oh man i miss my civic. its sitting here all neglected and shit :(
one day i will build an injected ED.
Well, today started off well, I went and saw Peter as I needed help welding the exhaust I got off Trism, and trying to work out the wiring from the ED fusebox, (Thanks again Peter, your help is very appreciated)
But on returning home, thats when it ALL WENT TO HELL...
I was able to get everything wired up, and it was working perfectly, then I decided to tidy up a few wires in the engine bay, and came across the original ignition coil supply, which I thought would be good to connect to the new coil rather than the way I had just connected a line straight to the +ve on the battery, whcih is what I did to test the wiring.
But after I connected things up, the car started and ran for a few secs, then died, and now it will crank but wont kick..
I have looked through the fuses and stuff, but then it got dark and I just gave up
GRRRR
Not the way I had expected the day to end....
Too cold and dark to start working on installing the exhaust too, just hope I havent blown the ECU up... The PGFM relay doesnt seem to be getting a signal from the ECU, I have to trace things out again
Cheers

OK, looks like my PGMFI relay had a bad solder joint, I took the cover off it and re-soldered all the connections, and plugged it back in at midnight to test, this time I got the fuel pump priming, so it looks like the car will start when i get home.
I still want to use the original black/yellow stripe cable that went to my ignition coil, but want to make sure thats right, it may have just been a coincidence that the relay had issues when I connected it up the first time.
Once the car starts again I can move it to where it will go up on stands so I can do the exhaust.
This is really a "1 step forward, 2 steps back" kinda progress
2 weeks left, hope I can get it registered by then..
Chris I'm so happy its all finally coming together man :)
If you need a hand man I'm always free now that I'm unemployed lol (just need you to pick me up from a station)
Actually Lloyd, the best you could assist would be a venting board hahaha, I have been venting a lot about everything thats not going right and my whole double-handling of things, but yeah, thanks for the offer :)
I put the exhaust from Trism on, Peters welding job made things exactly how they should be, but still need a pipe clamp for the rear pipe to muffler connection, went to Supercheap Norwest today, and of course the one i needed was out of stock, so I asked the friendly (bored) staff about it, and they said that one wont ever be ordered in again (AAAGHHH) hopefully Repco might come to the party tonight, I mean gee, if I want a bunch of air-freshners or DVD's of Brock (mysteriously minus his Ford Sierra and BMW years) I should be right, like cars have exhausts right? or is it that people all pay others to fix stuff now?
Anyway, vent out of the way haha, the exhaust was a very neat affair, and bigger diameter than the OEM, but didnt have a middle resonator, not sure but the car seemed a hell of a lot louder than I had hoped, it's a nice note, but may not win favours with the neighbors on early morning starts, oh well, not sure how long I will be driving this until the next Type R lands in my driveway (or I decide I am old and get a Legend)
Tonight I have to tighten a few nuts, cabletie the aircon hose away from the headers, and connect the ignition wire to where I hope i can put it, then maybe go for a quick up and down the road, but i think there may be a tiny water leak (maybe like Peter had) so who knows.
The various bits of interior need putting back too, but maybe after all that it will be blue slip time yay!
Oh, still have the hunting issues with idle, doesnt do it when i put in Drive, so not sure what that issue is, but only have 1 week before i have to give up, so really hope the car can be finished in time, though it's also becoming a matter of cashflow too..
Anyway, wish me luck
Cheers
Chris
did u end up feeding a Park/Neutral input to the ECU off the shifter?
ecu could be trying to idle compensate for the slight drag of the torque converter, when in fact the g/box is not in gear.
OK, went for a few runs round the block tonight
Yes, still hunts after 10 mins of running
Nearly cut out a few times, that worried me that it would be stranded in the rain
Yes, i did run a wire temporary to gnd the park signal, doesnt seem to make a difference either way
theres other issues too, such as the gearbox allowing the car to rev up but not going anywhere, seems like its slipping, i did fill it up, but maybe its low again, was kinda disappointing as I thought i had done everything right up to this point, I dont have the downshift cable to the trottlebody yet, but i wouldnt think that would cause the gearbox to slip.
It was fun to have a quick drive, but theres no power steering as I havnt got my 3PK790 belt in yet, it seems like it will be a great little run-around if I can finish it.
On another downside, the exhaust is just too noisy, will pass rego OK I think, but I am going to get it made quieter, it's just not what I was after.
Once again, thanks for everyones input, I am sure will get it sorted, maybe not in 1 week though
Cheers
Chris
Thanks Lloyd, if I had any spare time left it would be cool if you could drop over, but I only have 2 free weekends left, and unless you want to help me lay pavers in my yard, haha
I wish the 2000 model Legend had a 'wing turbo" would definately buy one then haha, mind you, the more this project goes sideways, the more I am thinking about a Legend, just a shame they are not as light on fuel
Cheers
Chris
OK, final "Thats IT"
massive argument with the wife
car must be sold or else
sh*t
damn, please check my thread in cars for sale, I was so close too
Looks like a Type R is out too, this has been a bad week
at least I still have the DA
Will at least get the P Steering working and terminate the wires for the ECU, but car has to go
Cheers
Chris
I feel your pain, Chris. Do you need to take out an AVO?
[Seriously] Sorry to hear that but I really do know how it is. My wife has mellowed over the years because she knows I'm incurable. I always say to her - "I don't drink, don't gamble, don't smoke, don't hang out at the Pub ... so ..."
