Tyre Recommendation thread

Ahhh, left out the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3:
Quite a good tyre for the money, the compound is harder than the BS S03 and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx.
Due to the harder compound, these tyres should be very durable; which is also indicated by the 280 TWR of them.
Grip is very good, and the tyres hold up very well, even on the track. With the long and thin tread pattern I would expect them to squirm a bit under hard cornering though.
If given the choice, i would take the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx or the BS S03 over the GSD3.
I've heard unconfirmed stories that the German GSD3's are better than the Australian made ones.

i've just purchased a set of dunlop re6060's, great tyre.. handles well, very quiet, under very hard braking, it does not lock up, very happy with em.

if you can't get your tyres to lock up or your abs to engage under hard braking, then your weakest link is your brakes and there may be something wrong; better check your pads and fluid and make sure everything's ok.

lol, i have no abs.
pads are brand new, fluid is new.
discs have been upgraded.
it's a good thing that it doens't lock up?

I'd check to see if your brake fluid has been bled properly.

it definately is not a good thing if you are unable to lock up your tyres or engage ABS.

fluid has been bled properly, and i know they have been bled properly.
but you see, when i said hard braking, i didn't mean absolute hell.
i meant quite hard.. lol.
it's hard to explain, but more than enough to stop me in time in sticky situations..
my old tyres used to lock up like no tomorrow, when i changed them today, they were very grippy, and held up under some heavy braking.
so in my books, they great tyres.

yeah optimal braking is acheived at the point just before the tyres break traction (skid). So locking up isn't max braking efficiency; but you should always be ABLE to lock em up if you stood on the brakes, otherwise something is not right.

LOL @ JT. Dunlop man now! Well my Sport maxx's are on order...should be coming in a couple of weeks...woohoo....will let you all know how they go, with my current brake set up should be excellent.

I just put on the RT-615's... first impression is WOW.
