Almost all cars burn some of the exhaust. It's call EGR, exhaust gas re-circulation. It helps for emission.Quote:

H.o.n.d.a D.e.a.l.e.r
ahhh kz nah thats not my engine in my vti sedan.
i got the d16y5... spec'd @ 88kw ish...
lolz works well with the cvt.. fruggal assssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss on petrol
looks like we have different people talking about different things, there are a few different faults which can occur so in all honesty it'd be best to take it to a dealer. they have the experience, training and the correct equipment to properly diagnose it for you
however for those that saw the thread title and want to know how to recalibrate the cvt, it's pretty simple as ben said
1. Drive the vehicle to warm up the engine and transmission to operating temperature (radiator fans operate twice).
2. Stop the engine. Shut off all accessories, and then restart the engine.
3. Switch on the headlights.
4. Select 'D' (drive) position.
5. Drive the vehicle to above 60kph.
6. Decelerate for more than five (5) seconds, without using the brakes. Perform steps 5 and 6 3-4 times.
7. Test drive from stationary several times to check the start clutch operates normally without undue vibration.
as mentioned another common fault could be the egr valve, this is more common in the 03 jazz. if the egr valve is faulty, during light acceleration the vehicle may hesitate or surge.
for the DIYer's this is how to replace it
1. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.
2. Disconnect the wiring coupler to the EGR valve.
3. Remove the two EGR valve 8mm mounting bolts and remove the EGR valve.
4. Remove the old gasket from the manifold. Clean the EGR valve seating on the manifold to ensure there will be no leaks with the new gasket.
5. Fit the new EGR valve and new gasket.
6. Tighten the two EGR valve 8mm mounting bolts to 22 N.m (16lb-ft) and connect the wiring.
7. Clear DTC’s from the PCM memory.
8. The repair is now complete.
otherwise it could require a cvtf flush, or even be something like the cvt start clutch or the trans control valve body or something along those lines.
(which is why i'd recommend taking it to a dealer in the first place)
and finally yes the ek vti sedan did come with the cvt, while i havent looked it up i'm guessing it's a very similar setup to the hrv of similar vintage
the mechanic said hes gonna test with a 2nd hand "idle speed motor" to see if this fixes the problem.. i called up rick damelian ( closest dealer to me) to get a quote on it and they couldnt find that name part and said it should be the " rotary air contol valve"
i will find out from the mechanic if the problem is fixed with a different part then i`ll get it done by him otherwise i`ll take it to rick damelian and save my money instead...
i`ll update again tomorrow, hopefully with some good news..
ok so its confirmed
need to replace the idle speed motor and the EGR valve
anyone know the price for the EGR valved replaced?
Dealer is your friend mate.
yeh..same thing the mechanic said... they couldnt fix the problem even though they tried with a different EGR valve... and suggested me to take it to a dealer
so i just gotta see wat they say at the dealer coz apparently the mechanics use a different device to fault find the 'check engine light' anyways... wish me luck coz i got a feeling the dealer is gonna charge me a arm and leg.
just abit of an update with my situation
i took my car to a honda dealer and they diagnosed that its a faulty EGR valve and needs to be replaced... so i gave him the go ahead to fix it..
they also said theres some electrical problems aswel...
so im shopping around for some auto electricians, dunno if theres any mobile ones that can come around my place...
anyways i`ll find out wat needs to be done by wed when i pick the car up
how much would that EGR valve cost to replace @ the dealers aye?
