yeah g-games 99b. Put my trust in an online offset calculator. If 18x8.5 @ +45 fits them so should 18x7.5 @ +35.

hi mark
- how mcuh for the set
- which tyres u choose
- how much for tyre?
noob question...looking at getting set of rims, either 17 X 7 or 18 X 8, both only available in +40 offset.
Knowing FD Civic comes in +45 offset, will the above rims hv any issues when lowered? eg: scrubbing, etc
also can offset be changed using spacers?
wow.. 1800 is quite cheap man.. lol.. grab a good tyre to match ur wheels.. hehe.. hope 35+ can really fit nicely on ur car.. dont forget share some pics after installed it.. =)

They blew me away when I first saw them! Weighs in at 9kg... can't wait to wrap it in some rubber and get it fitted to the car...
I'm hopefully gonna try and fit it on the hub tonight.. not sure if I need lugs first or if it can just sit on the hub without them?

Hope it actually fits :P
Well I gave it a try:
Offset much?

Looks weird... maybe cos it's jacked up a fair bit

Looks a lil more promising!

I'm a stupid noob and forgot to take pics of the brake clearence.... but I'm guessing thats not an issue.
What do you guys think?
omg.. nice wheels u have.. make me itchy.. hehe.. try grab some tyres.. =)
very nice indeed! i want to replace my current starcorp 18' but... i think i'll leave it for a while.
blardy crisis
lookin great mark
post up pics when you've got it all fitted :D
Thanks guys!
I really want to wrap it in tyres already, but am really busy till after christmas.. so I probably won't have time till january :(
ohh really? damn thats a shame =[. looks really hot man.. for 1.8k only too.. bargain id say. i'm starting to crave a set of 18s!
btw how much do you reckon i could sell my stock sport enkei rims for?
so what would be the best set up for 18"? 18x7.5/8 +45
yeah.. thats pretty much perfect fitment. thats what i hear anyway. i think 18x9 can fit with about 45 offset too if you needed to go that wide. but just dont go past 7.5/8 to be 100% safe.
18x8 or 18x7.5 +45 will fit fine ... itz a matter of preference but imho i think 19" would be absolutely perfect ... i have 18x8 +40 which are pretty sweet but i think theyre a tad small for the car
Well.. depends on style. I'm going for a JDM style... is you want VIP or sexpec then yeah.. 19s or 20s. 18" is sorta the max for JDM on our cars imo.
+35 offset ftw!
thanks guys. time to get a set of rims then...
nice rim, what rubber will put on your car in your mind atm?
18" CE28N

