i was playing with the cruise control.. and it has memory!
WOW, i dunno, i think most ppl knew this..
but like for example: set cc on at 80kmh, then press cancel and say u slow down to 50kmh, then press RES and it will speed back up to 80kmh and sit there.

I thnk all cars with c/c have this.It's the resume button.It memorises previous setting even when u press cancell button,but not when u press main c/c switch.:)

And, yes, free revving is very bad, because the rate of the RPM increasing is very high. The acceleration forces are many times higher than when with a load. Overheating is not a problem in a properly working NA engine. Just be careful not to do it often. Alternatively, you can use partial throttle to get the revs up to redline in neutral. As long as the rate at which the RPM increases is not very high, it should be alright.

Yeah actually that does make a lot of sense.
Previously I would have thought the ability of the engine to free-rev under no load, is limited by its own physical capability of increasingly spinning faster. However, what that implies is, when you free-rev, it is working and accelerating at the maximum gradient it could physically do so... which must be bad.

I guess the Honda engines being fairly well balanced from factory will give less vibrations so hopefully nothing will break apart :(

lol I do that too, the foot accelerator is so yesteryear :p except in traffic :o

ok heres one, my wifes standard auto model.

wipers on intermittant, turned the knob so they are always on, but it still adheres to the int rules of slowing when you are stopped and also wiping once when you lift of the brake. pretty cool! not sure if its been posted before. i know about the brake bit and the slowing etc

Lo and behold... at last manage to finish reading this thread. Some of the stuffs are nice to know while some are basic in most cars.

Just wondering does it chime if the petrol is very low and the petrol indicator lights come on? I know some Holden models does that.

Nope, it doesn't chime. You just get the light. When the light comes on, I estimate you have between 8 to 10 L left in the tank.

Actually it does chime, well at least on the MY06 models.

You hear a single "ding" and the words "Fuel Low" appear on the trip computer.

It activates when you have about 60km left of fuel if I recall correctly.

eurodude: thats correct... that's what happens in the 06 model... and its at 60kms left... :)
