ok guys if the ZC is in as many cars as you say it is, point me in the direction of a mechanic who knows how to diagnose it. Theres no diagnosis software for it, yet according to what you guys say its in just as many cars as the d16, if not more.

PS no malace intended, I would seriously like to find a good mechanic, I cant get anyone who can fix my engine accuratly, its all trial and error.
I think thats could be because mine might be slightly different. what does your ZC have, hydro or cable clutch. whats the cam cover colour? Remembering mines also an import and the last vehicle that was released with this engine (from what you've said) so there could have possibly been factory upgrades. I've heard of people in the US using mine for swaps and i remember read and someone asking, about the hydro clutch, make sure it has one, and also a black cam cover with the 4 chrome bolts on the corners of the cover. just a note.
Hanny's for a start at Smithfield NSW. I'd also think about trying a Honda dealer - they sorted some problems with my JDM Civic with no software etc.Quote:

ZCs came in DOHC and SOHC combinations in Japan. EFi and Twin-carb depending on the Integra (1st gen), Civic (3rd gen on) or CRX (1st and second gen). They came with gold or black covers. They were also rated between 115 to 135 bhp.
Aussie spec were 130bhp cable trannied in 88 - 91 and ran the same management as their JDM counterpart.
Cheers
Yep he's right... The post 94 EG VTi's are EG8 or something... as opposed to EG5. I learnt that only a few months ago :)Quote:
Correction. From around 1994/5 onwards they stopped putting the SOHC VTEC engines in the Vti. (Hence post 94 vti's have the 88kW SOHC engine as the gli).
Will update later.
Are thats where the descepencies would be, and why the aussy spec is called a D16a8 and not ZC. They're basically identical. My model probs be the higher model, hydro clutch, Black cover and rated at 135hp(qouted from guys in the US) Most of the sensors i've replaced with D16a8 and havn't had any trouble, I dont get why they cant diagnose with the same software. oh well doesn't matter.Quote:

Re-read my post - the Aussie spec was also the ZC - the Aussie black-top ZC was the same as the JDM one. Even when the designation changed, it was the same beast. BTW: the yanks are usually wrong about that stuff. :P
Go talk to Robbie about it at Hanny's.
Given that this is an Aussie forum, why doesn't everyone just reffer to it as the D16A8!!
Because the ZC came out in the first Aussie Gen 2 CRXs :P
Arrrggggggg :D
and we own JDM models.
what does a breeze have? :D
No we don't. Australia had the Civics etc built in Japan but they were export. If you look at the JDM lineup, most times what Australia got doesn't match the JDM varients (because they have dozens of different models). Even the US got LHD Civics etc built in Japan as well as their home factories.Quote:

Example: Our 4th gen Civic is similar to the XT25 in Japan but we never got the revised nosecone and rear spoiler it did. Our 2nd Gen CRX is actually a CRX Si but again runs different ancilleries. In both cases, the car is what was deemed appropriate for the Aussie market and revisions were then made to meet the ADRs.
JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. We are not part of Japan - yet ;)