19" CE28N
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/9295/civicfd3ip4.jpg
so now which nicer? hehehe.. JDM Style.. not VIP.. :p
18 looks better
19's but y u got the 19's in bronze and the 18's in gold?
those 19s look really hot....
gold > bronze. Size looks alright.. just not big fan of bronze.. too dirty looking.
yeah.. is indo's car.. not mine.. mine just stock 17".. haha.. i prefer 19".. look nice.. =)
haha yeah looks like its in indo for sure. damn the 19s look hot i rkn..
yeah.. the price hot too.. hehe.. at least 4-5k just wheels.. =)
and also didn't count the tyre in.
just get the replica one, its exactly look like,, its about half price
its fd type R mugen look alike anyway,,
i think the owner of that black fd also visit this forum sometime,, he used to study in melbourne
if i m not wrong
what i m trying to say is that light weight rim really isn't necessary
and i don't understand why, especially some indo's is very typical, they buy genuine light wheels on wrong car, and wrong purpose (just to make it look fast), but thats my opinion
true, indos with money.. but what can you do. if they got the money, why not spend it?
i mean the weight of the replica is double compare to the original ce28n.. lol..
and whats the point take the fd compare with ur commodore v6? lol..
same meaning with this.. "that commodore v6 looks fast, do you think that car beat Ferrari?" no point to compare..
and indo have alot of money that we don't have.. they can even use ASANTI wheels with rubies or diamond on their car.. lol..
all i m saying if u drive that car on the street cant even keep up at all with commodore v6, thats w**ker
also just imagine, if fd2R drive past this car and park next to it
so its not about money or not,, its soooo ricer,,
wayne,, whats the point talking about how much weight rims you need for fd like this
double weight rims or not, replica or not, who cares? that black fD car looks replica as well
tried to replica fast car,,,
hmmm they shouldnt call it "CE28N replica" on the first place... should just give them the taiwannesse brand instead... Like Lenso or other cheap rims sold here in oz was replicating big brands, but they never call it "XXX replica" or sumthing...
i see.. u have the point.. would you mine share what wheels u using? =)
so u r benchmarking civic with commodore v6? lol.. thats cool man.. =)
i mean replica wheels is half cheaper than the original and the weight is double.. as i carry a 19" ce28n before at my friend's house.. it was so light.. =)
haha.. i dont think the car look rice.. as far as i know he spend all his money on original stuff.. his mugen kits is original.. maybe someone who know him can clear this statement.. =)
wayne, just open urbandictionary, check the word "ricer " mean
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.
The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.
would that mean changing ur exhaust system is considered ricer?
id say...gettin a chop on muffler with a huge cannon is rice.. but a proper exhaust system like say...maybe a catback with wateva tip..even cannon? i wudnt call that rice...
fair enough, guess it just comes down to the individual.
lol a $1000 buddy club / fujitsubo / mugen performance exhaust is not rice, but the $25 weld on tip from k-mart is the true example..
I always thought a ricer = a person that like to eat rice?
haha, or baller = a person who always go to the party?
LOL. we should probably stay on topic ey :L. and to do so... wouldnt mind a couple opinions on some rims i might get... (on a black FD2 btw)
white: http://www.bsawheels.com.au/pic/95200612046PM.jpg
or rays g-games silver: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/...cb717ace_b.jpg
thanks.
g-games look nicer.. =)
if your considering getting rays g-games..
wouldn't they be approx the same amount as ce28's...
if so.. why are you looking at rep ce28's when your considering g-games?
mind boggles..
nah cos, the g-games im getting will be 2nd hand.. so around 2.2k? (but in near new condition with toyo t1r's at 90% tread). and ce28's are around 3k+ without tyres so yeah =/
i wish i can find the 2006 CE28N Time Attack.. =(
damn i still cant decide =[
Any opinions on dunlop dirrezas dz101 tyres? It's cheaper than I was expecting to pay but have been offered 150 per tyre including fitting and balance etc. Tyre specs are 215/40/18.
Opinions? Anyone running them? I've searched here and it seems most people reckon they are good for non-tracked cars.. but want to be sure they are safe enough in the wet.
hey mark, where you'll get it from? I'm looking for 225/40/18 and so far the cheapest and good quality i can find is Kumho KU31 for 165. can anyone help with which one better?
225 is the width setting btw right?
does anyone reckon toyo t1Rs for street use is too much?
T1-R or FK452 is cool tyre.. =)
what tyre settings do i need for 18x8 rims? and what about 18x7.5? on an fd btw.
T1R's are probably abit much for basic street use.
I'd recommend the kuhmos KU31's, cheap and fairly good, and i can tell you they are very good in the wet.. Very similar to the RE001's. Not too sure about the Dunlops...
Although thats my IMO.
The width of the tyre doesn't matter its just that if it gets bigger say 18x9 the tyres would be more stretched compared to a 18x7.
225/40/18 would be a good fit as i'm running 225/45/17, the profile is similar just a 0.1" difference. No scrubbing with lowered springs although that'll depend on ur own car.
ohh i see so its just stretching the tyres. so 225/40/18 for 18x8s?
cheers mate. kumho ku31s sound the go now i guess.
kk fallenangel, I'll take your two cents and spend them on KU31 :p
kumho noisy.
what u mean by noisy? what tyres u suggest then?
Kuhmo's noisy...?? Are u sure? I've still got them on my fd and they're quite as ever..
noisy as in squeaks against the road tarmac? or??
install some sound proof to prevent noise.. xD
i'd assume it'll be just road noise whilst driving.
of course, noisy while driving, if stop very quite...lol
mine, kumho escta or ecstasy or ??? and got V pattern, even the mech (after installing my BBK), when i asked,
all the brakes are ok ?
- Yes, only the tyres quite noisy...LOL
but most of cheap tyres (kumho, nankang, budget, etc) are noisy except (not tried yet, but my fren say so) Nitto (same manuf with Toyo)
if u want cheap tyres and not noisy, try get straight pattern, not V, might better.
hey another wheel size question :p
http://www.capitaltyres.co.nz/Images/Mags/242.jpg
is the above wheel on 19x8.5s +45 offset with falken or hankook wheels fit FD?
got told that 19x7.5s are better but will the 8.5 scratch badly? especially with full passengers at the back.
also what brand of tyres are good? hankooks are costing $275 a pop
i think the 8.5 will fit cos the offset is about right.. but if u can get 7.5s then go for those to be safe lol.
uhm read the past few pages, kumho KU31 anf falken f451 tyres have been recommended.
noob question sorry, but im clueless when it comes to fitting the tyre size to an aftermarket rim size.. soo..
what tyre settings would i need to get on my fd with 18x8 rims?
cheers
215/40
i would go 40 thickness,,, for 18
oh i see. why then do people choose like 225/40 though? whats the diference between that and a 215/40?
more tyre as in thicker going vertical or thicker going horizontal? so like wider? or taller? i guess
so say the rim is 18x8
so if u have 225 u will have tyre over hang the rim..
if u have 215 it will be even with the rim..
this is the difference betweet 215/40 and 225/40 on 18x8 at 45+ offset.. hope this help.. =)
