lol...I got close to 700kms many times after I started using magnatec oil when servicing...don't know why but it just loved the stuff....and yes, I used to drive it hard too!
I just got 390km out of my Civic (start/stop traffic)...can get 550km driving to and from the gong.
my car hasnt been tuned for awhile (got tuned yesterday, after my 390k tank). I'm hoping to see an improvment now :)
i was using magnatec and getting easily 500+ Km's (with fun!) from a full tank, when highway driving almost 650-700Km's now im using penrite and the economy is still the same... but i always go down to at least like 2L in the tank before i fill up, is that bad for the car??
Adam
man i car is shit too, i can onli get around 410 on a full tank, i think dats shit for a civic vti-r.
just wondering is there any way to improve on that
civic b16, 430km with normal driving . thats 40L.
im surprised some of you guys are claiming 500-600km! sounds like a hybrid
abt 450km to drain the tank dwn = normal driving

would u get more kms out of it when u put SHELL 98octane fuel..?
cuongn it does depend on what your currently using comparitively..I usually find that optimax yes, I get a bit more kms out of the car compared to bp ultimate.
interestingly enough shell does not have a 98 octane rating, and im noticing some mobil's dont have in writing 98 octane either. just higher octane
Hi there,
Very noob here, just wondering how much I'd get from a 95 Civic Vti sedan??
Cheers all.
Bit of a Revival here..
I just got 540 out of about 37L - mainly city driving with a couple highway runs. Back in the zone now :)
got it down to under 6 once on the highway - almost 700kms.
damn i thought civics would get more than 400 out of a tank! i get almost 600 out of the lude
i get bout 510-520kz from a full tank in my EG (b18c) using 98ron petty
tank would be bigger tho wouldn't it? in the lude i'd assume its more like a 50/60L?Quote:

i only get 600 if i'm using 98ron n not vtecin all the time lol
Civics/CRXs are only 40L tanks.
yeh.. 11 Month old 2005 Civic, 40L tank.. Fueled up 98% of it's life on Shell Unleaded, pulled over 500's in the first few months, then got all the extra's eg. cat-back zaust, muffler, rims, & a heavier foot.. do about 460 with a conservative foot. Last week, remember getting to 270kms, and was just above half.. didn't pay attention after that, it was the weekend. It just dropped on me.... hehe
Not gonna complain, did a poor amount of k's with my old rolla.. heavy 17' rims, pointlessly big exhaust, carby, and a 'look at me, i'm a p plater' foot..
my car eats bp ultimate like skittles with like 340ks a tank but e-gen owns it by getting 490ks a tank lol
i get close 2 400km on my eg... something wrong with it...
98 ultimate at bp....get alomost 400ks out of it....ek4 wwiv usual air itnake and exhaust mods...
I get up to 640km's running city/highway on my 50L 05 Vi Hatch. Less when I feel like engaging in vtec thrillride.
I notice you get more mileage running on better quality fuel. So try to go to a servo who gets their fuel replenished regularly and I noticed also running on 98 Optimax/Vpower gives you good econ, personally i think it adds up to getting regular but with more power!
Also got a 2" catback and drop in k&n panel filter and after putting them in i realise my fuel efficiency has increased purely because the fact the car requires less effort to drive with less backpressure. It also makes it easier to decrease fuel efficiency bcuz with a loud exhaust and more accel responsiveness who wouldnt want to push their car? :P So its like a double edge sword.

I learnt my lesson and now as soon as the fuel light pops up I'd try to look for the nearest servo. And usually when ur lights up u got like 7/8 L's left.
how the hell are ppl gettin so many kmz???
omg...
LOLL **** my car is effiecent then haha i get over 500kz from a full tank (eg with b18c)
i get about 450+ for daily driving.. auto ek1 :p
it pays to service the car with not only an oil filter and new oil but every say 20000kms put some new plugs in and perhaps clean the throttle body (youd be surprised how much crap is in there) and replace the O2 sensor every 60-80000kms. Plugs and O2 sensor make a hell of a difference in fuel consumption.
no point saying how much u get in a tank, ppl have diff tanks and fill up differently. better off writing L/100km.
i can only get almost 400km a tank but i can only fill up 35litres max
yeah its about 6.9L/100km if i drove econ.. 7.3L/100 if i vtec real often :P
are o2 sensors expensive...???
well soemthin is wrong here buddy. you drive an ek4. 45L tank capactiy. drive until the fuel light comes on and tehn drive anoher 70kms ontop of that. then go fill up  :cool:Quote:

haha yea i thought so too but see the thing is, im scared to drive it down too low and my fuel light NEVER comes on . so either my needle is lower than it should or my light is broken. everytime i just fill up when my needle drops in the red empty zone...and fill up 35litres or so. and yes light still wasn't on when i filled it up.Quote:

Note there's a big difference between city driving and highway driving. When i was zooming up and down the coast i would get 450km easy. But during the week when i'm goin to work i only get around 350km per tank.
with a b18 right? much difference in consumption with the b16?Quote:

wow how u guys get so much out of it
i put 40L on 98 octane and only get about 320 most i got was 340
read through the posts - the answers are there - its all about a fuel efficient tune and obviously not gunning it off every set of lightsQuote:

how much do weight affect fuel comsumption ?? like how much weight would have a significant fuel affect?
we talking 10s of kg or 100s of kgs
drive with the correct tyre profile, and you would have a more accurate reading of kms on your tank
got 535km for the first time ever for daily driving last week on mobil 8000... on average i'll get around 450km... most i've clicked was like 600+ on one tank when i went on road trip... i was impressed!!

