time, it just start up..

no you don't start it again.....when u engine start and get into the car...u hav 2 put key in....if u 4get....and put the handbrake down..the car will turn off...

i dunno about other car alarms...but i got the pageguard 6000....it works fine...had no problems so far...

wen mine starts, i jus stick key in as soon as i get in, pull handbrake down and off i go.. pretty simple.. if i havnt stuck the key in for like over a couple minutes then the engine will switch off..

anyway they arent illegal!!! we sell them at my work, they are legal in automatic cars without any modifications to switches, however if its to be installed into a manual car a switch is fitted with it so if the handbrake is up it will start and if it is down it wont start. straight from the horses mouth!

or can it be installed by itself???

i dind't read every post so forgive me if im repeating information

but the viper alarms (some of them) come with a trip wire that means if the car is in gear it will not start the engine. I think garret is spot on with this one, but dif states dif laws etc.
