Good tyres for Euro 17" Rims

i just put some 17" wheels on my euro today with 215/45/17 tyres...

and the tyres look like they're a little bit flat (even though they're inflated to the correct pressure - i've got it at 35psi cold).

anyone else have this problem or can explain why the tyre flexes so much from the weight of the car?

it's very likely the wall is very soft.

i bought a set of kumho ku23 in the past but only used them for a week as traded them in for 50% loss as i got really frustated with how the car drove on the jelly like tyres...

I'd assume u got those special Honda wheels from eBay that came with those no name tyres? Sell them and get some decent tyres in the right size as well.

Cheaper tyres will have a softer side wall. This is y they look flat. 35psi is alot for a low profile tyre

I have Conti Sport Contact 3s and i run 40psi in them as recommended to me by the tyre place i bought them from.They have soft sidewalls too.

I have Conti Sports Contact 2 with my soon to be gone Golf118TSI, it's softer than the OEM RE040 because of the sidewall only has 1 layer, but it's still very grippy yet comfy.

Low quality tyres may be comfy but you'd never want to have over-spirited drive on the RNP roads.

Did a little tyre (225/45/R17) shopping today, will probably need a new set in the next 5-10k. Currently I got Michelin PP2's on the front, and Pirrelli PZero Rosso's on the back. The PP2's were new on the car when I got it, and the Pzero's were near new. So far they've done ~45,000k, which I think is pretty good?

Anyway, I stopped in at Jax QF at Browns Plains:
Michelin PS3's: $259
Pirelli P7's: $259
Maxxis IPro's: $249

Bob Jane Browns Plains:
Michelin PS3's: $289
Falken Ze912: $209

These prices were without any haggling (since I was just shopping around), but I reckon I could of screwed em down a little further.

What would you guys go for? Do the PS3's have the 2-ply sidewalls like the PP2's? I do like the look and feel of the PP2's, i'm assuming the PS3's would have comparable performance?

You PZero's had done 45K already? you probably get another 10k out of them at most I reckon, PZero's aren't exactly the most hard wearing compound.

Anyhow, I heard good things about the Falken ZE912, it's like a performance tire on the cheap.

I'll personally never buy Michelin or Pirelli... Since the "Premium" priced tyre you buy have every chance of being made out of the same factory as them kumho's or maxxis or whatever, and some of those cheaper tires work just as well if not better (eg: Nexen, the cheap Korean tire manufacturer used to make Michelin's for them...). Each to their own i guess.

Ahh, should have worded that better. The PZero's were near new (had maybe done 5k), and the PP2's were brand new when I got the car. The PZero's are closer to being worn out than the PP2's, but I figured I might as well replace all 4 at once (not real sure why the previous owner didn't rotate their tyres and replace all 4 at once!?).

Anyway, reading up on the Falken ZE912 spec sheet, they do seem like a good value tyre, i'll have to do some more research.

There are car owners and then there are car owners.... some are just cheap... lol
see if you can get a quote for some Falken FK452's. Heard they were awesome.

on to my second set of kumho ku 31. i'm a daily driver - just to and from work.
this tyre is more than enough. i did a search for reviews on tyre on the web and the general consensus
is that they are pretty good quality and good value. for 130 each you can't go wrong (225 45 17). I can pay 250+ for other brand names like
dunlop, bridgestone, michelin etc... - close to double the price but i doubt double the quality.
