Yeap that's right!
As it has four wheels I think it looks too much like a car.
I saw a weird gold/grey colour one on on James Ruse Drv, and from the rear I hated it, whatever happened to identifiable cars??? too much Camry, turns me right off getting one, especially no Type R (grrr)
^ agreed! car is way too Japanese.
OMG Toyota Aurion tail lights almost same as my Civic FD, now performance is affected, my car running like a Camry
u mad brah?
NAH! i'm amused by the complaints.
heh?

"almost same"?
Going for a test drive on Friday. Dealer in Brisbane tells me manual VTILs are getting pretty thin on the ground. He claims they have none...

Quote:
Honda is accelerating its plans to update the Civic, Automotive News is reporting. Although it's selling pretty well, Honda's redesigned-for-2012 Civic has been panned by critics, tarnishing the brand image of this perennial compact-class benchmark.
Earlier reports suggested that Honda was planning a midcycle refresh sometime in 2013, but Honda officials at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas announced that an updated Civic will come out this fall, just 18 months after the new one debuted.
With the 2012 redesign, the Civic got fresh styling, a new specific high-fuel-economy model and, many argue, a cheaper interior and overall feel. It sounds like Honda's update to the Civic will address those faults. Details haven't been released, but Honda has said the changes will be "significant."
Bought one, VTIL manual, Polished metal (grey metallilc colour) only accessory is carpet mats. $22500 driveway. Pick up sometime around 15 May. Rear end of the car is not the nicest but the car is really well finished, drives great and is a cut above the comparible competition for this size of car. Now just have to sell my old GD 2004 VTIS Jazz...
Whereabout are you 62 rocket? I'm after a vti-s jazz for the missus...
Ormeau Hills (half way between Bris and Gold Coast). Haven't advertised the car yet as my new car is still like 10 to 14 days off yet and I still need wheels to get around.
it's a 2004, vivid blue, one owner, manual, always garaged, looks like it's done 40k. It has done 197,000 but still drives awesome. i don't thrash my cars. Will be sold with RWC, 5 months rego. Every receipt, every service document etc is available. Honda serviced from new until 150k and then by my mate who went out in business by himself. he's an A grade mechanic. Has new Kuhmo Tyres at 184,000. No issues with the car, just a big stone chip in the bonnet and a cracked front left driving light lens - driving light still works.
redbook says 8600 to 10,400 for a private sale. not looking for anywhere near that as I will be looking to onsell this Jazz pretty soon after getting the new Civic. PM me if you are interested. My price will be very realistic and well below the bottom of redbooks private sale price. Honda offered me $5,500 as a trade... they weren't that far off the money I wanted. In short, i want it gone and I want very little interaction with people that want to stuff me about etc etc. In short, i reckon the first person to see it will buy.
The rear end look could be improved, at other angles the car looks great. From a driver and passanger point of view the car is great.
Missus said no to blue... Sorry..
Search continues....
Just got the Civic Sport 2012 today ...
and the interior is awesome ..the steering is like a F1 steering with lots of buttons , u can't really operate it while driving ...
leather everything on the seats .....
the dashboard ... as reviewed was a bit "cheap" .... but still acceptable
BUT
the "cockpit" is freaking awesome ...
it has like a "3D' effect on the 2 bars on the left and right of the speedometer ...
the one that helps you to drive at the most economical ..
the econ button .. erm ... i do not know seriously ..
not much of a different to me if it is on or not.. so for efficient fuel driving , i just left it on
... unless you going to floor the pedal and do a lot of overtaking ..... you might feel the difference with the econ button off...
the exterior ... well ....like all the critics have been saying .. the 8th gen is better ...but Honda said that the changes is for the fuel efficiency
so i guess there is always PROs and Cons to it ...
sorry.. the leather is awesome
i mean the dashboard....was a bit of a downgrade
seems that they went with a harder type of material on the 9th gen .. rendering it looks cheaper than the 8th
the 8th have softer material ...
i do not have the car to compare side by side , but base on what I can remember ...
but with the awesome display ... you won't notice much of the dashboard anyway.. :)
^yeah they look the same but if you see it in person, maybe its just the new car shiny-ness, but the new civic rear does look nicer and kind of classy lol
much nicer curves etc
had a dyno blue sport parked next to me at uni, red P as well
I gonna put up "L" on my car .. LOL ..
we need the civic si =C
What do you think about this news?
http://www.carsales.com.au/news/2012...th-plans-30215
Starting from $24,500 for the Civic Si Hatch
i have the Civic SI launch on June 4th. Looking forward to it.
Civic Sport will have Sat nav and reverse camera and smart key when it arrives next month from thailand.
There will be a Vti-l and Vti-LN also. The Vti-L is the same as the current jap one but the Vti_LN gets sat nav and camera, rain sensing wipers, smart key, auto head lights, chrome door handles and i think fog lights.
sports will be around 34k on rd.
Looks better with the Modulo, but am thinking I would rather an 8th Gen
looks better with the 18" modulo wheels also not those ones shown.
I don't see what's so bad about the back triangular lights? personally I liked it, its different from the old triangular lights design from the old toyota/honda cars, its more modern...?
The only thing thats missing from my VTI-L is the sat-nav and the smart start!
Persistant rattle on my 3 month old Civic. Seems to be coming from dashboard passenger side around or inside the glovebox or the glovebox itself (which is empty).
Only started noticing it last couple of days. Most annoying when driving slowly over corrugations or holes in the road. Anybody else getting any rattles?
Another bad news for Honda marketing dept... at $24k/$25k-ish the base Civic hatchback will missed some gadget that comes standard on the cheaper competitor... No auto lights and wiper might still be ok, but no cruise control? Wat the???

