So even though it says in the manual and on the fuel door to only use premium, you're telling him to use normal unleaded? I don't get it. The B16A2 is a high comp motor, designed to run on 95 and above. Why would you bother putting in anything less? :confused:Quote:

Honda may be stupid with marketing but not with engine design. Why do you think the ausy B16a are detuned from the JDM's... They've taken into account for the idiots out there who just dont care.
Well getting back to u guys on this... managed to CLEAN the tank out... basically drove it until it was like no fuel left...and then left it running idle at the petrol station for ten minutes (i bought a magazine) while occasionally revving...
then put in BP ULTIMATE... u wouldnt believe the difference... its altogether a different car...
my advice is that if u want to enjoy ur car, put in the fuel she needs... but if ur strapped for cash, then yes 91 OCTane is fine... i asked my mecahnic and he said exactly wot u guys did... my ECU has a knock sensor...so it basically slows the whoeleeeeeeeee car down when u put in 91 oct... the only "bad" bit is the dirt, which can easily be cleaned with a tank full of optimax..
Why are the aussie spec B16A motors de-tuned from JDM's? Because they have 100RON fuel, our premium is only 95-96RON. :rolleyes:Quote:

If it was such an issue Honda Australia would have left the tuning at 98. But no, they compensated by lowering red line and tuning for 95. Remember they could have left it at 98. But they know that would comprimise the engine too much as not only enthousiasts would be buying the car, and it is enevitable to get someone who puts 91 octane in. Make sense?
But the thing is, there was no 98 octane when the B16A motor was first released in Australia. 96 was the best grade you could get back then, so Honda had to detune it to run on our crappy premium.
