I ran 215/45/17 stretched tyres on 17x8 with no problems. not even close the guard.
true true, i had no problem b4 with 205/45/17 on the same wheel. proabably the tyres.
to answer the OP's question
Yes you can run +35 offset.
Yes you can use coilovers with them.
For how low you want it, it won't go as low as if you had +40 or above offset as it'll rub guards. <--camber kit is req'd

I think felix's offset was really low as well.
Im using +38 offset it rub like hell b4 the guard were rolled but now no worries as i use 225/40 front n rear