- Windows up when ur travelling above 70km - too much wind resistance slows ur car down.
- Get rid of unnecessary weight. Any extra weight makes a difference to any car. Most the people here get shit fuel consumption because they have 2 subs 4 amps etc.. thats like 60-70kg worth of stuff.
For us Civic drivers, If you've been driving for long enough, you'll notice you have to push ur car a tad bit more when you have a passenger sitting with you and you'll most probably have to floor it up a hill when you're driving 4 people :). So how much does the person weigh? That much extra weight causes you to accelerate more, using more fuel.
And most obviously, smoother acceleration. no need to gun it to get to 60 and stay on 60 :p. I just love catching up to people at the lights when they gun their cars at every light (people at brisbane who drive on gympie rd would know what i mean, almost have to stop at every light)
If you follow all of the above, you will most definitely notice improvements in your fuel consumption. :)
I clock about 450 - 500km from about 40 - 45L of Vortex (95 RON) in my 01 civic.
I've never put anything else in it, so I can't really comment on how much the fuel is helping, but it keeps me happy.
thats not alot for the GLI....
Who, me? Really? How many should I be making?
800+...Quote:

all good saracen. try using 98octane fuel. your get more economy and alil more power :) at the cost of extra 5cent/litre
I get about 900Km's per tank, and Im turbo
That's insane! What is it, turbo diesel? lol.
How big is your tank?
630kms . ek1. 14" steelies
600km on a 45L tank
car: 98 EK CXI
edit: your low petrol warning light lights up when you have used up 37L of your tank..
usually people would go refill then.. but keep in mind you still have 8L in your tank.. and that is approximately another 100kms more you can go b4 u realli need to refill.. that petrol warning light should light up i recon when you have like 2 or 3L left
i also see peoples talkin about Wieight of your car contributing to using more or less petrol... so getting carbon fibre hoods can reduce some weight too.. but i dunno how much less a CF hood weights compared to a stock hood..
i fort the max capacity was 45L
hence 35-38L is normal fillup, and remaining litres up to 45L was reserve
unless u run ur car until it craps itself???
well i can fill up to 35ish. but my fuel light never comes on. maybe its $#$#^.
i get about 250k from a 35ltr tank.. about 400kms if i drive normal.
but who cares. about how many kms u get out of a tank.
just think about the smile on ur face when ur Vtecing it through traffic.
hahahahahha i love to stay over 5.5rpm
just finishd my tank 2 dai on 609kms on city kz . . . not to0 badd . .
r u sure u r using all the fuel in the tank. maybe ur gauge is alil off, does the fuel light turn on? had dat prob with my bro ek gli, the pin would point to E but the light dnt turn on
lately i have been averaging around 8L/100kms or getting over 500kms regularly, filling up around 40L each time, i used to get 400+ish but that was when my thermo was stuffed ever since i changed it, fuel efficiency has gone up :). this is with a combination of highway and city driving and good a hit here and there.
just hit my reserve tank in my 06 vti and im on 523km (i think reserve is like 50km or something?)
I just did 550km's... (it was nearly empty :p the light turned on when i was on a hill so i though i go fill up but by the time i got 2 the petrol station light was off)
Thats including:
Driving up 2 wakefield park - from sydney
Doing aprox 20 laps (was 2 hot 2 do be on the track with helmet and all-stayd and took pics)
Drove back from wakefield park - Back to sydney
Bit of city driving
The car is a Civic VTI 96' :)
With:
17" wheels
Muffler
20 laps of wakefield at WOT(im assuming) and still got 550? wow thats good
Yer, The car was redlining and stuff 2 so im pritty amazed :p
yah thats crazy. is it a 45 L tank in your civic?
Yer, it 45L tank....
But im over it! cant wait 2 get into a DC5S some time next yr :p
errr i think 60 litre i duno??
it took a week for it to be empty. . filled it to tha maxx . . and let it finish till the fuel light came on . . and a few hourz lata i filled up . . and b4 i left the servo chekd how many k'z i had done and noted it . . best kz is around 642 . . car iz very economical . . and yes ofcourse this is mostly driving like a granny only at timez i'll get the urge and push it a bit . .
in order to use less petrol you should change gears at like 2000-2500 rpms heheheheinstead of 3000-4000 ish
From my 50L tank, I use about 40-45L, and get around 350-400km per tank with 99% CBD driving (ie. start stop traffic with air cond).
EK1- d16y4
between 650 - 670 highway k's out of a full tank...
does everyone's Fuel Guage pin point way above the F when you refill your tank??
or does it just point at F ?
above F. and its normal. its a pressurized system not digital like the new models.
Just a quick addition, what about air cond?
Ima getting about 550 kms per 40 litres on My Si without air cond on (city and freeway) which is pretty neat. But air cond jumps on and ima getting 380kms per 40 litres (same driving conditions). Is this normal?