Good news
The civic euro hatch starting from 22650.
Wonder how good the base is for mods?
wow very competitive pricing
someone needs to mod the read to not look so butt ugly though
Picked up my new Civic this morning. Told them I would be at the dealer at 830am and they agreed. Guess what? Dealer was closed! Confirmed the pick up time yesterday! Waited until 9am. Got the car, happy with it but got it home and found that the service record book wasn't filled out at all. No name, no car details, nothing but a blank book. Looked closer at the car and it had a Southside Honda sticker on the rear window with Von Bibra Honda number plate frames! Pretty poor I reckon and a complete lack of attention to detail by this dealer. It's obvious to me now that the car was in stock at Southside Honda. About the only thing they did for me was beat the price of any other dealer. Will be going back on the first service to get the book filled out properly (like it should have been done the first time!). That's about it, I won't be going back.
so caradvice is wrong? http://www.caradvice.com.au/174243/h...ore-than-7000/
oh and on Drive as well: http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor...525-1z9w4.html
THe 2012 Honda Civic Hatch is $22,650 plus on-road costs . . . . $24,990 drive away. Both articles have a reference to the drive away price . . .
woooooooooooooooooooooooooopsssssssssssss
big sorry to everyone, im used to saying total on road prices lol my mistake sorry lads. just thought people were posting 22650 on road. i will read better last time!
24,990 drive away for the VTI-S manual.

lmzo no worries moite
what's are dlr's?
day time running lights, like CRZ
LOL you said DLR not DRL
I agree they are cool
I wanted USDM style ones when i was driving the civic - they run the high beams at lower power. (tried to stick a fuse in fuse 37 but the circuit's not there lol)
im not having a good week lol DRL is the one!
on a good note, going to crown paladium at the crown casino tonight for Honda awards and im getting something. prob not an award for correct information.....lol
then i have the new civic launch next monday night at the docklands!
Lots to look forward to.
Congrats!
Done 300km so far in the new Civic (1.8 litre). seem to be getting very good fuel mileage of 6.4 litres to the 100km with 50/50 highway/urban. That's very close to what I was getting in my old 1.5 litre Jazz.
Guys, I got the jap built ones (VTI-L), what are the chances that I will be able to add accessories such as the sat-nav and smart entry system? (when the thai built ones go on sale)
I see the Thai Built VTI is advertised at $22,990 driveway. Pretty standard looking with hubcaps.
dont see why you just didnt go for the sports =S
got 6.49 litres per 100km in the first full tank of fuel for the new Civic. 60% highway, 40% urban driving. Pretty good mileage I reckon. Saw as low as 5.4 l/100km as per the realtime fuel usage display.
been driving my civic 1.8 since early march, fuel consumption is exactly what the sticker says. fuel consumption shown on i-MID is very accurate, has been doing own calculation every time i fill up the tank. usually drive on urban road, getting around 7.8l/km.
one disappointment on the car was its i-MID. saw quite a number of options on US civic like auto-door lock when traveling above defined speed, check on rear seatbelt, etc but couldn't find such option in my civic :(
Mine (my Wife's) 8.4 mainly inner city driving using Unleaded. On highway it will easily do 6.5. It does take E10 which is a positive, not intending to use it though. From memory Euro Civic is only Premium Unleaded similar power numbers.
Car is always a pleasure to drive. Enjoying iPod connectivity.
Is anyone can confirm the sat NAV on the Civic Thai Built is placed on the i MDI or it is a bigger screen on the CD player? Thanks so much
did my first 1k service with Von Bibra, promised to bring me back to office after dropping the car, waited 1/2hr for it. while on the way back to office, tried to make appointment to pick up the car with the driver (if not mistaken he is the owner...? just my gut feel), driver say has to be somewhere else, can't pick me up. ended walking 1km to the workshop after work to pick up the car. guess what, the driver who claim he has to be somewhere else was there in the service center! considering not going back there again.
Did my 1k service with them. Asked for the front page of the service booklet to be filled out - which I found was left blank after pick up of the new car.
Asked for the book to be filled out. Got the book back after the first service. The idiots can't even get that right. Whiteout all over the page and then checked the 1000k service page. It was blank. They filled out the 10,000 km service page!! Must have got the apprentice onto my car. Lodging a complaint with Honda as I am over these pr icks.
