JDM = Japanese Domestic Market ...But.... its kind of a slang used for a car that is modified in a way like:
#lowered
# Deep dish wheel's (well atleast most the time)
# Stock Body
and most importantly Japanese car
JDM is not 'Officially a style' but is more of something people say
for example 'Rice' or "ricer' lol was just made up BS
i dont even know why i wasted my time writing that lmao ^
Take out the springs and smash into some curbs= hella flush stance
Exactly... Jdm seems to just be lowered nicely with some deep dish/ wheels that compliment the body, and just stock kit.
Udsm involves stickerbombing, dropped on it's ****, etc
audm involves matte black bonnets and shitty cannons afaik
eudm involves VIP (Can't remember if VIP was jdm or eudm.. one of them)
But meh, I'll just mod my car to look nice to me. If people don't like it, that's their problem, they don't have to drive it or look at it every day.
A "JDM car" is just a car that was manufactured in Japan for Japans own market..
I don't know why/how it became all this other stuff....
JDM is sleeping out for 2 nights for the latest limited BAPE camo toilet seat cover.
I think JDM 'style' if thats what you guys are referring to is, Keeping it OEM (parts from the jap model eg: ek9 into ek4) as much as possible, Nice light weight forced rims, Japanese branded performance parts. Basically following the car trends from japan.
On the side note: Things like USDM or Sexpec (australian car trend) are completely different. For example Americans like everything big (even on honda's), Australians have a thing for leather everywhere as few examples.
OP just go on their forums and have a read, you will see the difference in car fashion. To me personally JDM = Car that was STRICTLY sold in Japan only. JDM Style = Following the Japanese trends in car fashion (re-birthing a car is not JDM its a JDM STYLE aka ek>ek9, eg>eg6 and the list goes on...)
So to make your car JDM style get parts from the Jap model and re birth here or Import one from JAP to be 100% JDM. At the end of the day styling is very subjective as everyone has a different personalities and we do up our cars based on that.
Also be careful of ebay fakes. That is not JDM! if you ebay'd a part in your car unless if its real deal its NOT JDM. And SPACERS Aren't JDM.
my 200 cents.
I am all over with this JDM stuff. I am just gonna build my car the way i like it, and show it the way i like it. Its gonna be street legal, have a good vtec in it, with a full roll cage, good wheels, lowered by coilovers, sounds deadly, goes like a nuclear bomb and eats up v8s, and put whatever stickers i like to be put on it. And if I have enough money, bodykit (I am leaving the orignal rear spoiler as I like it 'smooth') paint it the most unquie colour I can find that everyone jaws will be dropping or drooling. It wont be a Type R replica, its going to resprsent the EK1s, then pretenting its something else.
And yes I have big spotties on my civic right now but saving up a daily driver so I can do whatever i like with my civic now.
this thread is full of LOL's
