Civic 06 prices .. anyone already put a deposit or buy one?

any lawyers or legal experts in here? reason being i need advise on my rights to terminate a sales contract with the dealer. the story is, i put down a deposit for my civic almost 3 months ago. dealer still cant tell me exactly when my car will arrive (for the colour i want). his best estimate is at least another 3-4 weeks. i noticed on the contract that it says the buyer may terminate contract if the car takes more than 3 months to arrive (next week will be exactly 3 months).

i understand that this car has a long waiting list and the stocks are limited, but 4 months is just too long. furthermore i've sold my old car already, and now im stuck without a vehicle. dealer does not give loan vehicles. if possible, i'd prefer to cancel the contract with my deposit refunded, then buy another car with immediate delivery. can i do this without incurring any penalties? :confused:

i'm not a expert....but i think you can terminate if the dealer exceeds the expected delivery time by more than 3 mths
did the dealer put an expected delivery time on your contract?
the termination period should be 3 months from that date but not when u signed your contract.....i think....hope it helps...but anyway...u can always negotiate with the dealer.....i am sure u can work sth out with them
its really a long time....4 mths.....
i bought my car in early june and will be getting my car delivered to me this thursday.....cant wait to get it...hope u can get yours soon

at first the dealer told me delivery was only 4 weeks max so i should have got my car in late june....but turned out to be 6....but anyway...its ok as they will deliver the car to my place
does anyone know if dealers usually deliver the car by driving the car or towing the car?

no delivery date specified in the contract. so does that mean the valid termination period will count from the day i signed the contract?

My car is coming tomorrow..and I have waited like more than 3 months for it.

My contract states if the dealer does not deliver the car after 1 month of expected delivery, you may rescind the contract.

Must be the difficulty in obtaining the colour.

oh..i hope you have stated the expected delivery date....its gonna be complicated if you didnt..

I would recommend you call the consumer complaints tribunal (or equivilent) in your state. Look up Department of Fair Trading or something along those lines to ask for advice on this.

i dunno its hard to say coz for some cars there is a waiting period of mroe than 3 mths....etc the golf gti had 6 mths wait and people knew that when they bought the car....therefore if they dun write the expected del date its hard to say what the expected del date is but anyway you can always negotiate with the dealer......

If they have not written an expected delivery date (e.g. they just wrote ASAP) the three months commences from the day the dealer accepted your contract. i.e. the day you and the sales manager both signed on the dotted line.

Once the vehicle arrives, you're in a tough situation. If you need to cancel, do it now. You're entited to a full refund of your deposit.

Of course, you could always renegotiate for another car. They won't have trouble selling the Civic you don't want anymore so can't use it as leverge.

Your dealer is the first point of call. If they object, tell them it's written black and white on the contract and you're coming in person today to sort it out.

i ordered my civic early june and i still haven't recieved an email nor a call from the dealer and the expect delivery date is this month. Just to clarify things you can cancel your contract 3 months after you signed the agreement with them is this correct? and do you also get your deposit back?

what color are you guys all after, my girl ordered a black one on sunday and picked it up yesterday wednsday.
