What damage does it do? It runs out of fuel and it stops. You put more fuel in and it goes again. (I could be wrong, it might do some damage, but I have run out of fuel before and that's what happened.) Basically when it starts to run out of fuel you pretty much can't rev it anymore, like it just starts dying. Every time I've been driving on the highway (and every time I had a jerry can because I was testing!) and it just starts backing off by itself. I pull over and it idles a bit wonky. Turn it off, fill up with jerry can, turn ignition to on (don't start) so the fuel pump gets going for a bit, then you can crank it up and pop in to the servo and fill up fully.
That's how I know. If it's really bad, someone tell me because I've never had any issues with my cars when I have done this. (Have not done it with my Honda though, not all the way out).
EDIT: That's why I was really surprised, like I thought the light was busted but I got another 100km out of it before the light came on! I was like... AAHHH Okay!
I think cd5 mines a 94 vti has 64 fuel tank..according to redbook..got 56L maxx in it might push it till near empty see if the fuel light turns on? lol and have a jerry can on my boot
