st115 is good when its new ..
Hi guy's,
I have a 96 Civic VTI-R hatch, when new it was fitted with Dunlop SP Sport 195/55/15 84V and they were good. My delema when time to replace them was, what with? and at what price? I wanted a reasonable price tyre without sacraficing perfomance.
I settled on Falken GRB's and could not have picked a better tyre. The price of them at the time, March 99 was $177.00ea compared to the Dunlops for $265.00ea.
March 2003 I was ready for another set, (I got 33K Kms out of the GRB's, the same as the Dunlops) but GRB's are no longer made so what to get, I was back to square one. I was recomended either Bridgestone Potenza G3's or Azenis ST115's, both at $175.00ea, Hmm. I chose the Potenza's because they had them in stock and put them straight on, I drove about 2Kms and realy didn't like them, I pushed it as hard in to a round about as I would with the old worn out Falken's and declared that it would be the first and last time, It was not good. I'm not saying that the Potenza's are a bad tyre, they just wern't the choice for my car and my style of driving. After talking to the tyre center they agreed to order me the ST115's and over the past 12 months they have been as good as my previous Falken's.
I have just returned from a 3000Km trip to Melbourne and a Honda Car Club national meet and Motorkhana weekend ( I gave it heaps and came second in my class in front of a Integra Type R ) and Im very happy with the perfomance and handling of the Falken's yet again.
There is also the AZENIS real sports, that are described in the FALKEN brochure as, best perfomance on circuit drive, outstanding dry grip with asymmetrical pattern and competition-graded tread compound.
Love to have a go at those some day.
Good luck.
Steve
