I see CL9's for like $12k - $15k now. Good nick, low K, late models.

It would be interesting to see what they would be going ahead with the price increase. Maybe the economy will be better and our dollar increase in the next month or so.
(Wishful thinking I know but for sake of people who in the market to buy a new car, I hope it does)
Lower currency = higher cost to import cars into Aus.. we can blame the yanks for this. God Bless Amercia ;-)
My Freind's CL9 black Lux Auto, got the car brand new Feb 2008, (2007 built) $42500 purchased price. Done less than ~7700km, done first scheduled service at 6 month at Honda dealer. still got new car smell.
Sold to a Honda dealer 10 days ago. $27000 only (some delaer offered less)... That's very very sad..
$42500 - $27000 = $15500 depreciation in 9 month. of course we have to factor in that CL9 is superceded model, and the built date is 2007. But that is still a terrible depreciaiton of 36.5%
When buying a new car, Dealer tells you Honda holds their value because they don't do fleet and govy cars... but in reality I dont think their cars do any better than other makers'.
That's just a trade in price, cupnoodle just recently sold his 07 black manual lux for $32990 with ~15000km, I don't think it has actually depreciated that much as there still a big demand for 06+ lux models espcially well looked after ones. And also for some reason, 2nd hand prices wise for the euro lux, manual prices are more auto, and black is a very popular 2nd hand sellers, I was camping half dozens of vehicle selling websites for over 1.5 years to be confident to say this.
The general principals are
1) Dealers will nearly always give the "worst" value for trade-in (buy low, sell high to maximise profit)
2) Much better value in selling privately though of course it requires much more effort (advertising, handling calls including time wasters etc.)
Which one is right for each person depends.
I have been offered a 07 lux auto with sat nav for $33,900 drive away from a dealer. Taking out the on road costs, this means the car is about $32k. This car would have been about $43-$45k new so thats a $11k drop in one year.
The 06's dont seem to be selling for much less than this so it appears the biggest loss is in the first year.
If I could get a 1 year old CU2 auto lux navi for $34k driveaway, I'd be all over it! I don't think they will drop as much being the newer model but you never know.
^i dont think that will happen for the CU2. The reason for the 11k or so drop is because a brand new model was released. If its drops $5-10k per year, and most honda models last for about 6 years lol, buying the CU2 at the 5 or 6th year would be almost free! :D :p
My local dealer told me today that the only car moving out of the yard now is the new Jazz. CU2 not selling and neither is the Accord.
I just Traded up from an 06 Civic VTI Auto - 2 1/2 yrs old, 61,000km, New price was $22,990 - trade was $16,200 leaving a net loss of $6,800. Standard CU2 Auto on road was $37,400. A very impressive deal i think
