Have Michelin Pilot Sports on my srock 15 x 6 alloys. Sorry dont know mm specs. But they are as NOISY as hell! Can't wait to get rid of them!
anybody knows who a good plc to get full wheel alignment and to get 14/60/195 cdrive/? would be helpful..thxxx heaps
Bob Jane has it. Not the cheapest, but you get a free 2nd alignment after 3 months. And if you buy 4 Yokohama tyres from them, you get a $50 BP fuel card. That's if you like BP Ultimate. :)

Need advice on 205/40/17 tyres. My current choices are;
1. Yoko A539 (~$250s)
2. Dunlop LE702 (been quoted $215)
3. Dunlop FM901
What you guys reckon? I really don't wanna spend more than $215 per tyre so my choice would be LE702, but I need ur opinions. How does LE702 compare to A539?
The equivalent of the Yoko A539 are the C.Drives. I'm not sure on the price in that size though. But if you are having trouble finding A539 stock, then C.Drive is the current model that is meant to replace A539.
Melb info - For S.E Suburbs the Tyrepower near Monash union blackburn road is awesome prices and service, genuinly good guy. Or Traction and Tyres or something Kellets road Rowville, good job, good prices.
For a539's i got mine for $115 each fitted, 250 is way too much. Make sure you let them know you are shopping around and u know ure stuff, ie load ratings, sizes etc, cos if u are noob they will rip u off.
Cheers
Matt
Just got some Yokohama AVS ES100 from Bob Jane + my $50 BP voucher Yay! Cost me $210 a tyre, pretty happy with performance so far, still got a few hundred k's to wear in properly. Had Toyo TPG's previously and was quite happy with them also.
What's the size? I haven't been quoted for a359, I just searched in google and it came up with $250.Quote:

Unfortunately C.drive doesn't come in 205/40/17Quote:

Guys, I've been quoted from tyre power
and from bob janeQuote:
The 205/40R17 ES100 tyres are $290 each, fitted and balanced.
Do you think the price is way too high?Quote:
205/40ZR17 Fulda Exelero 84WXL @ $213.00 each fitted, balanced and valved.
205/40ZR17 Yokohama AR01 84W @ $249.00 each fitted, balanced and valved.
Ahh, that size is covered by the A.Drive instead. High performance tyre, so it will be more expensive than the C.Drive.Quote:

need to remind you guys, you will NEVER get the best price possible by finding a generic quote on the internet. Go to a store, show them you know ure stuff, show them you are genuinly interested in purchasing a set of tyres, and then you will the best quote possible.
any advice/recommendation for 235/40R18 tyres?
looking for average daily use, good grip in wet n dry and not too noisy.
my budget is about 250-280.
if there are any places where you can recommend i can get them cheap, pls let me know too. ;)
thanks!!
what do people reccommend in the 14 inch range ?
185/195 x 60 x 14 :)
195/60R14 Bridgestone GII or GIII's
Not much else out there that is not designed for Mum's Shopping Car(t)
godamit: http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/v2/pro...h=uhpt&id=1172 235/40R18's are awesome... Currently what I am running on my X-Trail GT(Jap turbo version)
These are also good

Pretty good tyre - quiet, grippy, great in the wet, HEAPS of tread (grooves are deeeep). Got quoted at $115ea, but managed a special price of $95ea balanced, fitted + alignment.
On another note, I'm looking for new tyres for my civic - 205/40/17.
Rung around a few places, got quoted so far (fitted + balanced):
- Kingstar @ $155 ea
- Hankook K104 @ $200ea
- Dunlop SP Sport Max @ $240ea
- Yokohama A Drive @ $249ea
- Yokohama AR01RF @ $257ea
- Fulda Excelero @ $220 ea
- Goodyear Revspec @ $273ea
- Bridgestone G3 @ $278ea
- Maxxis MAV1 @ $182ea
- Pirrelli Dragon @ $299ea
I'm leaning towards the Fuldas, but am also considering the Goodyear Revspec, Pirrelli Dragons and Yokohamas.
Anybody got any experience with any of these? What are they like on road noise, wet/dry performance, grip, mileage, etc??
What's the different between Yokohama A drive and A drive R1? Aren't they the same?
I'm about to try it out :D, it's relatively new as well so you can't really get the feedback from it.
If you want Hankook , get K105 is a replacement for K104 :D It's a much better tyres
Anyone used Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 ?
comments?
Except the Hankook K105 is not available in 205/40R17 but K107 has it in a 195/40R17!
Also, Hankook 105 is not the replacement for the 104, they are designed at different markets.
This really depends on what your aftering, K105 is designed for low noise and comfort driving e.g. sedans and luxuary cars. K104 is designed for those who demands performance over comfort so it focus on only aspects of higher traction, grip and responsiveness. so dont get confused with the pattern/model name.Quote:

any more recommendations for 235/40R18 tyres beside k104?
my needs are for normal daily driving.
btw, 235 fits on 18x7.5" rims right?
good year eagle f1....very good tyres as long as there made in germany which they should be cause AFAIK anything equal to or smaller than 16's are made in thailand or taiwan or something...and 17's and bigger are made in germany....
IMO buying 18's good years...
gL
Try the H422 or the H424 from the Hankook range.. those tyres are designed more towards comfortable driving.Quote:

Firenza are cheap Falken copies... Not a great tyre but OK for a cheap tyre. Wear like crazy being a very soft compound(try putting your finger nail into the tyre shops test tyre)
so are good tyres to get 215/40/17 that are 200 or under as iam in need of some new ones soon. i got my frienza for 160 each and not really that good. prices and name would be good guys.
cheers
i second that.Quote:

incredible grip in both wet and dry. accelerating traction in the wet is also brilliant. i changed to these from Dunlop FM901 and i feel these are very similar, probly better for lateral grip. basically i've been able to take corners posted as 30kmh at close to 80kmh and these havent even felt like they were going to give.
after looking at other tyres (dunlop direzza, various Yokohamas) of the same class i found these were well priced, prob cos they are korean rather than japanese. very happy i went with these.
falken rt215 or bridgestone G111... considering they are the same price and i would track my car about 3-4 times a year on a single set of wheels..
car used for both street and play..
which would you get?
They both work good but RT215 worn quite fast, maybe you could try RT615, it's out alreadyQuote:

For me, i will do 32psi to 34psiQuote:

I think that overall the ES100 are the best tyres they cost abit more then the bridestone but well worth the money!..
If you want to try things out in the wet IMO i think the GIII's are better then the other 2.
But that's what i think :)
Ya... ES100 is good but it has soft sidewall
gotta pump more air in
GIII and ES100 side walls not that good eh? Hmm or maybe i don't pump them up enough, what should i pump it too ?! more then 33 front and 35 rear ?!
how quite are the G III's ? and how long do they last ?
im kinda leaning towards them , from what ppl been saying about the performance.
I pump F:35 R:33Quote:

bridgestone GIII rocks!
i now have GIII up front on my dc2R, they grip bar better than the eagle f1's i use to have. they rock in the wet conditions!
planning to replace the rear axle with GIII's
$180 each fitted and balanced, from tyrepower sunshine.
what r your thoughts on Nankangs??
Nankang NS-IIs are OK ONLY!!!
~$110ea balanced and fitted for 205/40/17 from most palces so you can't complain...
- Don't last beyond 10,000kms even with camber/toe suited to driving style
- decent road grip WHEN DRY.. dont ask when its wet and below 70% tread
what profile we talking? i hope its not a 40 profile....Quote:

Sumitomo HTRZ-II- Bit over 200 each (205/45/16). Incredibly good tyres, great in the dry fantastic in the wet and they wear well too. Recommended.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3- 225/40/18 (400ish each). Absolutely fantastic tyre! Very hard to fault. Little road noise at all. Incredible gri[ in the dry just gets better in the wet. It is amazing the grip they have in the wet - they will fully screech and not lose traction. Incredible water dispersion. Wear is average hard to know as i had them on a heavier car. Noise and grip amazing though. Im getting them again on the crx i have right now.
Scott
Toyo T1R, disappointed with them. Poor grip, sidewall flex. Wouldn't recommend them, though a bit cheaper than some of the other big name brands.
I recently went to purchase the k105 from tempe in 205/40/17 and when I got back home (canberra) found they gave me radial k106. I was like WTF!!??!!Quote:

Does the tread pattern look like the K102's?
Also, K105's are not made in 205/40R17 so there is no way you could have asked for them...
The K106 could be the new name for the: Ventus R-S2 Z212's?
Check the website for the tread pattern here: http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/v2/pro...h=uhpt&id=1172
thing is, I called them twice before i bought them and ask for k105 in that size and they said yeah cool. we got in stock. then ended up driving home with the radial 106 (WTF is radial LOL). check the website and no other have same tread pattern. but atleast these are pretty grippy. so wont complain as much. LOLQuote:

i got charged $140/tyre though (WTF)...i rang around here in brissy and that was the normal price. one shop wanted $160/tyre.
i have k104 atm its pretty good got it for 160 each for 215/40/17 balanced and fitted.
guys you can tell if the tyres are genuine or not ALL Aussie legal tyres WILL HAVE a DOT in-print on the tyre.... it shouldn't look stamped on like re-treads on the sidewall....
^^^ that is another thing insurance can **** you anally for if they discover you didn't have ADR approved tyres....
i beliebe a539 are discounted stock....but last i checked 140ish a pop where as the es100 155 each...these prices are for 205/50/15 thoughQuote:

well i got my yoko c-drives cause the 'bob jane' i went too said that the a539 had been discontinued...>.<~
i was also told by the 'professionals' at bob jane that c-drive was the successor of a539 as a539 was old technology. honestly i would get a539 over any tire anyday of the week best bang for ur buck in the yoko range anyway and if ur an advent tracking looking for real grip your not gonna run es100 or a539 anyway....
so for daily driven cars looking for excellent road grip, minimal noise, good tyre life and not to harsh on the pockets i would say a539...BUT its true that they have been around for awhile so they are kinda old technology....and seriously no complaints about c-drive thus far...oh besides a bit on the noisy side when travelling at higher speeds...
in summary IMHO
a539 - way to go
es100 - waste of money - unless tracking and daily driven reguarly...den agen better of running to sets of tyres...
c-drive - still thinking...
c drive > a539.
es100 > a539.
Thanks guys, I'll look for the A539 for a while cause my new rims haven't arrived yet, but if I can't find any by that time, I'll go for the es100. Trust me, my car is driven regularly haha!
Get C Drives... they are awsome tires... Got them on my type R atm. A really soft compound tire, when u burn out they don't make a noise... sort of like that semi slick sound. They offer really good grip in the dry, won't say much for the wet. Really happy with them tho!
I had them on my DC2- r they great tires in the dry. Not in the wet tho. Really good for street and track! Offers awsome grip! Not noisy, I think the C-drives are better, and they have replaced the A539's! And they last quite long compared to pirelli and bridgestone and stuff!
Has ne1 ever used Kumho ECSTA SPT before. What did u think of the tyre. Was quoted $200 each for 205/45/16, including fitting n balance.
Well the ES100's have been worn in for a while now and I am very happy with the performance in all conditions, even in the wet they're fantastic, I highly recommend if you can afford them otherwise C-Drive's would suffice.Quote:

But 225/45R17 Tyres for the Euro Sport/Luxury. Apart from the stock Potenza REO40's are there any good recommendations for an all-rounder that has a decent tread-life?
Don't care so much about price.
C.Drives. Performance is as good as the high po tyres like G3, but much quieter. Downside is the price. For 225/45 R17, you might be looking at 250-300 per tyre.
Man, C Drives sound like the way to go then, thanks guys!!!
After you get them, drive normally for the first 100km to wear it in. I did a stupid thing and tested the tyres within the first 5km. Let's just say that a FWD can snap oversteer with new tyres.Quote:

I highly recommend these. The only down side to them is that they can be noisey when pushed but this doesnt bother me.

advan sport v103
top of the line street tyre from yokohama officially available in australia.
amazing grip, firm sidewall, love it to death.
a few downsides... price, tread wear (rating of 180), and no real noise/squeal when they loose grip - can be a bit scarey for the novice (ie me)
Just wondering that anyone know the price for the following tyres....
DZ101, RT215, RT615 on 195/55/15
Haha, okay aaronng, I'll remember that, no acts of stupidty for the 1st 100ks... Thanks for the warning!Quote:

I second that. I've had em on my car and performs very well. Although $125 is very cheap, what size is it for? Also, be aware that there are ones made in Germany and there are ones made in Thailand. I was told the one made in Germany performs better than Thailand made.Quote:
