Totally.But the main point is no-one knows the law,by design.
I mean if the police want to charge you with something, they have to have evidence. They have to provide the figures, like speeding, noise testing, emissions, things like that, they cant just say its too stiff and book you. I would contest it. At least if they make you go and get it tested, it will give you time to change them back to stock lol.

Oh yes they can. They have the power to inflict any sort of defect pain on you that they deem necessary to keep the streets clear of hoons and other modified car nuisances. They have a mandate from the incumbent Government, elected by the people of your State. Sorry but they don't have to produce any evidence other than their own judgement.Quote:

[My mates were let off the hook for being honest]

my ae86 trueno was EPA defected by an off duty cop who THOUGHT i was too loud... no testing was done.
it echoed in between city buildings and he thought it was too loud, despite the environment causeing distortions.
to be honest, it was ****ing loud and i deserved it... but i think he should have had to do a test before i had an epa defect.
oh well, aust is pretty bad like that, the reason i only live here for a couple of months per year now days (due to work)

I think in qld even carbon wrapped components (or fully carbon products) are illegal as if you were to hit a pedestrian they shatter and will cut you, getting hit by a car wont hurt you but the carbon will cause a nasty cut. Fairly positive on that one. They may differ from state to state - where abouts are you?
