i got mine from auto barn, mine are 2" ones tacho was 100, boost was 60 i think. oil and that are around 50 or so. haha what do u need guages for only one u might need is tacho atm :p

What brand gauges did ya get??
just speco ones. jsut so long as they tell me whats going on i wasnt too fussed
speco are probably one of the better cheap ones. Good thing you didn't get any of those drift gauges.
I got an autometer oil pressure and i swear by it.
man get some autogauge off ebay! cant go wrong!
autometer > autogayge IMO.

the car is having some throttle problems, i think the fact its got a y4 throttle body on it the intake and engine dont like it much. car is running fine and strong, just has problems idling and does something weird after boost to do with throttle again. i dunno im checking it out now hopefully get it sorted soon dave wont be here for like 2 more weeks :(

FITV have anything to do with it? because y4 throttle bodies don't have one...
Yes both running hondata OBD1. Idles fine but once it awhile the idle will drop and almost stall then will come back up.

yeah no i have, but i have now been informed that the Y4 and Y8 throttle bodys ARE different, so i am using the wrong throttle body formy engine.... that is probable half my problem ha. so i will be replacing it this week and hopefully that will fix the problem.
other then that the car is running VERY strong, very happy with how its running now, sounds very healthy and should be even better with the new throttle body.

do you know which sensor was giving you the trouble? i recall the y8 and y4 IACVs being different... could that be whats happening? how come you put the y4 tb on anyway? the y8 motor you bought not come with a tb?

haha well i hadnt heard the bov at all since i put the new engine in, even when it was spooling abit (which u could hear). so i thought it was strange.... so i have put a different bov on and i could hear it all the time like only just which is more then the old one. Sooooo i decided to acturlly let it spool up abit again and see if it does the whole shoot up to high revs after spooling. and well...... it didnt, acturlly it spooled up fine, changed gear, bov went off (unlike last time) and car still ran healthy, did it a few times so yeah im thinking mayb the old bov wasnt working cuasing my intake to pressure up making the engine run crap hole after spooling. im not sure if theres any tech in there, can someone varify if that might of been what was happening? either way for some reason with the new bov just then i could spool it fine (hehe felt good ;))

on the weekend installed a new bov after my other cheap one blew off AGAIN. i have redone the whole mounting of it if it blows off now then theres something wrong lol. this is a decent bov this time to. but yeah fixed that up, i knew how the last guy did the bov mount wasnt the best, i thought it would hold though but under boost it just isnt good enough. so yeah now has a nice NEW bov. also while i was doing shit i was looking at where my oil leak was coming from..... haha pissing out of the turbo.... and yesterday she was abit smokey... turbo in for rebuild this week :p spose thats what u get taking a chance on a second hand turbo. so year turbo getting re built. but from what i have felt.... it feels good ;) boost is my drug. still i just want everything finished, spewing about the turbo, but honestly when the turbo is rebuilt it means every part of the system is new or practically new.

Were you running hondata with your previous d16y4, or did you just start using hondata after swapping engines?
If you were running it on the d16y4, i take it you had to do some custom wiring for the obd1 ecu.
When you swapped to the d16y8, did you still run the harness from your d16y4 or did you pull it out and run the d16y8 harness?
Also, just wondering, is your swap newer than your car? Ive heard that the engine needs to be of equal age or newer to be legal, is this true for us QLDers?
Or is it that the engine must be availiable in other models of that year, for example, an engine made in 1996 swapped into a 1998 car is legal because you can find that particular engine in cars all the way up to the year 2000, even though the actual engine is older than the car??

muzz... you have to swap a motor that is NEWER than the chassis...
eg... you have a 96 chassis... has to be a 96+ motor... to be legel ofcourse

nope dave seems like a busy man. its driving good as it is with the base map and boosting fine. just idling isnt good when engine is fully warmed and dave says that the tune will get rid of that so yeah pretty much have to sit back and wait, o well its so much funner to drive now. i'm going to send him another call this arvo see if he can give me a final date

QLD and NSW engine change regulations may be different...But what TurtleEK1 has said re: engine age/ shell age is 100% correct when talking about legalities in QLD.

wheel didnt fall off it was still attached to the car :p and no that wont be starting to get repaired till end of this month, im fixing up every little thing in the car then respraying, so im just waiting for the money to do it. o well atm i dont really care im just enjoying the new engine. and this way i dont have to worry when i go down the quater. when its re sprayed and back in show condition i might not be soo keen...

yeah redoing the orange, put my tax return in yesterday, with the money it says i will get back it will be enough to fix damage and spray, so will be starting it real soon :D might as well get into it while i have the motivation no reason waiting :D so yeah will probable start that the weekend after its tuned or the weekend after, should only take 2 weekends to do, one weekend fixing up panels, next weekend prep and paint :)
