basicly height clearance is my prob, ill have to see how tall the stock one is or how much room in the chassis

yeh ive got the 2.5 inch inlet and 4 inch outlet varex cannon waiting to be put onto my car it should fit as the motor isnt that big the whole cannon is almost normal size

I have a DA9 LS B18A1 5 speed, engine has 255 xxx ks on it and runs abit sick so i just bought a DA9 auto with an immaculate B18A1 with 160 xxx ks on it, so i want to take the engine out of the manual shell and replace it with the engine from the auto shell.
Questions:
# will the auto engine bolt onto the manual gearbox without cutting or drilling?
# is this nearly the same as converting an auto DA9 into a manual, but not having to worry about installing clutch and pedal? just go straight to the engine gearbox part of the conversion?
# is there a guide for this?

only thing is, if there both series 1 or 2.
what year are the cars?
if both cars are same year, then its straight swap
basicly take engine out, take auto off engine,
take other engine out, take manual off, take flywheel clutch off. put flywheel clutch manual on good engine, and bolt it back in.
its a bit of work, if ur mechanically minded its quite doable,
also convertin auto da to manual, isnt easy haha, ive done it before
but a straight engine swap shud be fine.
theres a service manual on the web somewhere to, help a lil.
itll tell u how to remove engine, and torque specs.
while doin this id get a new clutch
but basicly if any of this worries u a lil, go to a workshop and get it done, but couldnt begin to tell u how much itd cost

The year only really matters for which clutch you get, early years are different to the 92-93.
Give the engine a good service before you put it in as well, new seals, timing belt, water pump etc. Do it now and it can save a lot of mucking around down the track

i had a pipe welded up to replace the old intake when i got the manual DA9 3 years ago , but its the same length as stock box, so i was gunna extend it down through that hole under the stock box, is that the best place to have your pod?

well to clear a few things up guys, both DA's are built in '89' , are same engine(B18A1) to the tee, bar the tranny, i have a heavy duty clutch in the manual gear box ,and it feels ok still, but i think i'll take your advice and put a new clutch in as i cant be bothered doing this twice. Now i've been trying my very hardest to understand the whole obd0 and obd1 thing and im not quite getting it.now i understand that if i swap a motor other than the original, in my case ill need to change my obd thing( lol soz) , but because i have the same engine , and they run off the same computer, i dont need to upgrade, but if i wanted to tune my car to suit the mods that i do/way that i drive, then i have to upgrade???, i was looking on the Hondata web site and they say i need to upgrade to a s100 or sumthing??
From personal experience guys, is upgrading my computer worth it? is it hard? and what kind of $$$ am i looking at??

Duh, sorry forgot about OBD0/1. Stevo is right, should be a drop in swap if they are both the same year. I was only thinking mechanically not electrically
As for the computer, you only need to change that if you have modifications that affect the tuning. You will see a benefit even on a stock motor but bang for buck there are better things to spend money on first.
Personally I would get- CAI,exhaust, cat, header, cams, computer, throttle/intake manifold, internals etc etc. In that order. Purchase price is about $500 on an S100 second hand then about $600 for tuning
if same year no need to change ur computer everythin will build up,
id change sump gasket, and check the rear main seal, not that hard to change,
then rocker cover gasket, and the spark plug ones, theres good kits in america for around 100 dollars that come with alot of gaskets
oxy sensor is always good to replace, even tho there lil expensive around 90 bucks if i remember correctly.
check the pipe at the back that connects from water pump to thermostat, if hasnt corroded that like to leak, pretty much check all the hoses see if there still rubbery if too hard change em, same deal with gaskets rele.
i can help with exhaust part of deal got one for sale hi flow and 2 1/4 piping ;)
once u start moddin alot, as mooshie said, id only rele tune once u start changing internals such as cams, anythin that huge changes air flow, then its recommened to change to odb1
but with I/H/E, thers no need to tune

take out complete interior, get rid of most wires, and put some bars in

oh and the water pump is rele annoyin lol, loud, ive completely stripped out back for racing, annoyin to drive lol, SOOO loud

