My old WRX (2001) played CDRW no issue.Quote:

This was that thread I think ;)
On my Euro's 6CD HU, both CD-R and CD-RW play flawlessly.
CD-R is TDK mostly.
CD-RW is TDK too.
Burnt on a desktop at 32x using an LG DVD-RAM drive.
ps. For what its worth, I used to get really bad CD-R playback on my 3yr old Sony HU when I burnt the CD-R's on a laptop. But the Desktop LG and Sony/Lite-On DVDRW+CDRW drive(s) always burnt perfect discs.

Yeah, but they take a survey where people use cheap made in china discs.... The Kodak gold discs that i have are 8 years old now and still work. Too bad they used to cost $1 each!!!!Quote:

The Renault I had until last week would play CD-R's and CD-RW's fine, but it wouldn't play copy-protected original CDs. The only way to play all the Sony and EMI CDs that were "copy-protected" was to make a copy of them. The copied disc always played fine.
So now for all my CD collection I have copies for the car and the originals just stay on the shelf at home. No problems playing any in the Euro, although the cheap discs I use tend to scratch pretty easily and then they start to skip tracks and jump. Haven't tried a CD-RW but seems that they work fine.
As far as the satnav luxury goes, there is no way that it will play MP3 discs. Personally I would have thought that all cars sold in 2006 should include MP3 playback, but I guess you can't have everything.
I have 6 CD-RWs in my 03 Euro stacker and never had a problem.
Media is TDK CDRW High Speed:p
Remember that its the CD writer as well that determines car cd player compatibility.
Ive burnt some TDK CD-R's with a crappy CD burner and it would skip and pause in the car. I also burnt onto some crappy laser CD's with a good LG CD burner and had no problems ;)
