Yeh m8, i can appreciate the theory of wheel hop. i'm somewhat drunk at the moment but, i was actually hoping that someone of your ozhonda proclaimed caliber of knowledge could go a bit further into specific detail rather than a generalized theory as to why my axle broke during the actuation of wheel hop or bouncing as you call it, if you're going to comment?Quote:

Are you sure it was your driveshaft or was it the CV? It is more common for the CV to destroy itself. This is particularly the case when the driveshafts are angled into the CV at the hub. The angle places more stress in one spot which leads to failure.
Driveshaft failures generally happen at the splines. The splines twist under power and eventually snap. But this is usually only a factor in high powered vehicles. Other driveshaft failures may be due to fatigue from a stress fracture occurring from an accident or somesuch "shock" occurring to the shaft.
:o nah grumpy, i'm not sure what part of the axle assembly broke. i did a number on my back that night and havent been near the car since cause i'm limited in movement. i will make known the specifically damaged section as soon as i can get under the car.