Well i rang Vic Roads to ask what they thought about the whole going a 2 seater, they said it doesnt require a engeneers cert unless you are adding to the standed amount of passengers you can carry , but in saying that i drove around with a hollow rear for about a month, and i liked it , didnt think it was loud, but then stock exhaust .............not custom =)))
wanna make it neat , wanted a cross bar , custom side plastic pannels, and carpet throughout the whole rear if that would work.

broke the ball joint clip in my rear view mirror again, anyone know how to take apart the mirror to get to the ball joint clip inside?

i have a good interior in my DA9, just missing that fuse box cover, and I am not mad keen on swapping the interior out of the red car.
on another note, finished rebuilding my P/S pump today, finally no more messiness on the passenger side of the engine bay!
I suppose I really should have taken pics and done a write up, but that was a P72 pump. I do have a PR3 pump all in pieces that I could put back together with new seals if anyone is interested?

just make sure you torque the 6mm bolts to 11nm and the 8mm bolts to about 22, pully bolt is reverse thread and torques to about 64nm. I used a screwdriver wedged in one of the holes of the pully to hold it still while using the spanner on the nut. I did break 2 of the 6mm bolts but luckily got them out again before I decided to go and purchase a 1/4in torque wrench cos my big one cant go down to such low numbers.
sheizzz, buying a 1/4 torque wrench is just overkill man. so much outlay for something not going to be used much.will the system bleed itself of all the bubbles after you put it back together?
Meh, only cost $75 and I will use it again, always breaking small bolts...
System bleeds itself, but I would recommend having someone on hand to add more fluid to the resevoir while you start the car.
Just turn lock to lock a few times and all the air comes out
Oh, there is also another O-ring that goes on the high pressure hose from the top of the pump it is not listed in any schematics I have found so far so no idea on the part number. I *think* I used a 9mmx1.9mm O-ring from my generic pack which had to stretch a tiny bit but got on there and should seal nicely.
Just to remind everybody, this is for a P72 pump from a B18C NOT for a PR3 DA9 pump which is completely different in design.

I need to make a Custom carpet for rear of my da9 with rear seat removed and leaving rear interior pannels on, just want carpet to go from were the carpet stops under the front of the back seats all the way to the rear( with a door cut out of the carpet over the fuel pump), will have a custom boot floor and carpet will have to go over the boot floor, Ive got the black carpet so just wanted to know were u guys would recomend getting the extra black carpet needed to match the rest?

Also , I don't like the sunroof, but I don't want to bog it, is there an alternative to the electric sunroof? Anyone done a custom? What I'm thinking is a manually opened and closed sunroof, should take a poo load of weight off if done properly, just don't know if it's possible , idea's ?

well 16x8 with 36 offset is running fine with no scrubbing or anything... 0 offest youll need as prev said camber arms stiff suspension and prob stretchies ..... your fronts will be a squeeze i reckon massive camber tho :D itll look wicked tho

as for the wheels i run a 16x7 with +15 offset they sit out by 1 inch front and rear at stock ride height, ive just bout to drop it with some konis, and im hoping it will just nicely tuck into the wheel arch, there is a pic of a white da integra with 15x8 with 0 offset, this thing doesnt drive around much at all because of the stance... looks sick though
and for the sunroof ive seen carbon panels made up and then stuck into place, drops alot of weight out and looks quite neat, i know on g2ic.com you can also buy a cf roof skin, this means u can either cut the roof metal skin off and leave the surports in place, and then glass the panel into place or u can put the skin over the top of the metal roof

To start with I was thinking if there was a way to remove the most if the sunroof and try to make it a Manual open/close only, but I also really like the replacements fo the glass, wish there was an alternative to c/f tho, they want like near $5oo for the c/f cap!!
I've owned my teg for 3 years and my sunroof has never worked, so I took it out and opened it up too see if anything looked wrong , the 2 gears were worn out and wernt coming into contact with the sunroo motor, called around and was quoted $300 to replace part, so I ended up with a parts car and there was one in it, so I took it out an installed it into my teg and on the first try it opened really fast, but then got stuck and wouldn't close, after ages and after pushing close button heaps it shut while being pushed .
I want to use the bloody thing,
