Buy a VW Jetta, much better deals at the moment.

my friend forgot to ask regarding if the price he paid is driveaway price incl green slip 1 yr, rego 1 yr & full tank petrol. He ring the dealer the next day and the salesman agree to include them on the agreed price.

The price is 42k for manual 2008 build 2009 compliance CU2 Lux with tint, matt, boot cargo

Yeah, I always make it a point nowadays even if I'm not buying a car I advise people I know who's about to buy a car to get the dealer to fill up the tank to the full - if nothing else that's the least they can do! Don't want to get stuck out of the showroom with the petrol tank nearly empty!

I was all set to purchase a Euro in February until I found this site and researched the "pinging" issue.

I wanted a Luxury Navi in auto, first price was $51,300 drive away with 5 year warranty, and 2 phone calls later it was $48,000, without me even asking for a discount. I would have purchased at $44,000. That was on a late 08 build, car was on the showroom floor (not a demo either).

Never let the dealer know you "want" the car, bargaining power will go out the window.

I have signed up for a BMW 125i coupe, should get it next week. That has been an interesting experience also, always make sure they actually have a car to sell you!! Some more advice, if you are happy with car and price, sign the contract on the basis that delivery will be completed in xxx days, once they have your deposit, they seem to be very slow in the delivery. I am scratching my head that it will take about 4 weeks to get a car from Sydney to Brisbane and give it a wash prior to delivery?

Wow, a BMW 125i coupe, thats not as much as a Euro Lux Navi is it?

Yeh the pinging issue is not a nice thought. But i want it in Manual, and the pinging issue seems to surround the auto's. Maybe someone with a Manual can tell me otherwise. The new euro's are such nice cars!

I took it for granted that a full tank of fuel was a standard norm in dealerships when you purchased a new car.. with that said, when they picked my car up to (attempt to) fit the towbar - a week after official handover & vehicle delivery - they detailed the car inside-out, gave me a full tank of fuel, and a temp drive car for the day. Now that's Customer Service u can't knock! ^^

I've found in purchasing negotiations, u gotta do your research, discuss with the sales person via phone, and flat out refuse to walk in and waste 'face time' until a deals' been nutted out to your liking (being polite but firm of course). You'll encounter some nasty sales people but I got my car for the price of the model below with items thrown in too :)

Power to the buyer, we have the $$!!

The BMW 125i Coupe that I have ordered is plenty more than a Luxury Navi. I wouldn't even have been looking in that price bracket if the Euro didn't have these issues. The dealer even told me that the pinging had been fixed (back in Feb) when Honda hadn't issued any advice on it until March. Do your research before spending any money.

Yeah absolutely, however in some dealerships you do get some clueless knobs working there unfortunately.

Good thing is that recently things have absolutely improved! :thumbsup:
