OK, time for the next step: Engine Rebuild

Darton have a supplier for Australia and im sure they would have a contact in each state so might be worth throwing them an email or doing a search.

Adrian has done a few sleeved blocks now and the work is gun so if in Sydney id be giving him a buzz seeing he's already strapped together many turbo B series and F sereis engines.

Freight on a block to Sydney wouldnt be that much either and well worth the peice of mind for your sleeving.

My 2c boys, can only speak of blocks ive seen completed, im sure there are other guys around though.

I spoke with Phillip at Austrack yesterday. Sleeves are generally about $1100 to supply. Then you need to get them fitted. He strongly suggests you go to one of his experienced machinists and has several recommendations. B18 sleeves are on the shelf. F2xC sleeves are special order and $250 air freight (the beauty of owning an S).

so sleeving gives you a brand new block?

It give you much more than that. It gives you a bulletproof closed deck block capable of supporting 700hp or so.

The one he recommended to me was John Donahue in Annandale. But that was based on location.

how are you going to get that 700hp to ground on a FWD though???

Just because the block is capable of 700hp doesn't mean you have to run that high.

If you aims are 250-350hp and your cylinders are OK then sleeving is overkill. If a light honing will bring your cylinders back then that is the way to go.

I don't plan to go much past 400hp I know better than to limit myself. So the intention was to pick up a block with scored cylinders that needed sleeving. The dilema is that the block I picked up (for $200) has near perfect cylinders. Do I hone and run 400hp and then face another rebuild when my lust for power increases or do I spend an extra $2K on the engine now and drive around a totally bullet proof block at 400hp?

yourfather - if u dont wana spend too much money as u said, and ur engine isnt in too bad condition, id suggest just to get the rebuild done wit wat u suggested at the start, dont worry bout sleeving, and then choose the correct pistons whether u wana run high or low boost. dont aim for too much power cos that will cost u too much in the long run if u dont wana be pouring money into it. hav u chosen a turbo yet??
