Thanks, thats a relief - it looked like it would fit anyway. Now to find HIDs for em, are H11's ok?
Thanks to everyone on this thread for helpin a noob out :)
When you receive the foglights, they should come with globes in them already. Check them first, just to make sure you're going to buy the right ones. I think they are H4's or H4a's, but I'm not a 100% sure as it's been a while since I last had a look at them. I hope that helps.
mines are H11, so it should be the same
hmmm... i swear mine were hb4's.. ill go double check!
edit: couldn't check, at work, have to sneak my hand in under the bumper :( sorry!
you reckon 15s would be to small for our civics?
i run 15's on the track, it just really depends on the tire wall i run 205/50/15 and its only like 1 inch(maybe less) lower than my 17
ah ok, coz im looking around for some nice 15s and maybe sell my g-max ? lol
do you have any pictures of your car with 15s on?
friend is currently looking for rims about 16", is it hard to find 16" rims in the 7th gen stud pattern. I think its' 4x100 if i guessed correctly? also what's a recommended width and offset etc.
theres plenty of 16's rims with 4x100
ill try get a photo with then on, its just that my mate has them on his car atm
hi danny! :P
lol, Hi Tony
i think me turbo exhaust is done ill go check it out 2morrow and take sum pics for u ppl
nicenice! if you start a new build thread, let us know brother!
i have no idea what offset my rims are but they are 4x100 18" and they fit perfectly! go bigger! :P
gooo smaller :D
I'm running 18" 4x100 +40 offset and they fit perfectly :D
oh i havnt made a comment about the 7th gen yet,
it would be the most BORING civic ever made, nothing good about it at all apart from the badge.
if you are 70+ years old this car is for you!
maybe performance wise, but i think its a nice looking car :P if only they bought the coupe out here in aus, maybe it'd be a bit more popular!
it was never made to be a fast car, it was made for a low budget family car that can fit kids in the back and luggage in the trunk.
i enjoy driving my car :D
tony btw i will be selling my Xforce header so if u or chan want it ill sell for $100
BTW to all the 7th gen ppl who wish to turbo their cars, heres a teaser of the manifold. its just a mock fit
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...D17ramhorn.jpg
fu*K thats a big turbo man! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
did you like the xforce headers and how much power did you gain out of it?
btw im still waiting for the sway bar of you too :p
oh oh ohoh wait do you have a spare front strut bar?
cheers bro!
yeah that is a big turbo its a gt30 that will come with the peakboost kit.
sway bar will be given when i get my custom 28mm or 32mm cant decide.
strut bar ill have a look i think i have my old 1 sum where.
xforce felt like it gave me 3 to 5 kw lol.
i got it to get the whole car free flowing since i already and a CAI and exhaust system, it gets very happy after 4k rpm
yeah i dont think i'll be getting the headers then coz i dont have exhaust system and CAI :(
if you do find your strut bar will you sell it heheh :p
if i find my old strut ofcourse ill sell it, ive already got a new 1.
ive only use my old for like 6 months b4 i swapped it out
hey, just wondering will cusco front strut for dc5, its for the pre face models will it fit to our cars? or do i have to get the non pre face ones?
yeah it should fit,the chassis is the same, only the body work is different.
do the headers increase fuel consumption? coz i'm struggling to get 400km as it is for some reason now. i don't know why, it's been like this the last 2-3 top ups i'm running average 9.5L/100km. i haven't driven any differently and air con hasn't been used excessively, so i'm still trying to figure out the problem. you guys ever have this happen to you? i tried that stuff you put in the fuel to clean out the engine so i'm still waiting to see how that goes. i'd like the front strut :) and maybe even the headers too! hahaha.. how much do they cost to install roughly?
headers to install should only be like 100 max, tho i got mine done for 80, i would not go any higher then 100 other wise it will be a rip.
the header might be sold tony sorry, but if chan is looking at getting a cusco one, and if i can remember where i put it u can take it off me
with the fuel apparently the header give u better fuel eco but i have yet to see any proof of that
Just a quick question, how much would a 14"- >16" rim change affect performance?
not much, rolling resistance will be like 2%
let me know if chan doesn't want the headers, ill most likely grab them off ya and give them a shot :P and the strut brace as well :)
Have only just looked at the comments
I have 2001 Vi auto got it as demo in 2002
Have averaged 7.32l/100km and regularly get 600km per tank. My guess is it has a 45l tank as I've gone over 43l at a fillup. Best was 707km but that included country driving. Most of my driving is city rush hour tho Adelaide is not as clogged as Sydney or Melbourne and you can average 50kmh on a drive to work. I'm not a snail pace driver either so don't know what you others are doing that uses so much fuel.
Good points
Plenty of legroom front and back. I'm 6'3" and will fit in back with driver's seat right back. No other car in it's class for room inside.
Good power leaves Corollas Lancers Nissans of similar cc for dead. VTEC is definite advantage but you've got to keep the revs up. Would prefer manual but wife can't drive them.
Fuel consumption obviously. Used to have 88 DX sedan and had a CRX 1600 TC auto dropped into that, was quite quick then but used more fuel than the Vi and wasn't as quick.
Against
Seats are too small and uncomfortable. Would like Recaros but $2000 per seat is rediculous. Had some in a 78 Accord I had, awesome, wish I'd kept them. Have been told no other Honda seats fit an EU Vi w/o lot of work. Anyone got some Type R EP3? seats they don't want?
