This is bullshit!
I've tried vtec'ing, no vtec'ing and i havn't been able to hit past 330km mark without light coming on.
Dc2R.
BULLCRAP
yeh well, i get 650 plus from my Colt.
and it costs $30 bucks to fill atm moment
HA HA HA HA
330 is pretty bad for the teg...dc2r or not.
Your obviously running pretty rich mixtures. Might pay to have the car given a close look by a mechanic.
Pull out the spark plugs have a look.....check for leaks in the exhaust? oxygen sensor have that checked....etc etc
I get around 550-600 from a tank, mixed city/fwy from DC5 A/T.
Managed 700+ on freeways to 12 apostles, apollo bay, other places and back the other day.
also make sure the oil you use is not too thick, and tire pressure is good, 37-38psi all round for me..
recently changed to iridium spark plugs and saw an improvement in consumption and much smoother revs throughout the rev range.
I find taking off reasonably fast doesn't contribute much to fuel consumption as long as you dont brake hard too often (unless you have to that is).
DC5s should be getting 8L/100kms mixed driving as claimed by Honda. And you shouldnt have to drive like a grandma.. LoL
Efficiency is determined by fuel in vs energy out, not load and throttle position. Revving an engine higher is going to waste more energy through friction. Air pumping losses are minimised at full-throttle.
Accelerating and decelerating slowly, and maintaining momentum are key ideas to maximum fuel efficiency. When it comes to small capacity 4cyl engines however, sometimes keeping the revs down simply isn't an option, which fuels the illusion.
I get 500-600km from 50L.
stock dc2r, using v-power i get 400-420km's bp ultimate i get 430-450km's.
You are right about fuel vs energy, however load and throttle position DO affects this. There is obviously a balance between too high revs and too low revs that yields the optimum rev range for fuel consumption with out over reving and also bogging down.
My point was to destroy the common misconception that simply changing at a lower rev reduces fuel consumption. - You said so yourself in your final sentence.
When do you guys notice your fuel light come on?
I think mine comes on at 38L. I would've thought this is a tad bit early for a 50L tank. At least 40L-42L?
Geez.. All this time I thought the dc2r had a tiny tank. 50L is pretty decent.
in my vti-r i get a clean 11ks out of 1 litre.. (10L = 110k) thats on 'moderate' vtec-ing. confused on the capacity of the tank too. 45 litres.. or 50?
