Maybe OT, as these aren't my times, but thought they might be interesting, informative & a good indication of "stock" cars driven by experienced drivers [such as Rick Bates & Dean Evans] compared to our stock or modified Honda's with your driving skill.

Motor Magazine's Bang for your Buck 2003 tested the cars out on the Wakefield track. [i kept it to just these cars]

Echo Sportivo 1:20.84
Corolla Sportivo 1:16.75
Barina SRi 1:18.28
Focus ST170 1:15.78
Clio Sport 1:14.27
Astra SRi Turbo 1:14.44
Elise 111S 1:10.44

There's no way your average driver can get near 1.14.27 in an Astra turbo. They are complicated and not easy to drive on the limit...

I saw that, rick bates and Dean Evans did the driving, I am just saying that one car in particular is more difficult than the rest. The difference between them and joe average would be huge, compared to the rest, which would be smaller - except maybe the elise time... damn thats quick!!

a good mate of mine was doing consistant 1:20.xx's in a corolla station wagon, dead stock, on rooted stock tyres.

I think I win in the rooted tyre catagory...
2 punctured, and bald Yoko A539s on back, and brand new Hankook Ventus K102as on the front... I swapped them over and the front was nice, but DORIFTO is not the fastest way around a cold track....

And when I finally had the track put together (seconf time at wakefiled, firt time in the dry and in a FWD car), I had a passenger (yes, teaching me a better line through 3 sections, which improved track speed dramatically)... So the chance to get a really quick time, at the fastest time of the day, was unfortunately ruined...

The budget was destroyed for new tyres.. The credit card bill has hit a new high.. Not surprising with the current mail order

Euro R Inlet manifold, Type S cams, cam gears, ECU, Headers, exhaust, Koni yellows, castor kit... No money left for tyres with a weeks notice....

PLUS - My head hits the roof in my car with a helmet on.. Not easy to drive. Recaro might fix that next time...

Anyway, was still faster than a lot of cars on the day

Unofficial ............1:18.4 (hand timed).........but the official after-party was at GAS night club.

Apexi stage III rust controler
Falken competition slicks (was way to cold for it i'd expect more grip in the come'n months)
headers dis&daat and noise polution.

2nd time out at wakefield. First time out at track with race tyres.

need to get stiffer front springs.

aiming for low 1:16's. with Apex'i X rust accelerater, "Sprite" 102 RON fuel and loosing the 4 doors on the next outing.
