Check your manual for service schedule. But high fuel consumption is a accumulated result of many faults in the car. Could be your air filter being too dirty or something blocking your air intake or dirty oil, improperly inflated/worn out tyres, transmission oil get clogged or drive train problem, etc. I get around 450 till light goes up. Honestly, FDs are terrible in traffic. My tip for you though: learn where you get the most congested traffic, and turn your engine off for every point that you have to stop for more than 30 secs. Just anticipate it. Dont idle for too long, you'll be surprised how much fuel a FD burn on idle. Coast your way to a red light as much as possible (I dont know if it helps for automatic transmission), bringing a from full stop is obviously more fuel consuming than pushing it faster. Also, I noticed this from my old automatic cars, if you step on the accelerator hard (not too hard) so that the car goes through its lower gears quickly, you get better tank mileage than hovering around 2.5k - 3k rpm (Doesnt hurt to experiment yourself). Pour 98 or use engine clean once in a while, 98 has cleaning chemical mixed in it, it will help your car in terms of combustion efficiency. But since youre getting 9L/100Km now it seems okay for FDs. I get around 8.5 or 8.7 with moderate traffic.
I dont know how much hybrid FD consume fuel but I would say their best figure would be 5.5L/100Km (can't beat prius). On average normal FDs get 9L/100Km. So you save 3.5L for every 100Km. A typical annual mileage of a car would be 25k km. So you would save 3.5x250=875L. Given the fuel you pour is at 170c (assume 98, cause we're rich as fk). You save 875x1.7=$1487.5. How much more expensive a hybrid is compared to a VTI? 6k extra? (I'm not sure about this, can someone enlighten me on this? but I think its more than 6k) In the case of 6K extra, it would take you approximately 4 years to break even if you get a hybrid.
So yeah, I would say hybrid isn't worth it or if you get a bit lower tank mileage. Just blast your way and enjoy the car. Pretty much in 6-7 years, you would be getting a new car anyway. How much do you save if you drive like a grandma and miss out all the fun?
