Yeah but thats made in japan the mazda 3's not in thailand
The pricing of the Civic is reasonable, but i still feel that the Sport model price could be a little lower. If the car had sport tuned suspension ,lower ride height, maybe the motor could also be a little more powerful,I might be tempted in buying the car.Doesn't the sport model also weigh about 100 kgs more than the VTI !?!
Maybe I'll change my mind when i see it in the "flesh"? :)
Ek4s cost about the smae back when they came out... i think actually more...
In the early nineties until the late nineties Honda could command high prices, because they were at the top of their game. When i bought my Civic in 1998, the VTI-R version was $33,000 (not on road). In terms of power (from small capacity engines)and handling Honda could not be touched !
Now, it is quite a different story.
Guys, there's no point in crying over spilt milk.
The new sedan Civic will be from Thailand period.
The 2.0L rrp of $31,990 for the auto is very good value for money.
It beats the Mazda Sp23 rrp of $31,320 by a mile and you get extras like leather, sunroof, mirror indicator lights, etc.
In S'pore the Japanese made 2.0L sedan costs $66,120.
Visit the "FCAI" website and you'll find that out of 70,003 vehicles sold in Jan, 81% are imports, 41% are Toyota imports, 10% are Korean and 9% are Thai!
Some 3-series and C-class have always been made in South Africa.
In fact, some E-class will also be made in China!
I just finished reading todays Motoring liftout from "THE WEST" (west australian daily papers). They had two page review of all new civic that's on the way to oz.
They did testing in NZ, but only 1.8l models with man and auto trans.
It was all positive feedback, but the said they would love to get their hands on 2.0l model, because as they said 1.8 was going pretty good.
Models coming are:
1.8l VTi man $20990
1.8l VTi auto $22990
1.8l VTi-L man $22490
1.8l VTi-L auto $26490
2.0l Sport man $29990
2.0l Sport auto $31990
1.3l Hybrid CVT $31990
All model including enteri level 1.8l Vti man ($20990) have ABS with electronic brake force distribution, power steering, air conditioning, central locking, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment, power windows and mirrors, two air bags, active front head restrains, fold-down rear seat and speed-sensative audio controls.
VTi-L adds an outside temp gauge, climate controle, split-fold rear seat, side air bags, security alarm, alloy wheels and six-stacer CD.
Sport model comes with six airbags, electric two way sunroof, electric power steering, 16" alloys, driving lights, steering wheel mounted audio controls and exclusive grey or blue leather interior.
Hybrid has same specs as sport just different engine.
I think that for normal every day driving basic model gives a lot for that price tag of $20990, Sport model is good base for a bit of tuning (K20), still better priced than it's rivals with lots of goodies included in $29990.
They recon if UK build hach is ever gonna come it would be priced in mid 30K, so my opinion is if it's not a Type R hach thay shouldn't b even try.
I was just thinking if it would be possible getting a basic model $20990 but with 2.0l engine, like a special order from honda, of course we would pay a bit extra for engine but if we gonna mod the car we don't need 6 airbags, 16"rims, leather interior ect, I would personaly get bucket seats in, new rims and son on, paying almost $10K for something we don't need is big waste.
While I think the new civic is hot, and addition with leather and sunroof rocks on the sports model, the pricing is too close to a new standard Euro, sure it ain't going to have the leather seats or sunroof like the Euro Lux but, better engine bigger car more roomy, Just a better car overall, if your going to spend that sort of money might as well save up a tad longer and get a Standard Euro. That my opinion anyway, and if i was looking at a civic sport I'll personally move up to a Euro
The rrp difference between the Civic 2.0L Sport auto and the Accord Euro auto is $3,510.
Bear in mind that the wheelbase of the new Civic is longer than the Euro - 2700 mm compared to 2670 mm !
i guess its the same dilemma for those who chose between a fully loaded SP23 and a Mazda 6 Luxury
and I agree Civic Sport will cannabalise Integra sales, similar engine, why pay close to 40K for what is essentially a styling exercise?
more choice for the consumer? always a good thing :D
i'll actually buy it if s2000 2nd hand wasnt aroudn that price range
Some people just must have the leather. Hehe
could it be a competitor to the mitsubishi 380 ??
the specs (cept engine) are very similar..