Gearbox won't kick down quick enough when negotiating small roundabouts and there is a definite hesitation when you put on the gas which Honda says they can't fault but I think it's dangerous if you need power in a hurry after slowing down or braking.
Overall good set of wheels but I would like to change the wheels and tyres and get some better seats.
Cheapest Recaro is $2100 so they tell me
they were $650 in 1980 ea
Great seat my drivers seat had speakers in the headrest
had money then was single marriage curbs the $$ to spend on cars unless your dad is rich
I saw some 2008 Civic Type R seats on Ebay and the guy reckoned they were $8000 per set from Honda reckon that was bull tho
damn, those must be some expensive seats. i picked up my recaro tomcats for $200 a pair with rails :P but thats off family.. hehe.. lucky me i guess! i don't know why my fuel economy is so shit! i think i need a tuning up? any suggestions as to why my car is running so poorly?
could be just due for a service
well, it has been 5 years :P maybe you're right! and i think you found yourself a fan that day of the meet :P if you read the reflections thread! :D
I agree with spudspanner, after doing wheels and suspension in my EU I find the seats are crap.
Overall though I'm happy with mine :D
is there a cheaper option to coilovers other than springs? which will give me a nice low and firm ride?
I did a bit of research and went the coil overs but there may be cheaper alternatves out there. My coil overs owe me $1195 plus install which is bugger all I reckon
hey! thats an awesome price, danny told me he paid $1800 for the coils alone which is a bit more than i want to spend on my car. where did you get them from? if you don't mind PM'ing me with the details, that would be great. Perhaps its cheaper for the hatch, compared to the sedan? but that is an awesome price to pay for coils! I hoping to get some by the time I get my tax return mid year! :P
also, i have another question here. my car is auto, and usually when i'm doing 100km/hr on the freeway the revs should be around 2.5k when its warmed up and good to go. but recently, it seems to go back down a gear and i'm running around 3k revs when i'm doing 100km/hr. does anyone know why this is the case? do i need to change my transmission fluid? or is this the first signs of a failing transmission? :(
I'll pm the details tonight for you.
With the auto when was the last service done on it?
rice_civic you got pmd
i don't remember the last time my transmission was last looked at. does the transmission fluid need to be changed often? i just hope it doesn't fail me when i'm going to and from work or something like that.
dvs-still waiting for the PM in regards to coil prices. thanks bro! :P
pm replied chan
tony on the free way sitting at 100 i rev at about 2.8/3k rpm
btw tony i can get a decent coilover for 1500 installed but then again i could sell u mine as i might be getting custom KONI Coilovers, but ill have to see how finances go after i get my turbo.
ooOO.. that sounds awesome, how much?
if i get my KONIs ill help out a fellow 7th gena for a price of 500
Damn
ok, i'll shotgun them off you dannY :P how many k's have you clocked up on them? or does that not matter? i'm not to educated when it comes to suspension n stuff like that! i see you also saw the reflections thread, haha.. funny stuff, i never knew you were in a band? :P
well the coils have been on the car for 4 years and and have been to a few trackdays, but they still going strong and i havent had any problems with them. saying that my car only has 28000 km on it.
lol the reflection thread i was like wtf theres pic of me floating around. yeah been in a band since 04'.
i want to paint my foglights yellow..
what you guys think?
Friends 7th gen civic stock as a rock, manual does about 3k-3.5k revs at 100km/h as well, which kinda surprises me cos my sisters getz auto with a tiny engine does about 2k-2.5k rpm on the freeway. Also if your air conditioner is on your revs might be slightly higher as well.
is it possible for someone to photoshop these:
http://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/spider_3.jpg
on a black civic =S my photoshops skills aren't exactly up to scratch
they look like the civic sports rims! you planning on getting them for your es1?
also, my fuel economy has improved again since i went back to using bp ultimate, v power etc. i think it was the crappy fuel i was putting in for a while that made my efficiency really crap. i even put in e10, that stuff is really bad! my last top up with v-power gave me 7.99L/100km! woooot!
nah im looking for a friend who has an es1 haha, i ask all the questions for him =P how would black on black look though.
Can anyone photoshop it on by any chance?
i did my best :p

18" wheels and stock suspention is a bad idea!
ive got my stock sussy for $500, but i wont seperate the strut from the springs they have only done 15,000 km. pm if interested
acutally i lied they have done 10,000km
SEATS for a 7th Gen Civic EU 4 door
Does Anyone know if any other Honda seats will fit this model w/o modification?
If not what seat will fit with minimum mods? and can anyone show some photos of what they've done?
I know the EP3 Civic Type R JDM seats (EXPENSIVE as are Recaros)fit straight in but what about Integra, Prelude seats any of them fit an EU?
u can make any seat fit as long as u have the right brackets,
Granted, that's a given.
What I would like to know is if any better quality seats from Honda will fit with the least hassle.
dc5 seats i guess?
Thanks Jokkahk!
I have seen photos of these on Ebay and such and wondered if they would fit as the runners look very similar with the same shape
I will hit the wreckers tomorrow and try out those first
Will let youse know what I find.
can someone tell me the difference between shock absorbers and coilovers? i had a quote from koni in regards to shock absorbers for my es1, and they said $950 for both front and rear but i was told shock absorbers didn't come with springs? is this correct? also, in regards to being able to adjust height and ride stiffness, which is better? i was thinking of getting coilovers, can anyone suggest any other brands with reasonable pricing where i can find the melbourne distributors?
i have H&R Sports springs for cheap , then just get some shocks
Shocks and springs come seprate, and are usally sold in front and rear "pairs"
